1. fishtail says:

One thing is absolutely the truth here…the Houston County Sheriff is a big fat liar!! His best defense would be senility.

          • fishtail says:

Lady Thinker…I watched the video. The Sheriff is a LIAR. Any jury would convict him. So, NO, this is not my just “disagreeing with what he said:”…what do you think after watching the video? I will be interested in your response if you care to respond.

            • Lady Thinker says:

I have an older computer that does not handle video well, so I will have to wait to view it tomorrow afternoon before my students come in, then I will answer this question.

            • Lady Thinker says:

I watched the video and while I think the Sheriff is way off, I think he believes what he is saying so no, I can’t say he is a liar. A liar knows what he is saying is not the truth. I don’t think that is the case with the sheriff. I think he has been sold a bill of goods he chooses to believe.

    • Ambernappe says:

Sheriff Talton is not senile – reports are that he handles his elective responsibilities very well. If there is evidence that he has lied, then report the perceived ethics violation.

The most obvious fact regarding Highway 96 is that no matter where the improvemennts occur – in an area which meets engineering requirements – they will be within the view of property owned by someone. I reiterate my observations of the dangerous situation on the road and wonder why no information was included regarding accident statistics. Sonny Perdue is Governor because he started his elected career as a citizen very interested in his community. The majority of qualified voters have voted for him time after time because they approve of the representation that he has provided.

Since Mr. Ferguson is so adamant, perhaps he can propose a route
which is devoid of any association with any local property owner who has no interest in either the Houston County Democrat or Republican party.

      • ByteMe says:

Disingenuous at best. Outright BS at worst.

Perdue is currently not just a “citizen very interested in his community” or “a local property owner who has … interest in either the Houston County Democrat [sic] or Republican party.”

  2. Tireless says:

I want to know what, if any, involvement Handel had in this matter. Did she make inquiries on behalf of the Governor? Did she chew out and cuss like a sailor at any state employees? You do know she does that a lot.

        • fishtail says:

Have to agree with TIRELESS…it’s common knowledge that Karen Handel cusses like a sailor, in front of men and women. Not that it’s a bad thing, but she ain’t no Southern Belle.

          • Lady Thinker says:

I have never heard her cuss. Note to self, ask Karen if she cusses like a sailor at the next debate.

            • fishtail says:

You must not be an insider, LADY THINKER…Karen Handel uses the Mf and the GD word all the time. She ain’t no Southern Belle like you pretend to be.

              • Lady Thinker says:

No, I’m not an insider as I do not advise her or really talk to her unless she is at the same debate where I am present. I don’t pretend to be or not to be a lady, however, my friends tell me I am too feminine. I choose not to cuss or use coarse words because I have just never felt the need to do so, however, if I were somewhere and felt physically threatened by someone, I could unleash a torrent to a potential attacker that would probably shame him.

                • NorthGAGOP says:

Given all of the “stuff” that is flying around PP, it looks like Handel’s momentum is building.

                • Lady Thinker says:

What about the men who cuss like sailors? Are you saying it is okay for men to cuss but not women?

I don’t believe Karen is a feminist, just a woman who sees trememdous problems in Georgia that she has a plan to remedy. Georgia has many things wrong, Karen sees the good in Georgia and has a plan to promote the good while fixing the bad.

I have never heard her cuss but then I am not a paid staffer nor am I around her that much. If she does cuss, so what? Do you cuss?

                  • SFrazier says:

After all, who wants to be around someone who cusses like a sailor after you lose a loved one. I will keep Clint in my prayers, he seemed like a very nice man.

              • Ambernappe says:

Lady Thinker is not into contrivance – she is a lady. Nor does she equivocate regarding truth.

  3. HowardRoark says:

With all the troubles our state has, I’m glad to see Sonny is more concerned w/ getting his driveway paved.

  4. mitchmartin says:

Three months of investigation and that is what he came up with? If I was Fox 5, I think I would ask him to return any salary paid working on this story.

    • fishtail says:

Mitch…this TV investigative series accomplishes what the DOT insiders (staff and Board member David Doss) wished for…they will now re-evaluate the merits of the Bonaire highway scandal and end up screwing Perdue and his pals. Just desserts to Perdue and his lyin’ ass Sheriff. Of course all this comes at the end of Sonny’s reign and there will be little he can do to stop the de-railing of his scam, UNLESS Karen Handel, his sock-puppet, is elected Governor.

  5. Mayonnaise says:

When will Hillary Handel announce that she will no longer be on the same stage as Sonny Purdue?

  6. Lady Thinker says:

Hillary is a Democrat, Karen is a Republican, and Sonny isn’t running for governor. Educating the masses is a never ending proposition.

