Intern Killed By Alleged Drunk Driver.

Very sad news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jordan Griner’s family and friends.

A woman with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit ran a red light and killed an intern from the governor’s office early Saturday, Atlanta police said.

Gov. Sonny Perdue called the intern, Jordan Griner, 24, “a bright and shining star” in a statement released by his office Saturday afternoon.

Christa Scott, 26, was taken into custody after she ran a red light on West Peachtree and hit the driver’s side door of Griner’s car at 17th Street, police said.

Griner, an Augusta native and University of Georgia graduate, had been an intern in Perdue’s office for several months.

  1. Gregory says:

I had the privilege to intern with Jordan this spring in the Governor’s office. He was a real outstanding guy, a hard worker and always had a smile on his face.

My prayers are with his family.

  2. polisavvy says:

This is a terribly sad story. My son had spoken with him on Friday. The woman who destroyed this life should pay and pay dearly. Anyone who knew this woman’s condition and allowed her to leave their establishment should pay as well. Please keep Jordan’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

  3. “of everything they think is wrong in the world.”

Are you indicating drunk driving isn’t a problem in this world. When this story was sent to us through the tipline, I refrained from posting it because I was worried how the comments might go.

I hate to be a mood killer, but someone is dead. Can’t we at least be civil in this one thread?

  4. Lady Thinker says:

My students don’t need your pity because they are getting a quality education and are learning to check multiple sources for answers instead of accepting the first thing they read. In fact, in one class, there were fifteen “A’s”, thirteen “B’s” and one “D”, for a lazy student who isn’t trying. I am now grading the work for the other three classes but decided to take a break to see what is going on on PP/

What kind of student were/are you?

  5. Harry says:

The AJC article said Griner was a very cautious driver. When drunks are driving, sooner or later somebody’s gonna get killed.
