Normally we don’t post press releases for candidates, but we make the exception for one of our own….

PRESS RELEASE

April 28, 2010 Contact Buzz Brockway (678) 895-9064

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Buzz Brockway To Seek State House Seat Of Retiring Rep. Mike Coan

(Lawrenceville) Buzz Brockway will qualify today to seek election to the State House of Representatives District 101. District 101 was previously represented by Mike Coan who was yesterday recommended by Governor Perdue to head the Supplemental Insurance Trust Fund.

“For the past 14 years, Mike Coan has done a tremendous job representing the people of Gwinnett County” Brockway said. “I’m proud to have had him as my State Representative and I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of Gwinnett in the State House.”

Brockway says job growth and continuing to deal with the State Budget are the two most important issues we face. “The government must get out of the way and create opportunities for businesses to get moving again” Brockway said. “Business people will dig us out of this recession, not government.” “We must make fundamental change to the structure of government or once tax revenues increase, the State budget will become bloated again,” Brockway stated.

Buzz Brockway served as Chairman of the Gwinnett Republican Party from 2002 – 2005. He also served the Gwinnett Republican Party as a Precinct Captain, District Manager and 2nd Vice Chairman. He is a 1990 graduate of Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and runs a small business in Lawrenceville with his wife Christa. The Brockways are active members of Destiny Church in Buford. They are the proud parents of three daughters; Hope, Grace, and Joy. He is 43 years old and a 34 year resident of Lawrenceville.

this could be his campaign song…

there is also a bit from the drew carey show, where they list off a litany of slogans for buzz beer that might be helpful too…

best of luck buzz, you are one of the good guys!!!

Buzz Brockway April 28, 2010 at 8:27 am

Thanks drjay. The committee on campaign songs will give that one careful consideration. :-)

Nathan April 28, 2010 at 8:24 am

And the Peach Pundit slate builds…

Go Buzz! Much luck to you and your campaign.

Buzz Brockway April 28, 2010 at 8:28 am

Thanks for the well wishes everybody.

polisavvy April 28, 2010 at 9:41 am

By the way, and slightly off topic, the names of your daughters are absolutely beautiful.

Doug Deal April 28, 2010 at 8:33 am

Vote Brockway, the Buzz never wears off.

Kellie April 28, 2010 at 10:55 am

Just bring cash to the PP party. He prefers pennies. ;-)

Nathan April 28, 2010 at 12:08 pm

Are you sure folks shouldn’t bring a fistful of singles? Just saying.

Icarus April 28, 2010 at 12:10 pm

That’s the after party.

Doug Deal April 28, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Is the “after party” the one in Macon?

Icarus April 28, 2010 at 1:10 pm

That one will require $20′s or $50′s.

Buzz Brockway May 1, 2010 at 12:03 am

The committee on slogans is giving serious consideration to this entry.

Doug Deal May 1, 2010 at 8:26 am

I have reasonable licensing terms available.

Doug Deal May 1, 2010 at 8:27 am

And I’m talkin’ easy payments…

Doug Deal April 28, 2010 at 8:33 am

Oh, and when can we expect your repeated money bombs to start?

Icarus April 28, 2010 at 8:43 am

Our currency here is often snark, with a small side of bitterness or dispair. But our adult in the room has always been Buzz Brockway. I will have to say that he is perhaps the finest individual I have met through politics, and actually cares about doing the right things right – and for the right reasons.

I’m proud to call him a friend, and I look forward to him serving the people of Gwinnett County and all of Georgia in the House.

Tyler April 28, 2010 at 8:44 am

Naturally Buzz, you have 100% of my support. That and $0.02 will get you a Quarter Pounder…cheese will cost you extra.

Harry April 28, 2010 at 8:45 am

I like the Buzz platform of two issues – jobs and less government. Suggested slogan: Live free or die.

B Balz April 28, 2010 at 8:54 am

I like it!

ByteMe April 28, 2010 at 9:30 am

Is “or” the correct conjunction? Is it possible to live forever if you’re living free?

Doug Deal April 28, 2010 at 9:32 am
fishtail April 28, 2010 at 8:48 am

Buzz…you da man!! Good luck to you.

B Balz April 28, 2010 at 8:54 am

I look forward to your campaign and incumbency, Buzz. Having read and spoken to you over the last few years, your opinions reflect those of a thoughtful, grounded, fiscal conservative who really will go to bat for his constituents.

You’ll have my support in GWINCO.

NorthGeorgiaGirl April 28, 2010 at 8:57 am

Good luck…now we need one like you to run over here…

BuckheadConservative April 28, 2010 at 9:08 am

This is great news. In my short exchanges with him I’ve always perceived Buzz is part of a dying breed in politics….the good guys. Best of luck, and to hell with Georgia Tech!

Icarus April 28, 2010 at 9:26 am

+ 30-24

drjay April 28, 2010 at 10:27 am

Lawton Sack April 28, 2010 at 9:36 am

No offense (#1) to Kellie, Polisavvy, or Republican Lady.

polisavvy April 28, 2010 at 9:40 am

No offense taken — at least you didn’t reference any of us women as “dudes.” LOL!!! :)

Chris April 28, 2010 at 9:43 am

If you got a gravatar we might not assume you’re a man.

polisavvy April 28, 2010 at 9:50 am

Didn’t think it was necessary since I have admitted openly to being the mother of two grown sons since the get-go and have been accused of being too emotional in my responses. Plus, too old to want a photo of me on here. LOL!!

benevolus April 30, 2010 at 12:23 pm

Yeah, you write like a girl!

lol.

Kellie April 28, 2010 at 10:46 am

I hope my gravatar helps.

Doug Deal April 30, 2010 at 12:48 am

Whatever, dude.

Republican Lady April 28, 2010 at 11:16 pm

None taken.

Buzzfan April 28, 2010 at 9:36 am

Awesome!! Good luck, Buzz!

To Hell With (Big Government in) Georgia!

Daniel N. Adams April 28, 2010 at 10:00 am

(LPGA chair hat off)

Ditto Icarus comment.

I hope you’ll be at the shin-dig on Thursday, Buzz. If so, your first apple juice is on me.

Best of luck.

Mad Dog April 28, 2010 at 10:06 am

Best wishes, Buzz.

I’d wish you good luck but you’ll deserve more credit for your hard work than you do a wish for luck.

MD

Jason Shepherd April 28, 2010 at 10:53 am

Miss T April 28, 2010 at 10:54 am

Republican Lady April 28, 2010 at 11:17 pm

I live in Gwinnett so you have my vote!

Doug Grammer April 29, 2010 at 9:24 am