  7. NorthGAGOP says:

When will Johnson ask the organizers of events ask that the Governor not be invited. There are more former Sonny staffers on the Johnson team than any other campaign.

    • Lady Thinker says:

Good point but many don’t see that Johnson is very close to Perdue. They focus on the fact Karen worked in the Governor’s office for a year back in 2002 0r 2003.

    • Mayonnaise says:

The conservative staffers went to Johnson and the moderate staffers went to Hillary Handel’s campaign.

          • Lady Thinker says:

Karen is not left of center so Mayo is wrong, however, he chooses to refuse to believe anything good about Karen.

            • Dave Bearse says:

I think you’re mistaken is you think Handel is not left of center within the GOP.

It seems that Republicans that are left of center within the GOP are unworthy if not RINOs. The problem with that is that eventually the GOP is a party of one, because if there were more than one in the GOP, at least oneperson would be left of center within the GOP.

                • Tireless says:

Thanks for the head’s up. I looked at the first page and busted out laughing. Let’s see what made me laugh…..

” She also put herself through as much college as she could afford before starting a career that would see her rise rapidly through corporate America (including CIBA Vision and accounting firm KPMG) and Republican politics.

From a job at Hallmark Cards corporate offices in Washington, D.C., Karen was recruited to work in the Bush-Quayle White House, eventually becoming Deputy Chief of Staff. In that capacity, she managed office operations and spearheaded Mrs. Quayle’s breast cancer awareness and research campaign, which ultimately led to the founding of the Susan G. Komen Washington ‘Race for the Cure.’

After the White House, Karen served as an executive with KPMG and later with CIBA Vision. ”

We need a Joe Wilson moment (“She lied”). She wasn’t an executive at KPMG, she was the marketing director for the ATL office. This was a do-nothing position that reported to the local managing partner. Without a college degree she wasn’t qualified to be a staff consultant, yet she claims she was an executive.

She goes on to imply she was the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Bush/Quayle administration. She was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Mrs. Quayle.

If she applied to any corporation and they caught her embellishing her resume like she does on her web site, she would never get a job offer. This says a lot about her lack of ethics. On the other hand, given her weak resume I guess we should give her a pass for lying.

              • ByteMe says:

Ann Coulter once pointed out that anyone to the left of her on the spectrum was a vile socialist.

In some ways, it’s fun watching the GOP fight with itself over its soul. It’s sad, though, that the noisiest and least thoughtful group in the fight is getting the most attention in the media.

  8. ReaganRepublican says:

Just about every staffer she has is on loan from somewhere, she has no money. People can see that she is a bleeding liberal. Clint Murphy is gone, Angie is gone…. No one believes in her, and she has no money.

      • SFrazier says:

I lost my dad at a very young age. I was close to him and extremely heart broken so I will pray for Clint as well. With that said, I did not quit school? My mom did not quit her Job?
        Clint is 50 years old?

        • Lady Thinker says:

Being 50 and losing a parent is just as hard as any other age. Hopefully, someday you may understand the difference.

          • SFrazier says:

I am not disputing that. The point I was making is that this is when Clint needed a job more than ever so he does not have to think about it and Karen lets him Go? Either, heartless by Karen or through this experience Clint re-evaluated Karen and decided to go do somthing else. These life changing experiences make people want to do the right thing.

            • Icarus says:

We’re ending this speculation thread now.

Clint has gone through something few of us can understand, and made difficult choices that were right for him.

It’s not political, it’s very personal. And it’s one of the few things I’ll deem off limits here.

Any additional comment on this will be deleted and any commenters run the risk of a permanent ban.

  9. ReaganRepublican says:

Here is a quote right off the democratic web site.
” In 2006, Handel received $10,000 from Fourth Quarter Properties, the real estate company involved in a notoriously shady land deal with Karen Handel’s old boss, Sonny Perdue.”
The Dems have known about her connections to this for quite some time.

    • ByteMe says:

The also know about how Deal kept his hands stuck in the Georgia cookie jar even from Washington.

  10. Scott65 says:

Hmmm…how did a thread about how our governor diverting funds to his home district for a road that wasn’t even ranked #1 in importance in his county, putting many of his neighbors out of their homes and using transportation dollars so desperately needed elsewhere turn into an “all about Karen” thread. I think this is some serious stuff. Sonny’s “do list” was obviously do for ME (Sonny that is)

    • Lady Thinker says:

As you know, it is threadjacking and the Deal camp takes every opportunity to trash Karen rather than talking about the issues.

Johnson and Chapman have had far more exposure to Perdue, years more than Karen’s one year as his Deputy Chief of Staff, yet they have beaten that one year into the ground.

Perdue is on his way out and this is his contribution to his hometown area for which he hopes to be remembered. It will probably be named Perdue Highway or whatever term goes with the Perdue name,
