For all those who wonder about Rachel Gandee’s veracity….just ask yourself, what does she have to gain? Money, no. Fame – she doesn’t want it. All she has to gain is a big fat lawsuit by Good Ole Ray. Yet she still came forward. Check your facts – her mom came forward in 2006 but no one would pick up the story.

I’m not calling for him to drop out. I’m presenting both sides as to why he gave the cell phone (she might commit suicide/he wanted to talk without her parents knowing.) I haven’t said he’s guilty of anything, but I will comment on things like restraining orders and 7 page apology letters. I leave it up to the voters to decide what he is apologizing for. I don’t care for him telling a YR club what they have to do, and I am perplexed as to why he won’t pledge to the flag. I am committed to see the truth come out, for the truth will make us all better voters. I am trying to be just as fair with him as I would with any other candidate.

Does that mean I have taken sides? I don’t want to have to deal with calls for my impeachment. I also don’t want to tick off whatever portion of his 2300 supporters that may live in the Ninth. They are hard workers and I want to keep some of them open to the idea of supporting other GOP candidates in the future.

Perhaps the situation is overblown and voters will dismiss Mr. McBerry summarily, based on the whatever bits of information they assimilate prior to an election.

This mini-mini-saga reminds me of a buffet where the Chef has put out food that may be contaminated, and feels his guests are safe if they smell everything prior to eating. Most of the time, guests will reject tainted food. If they don’t, is it their fault for getting sick???

Putting the onus on the voter to vet a candidate, seems like a good idea –Until it’s not. Then the ‘brand’ suffers.

The bottom line is that public figures have to prove a higher standard of libel and slander. See Falwell vs. Flynt decision. Also, if he actually inteds to sue, then why wait until November? Why not sue now? I think he is just puffing smoke and bluffing and his supporters are dumb enough to fall for it.
