Everson Comments on Michael Thurmond Entering Senate Race

(Snellville)—State Rep. Melvin Everson, who is the leading Republican candidate for Labor Commissioner, offered the following comments concerning Michael Thurmond’s decision to seek a U.S. Senate seat:

“Now more than ever, Georgians are seeking committed leadership from their Labor Commission to help get people back to work and attract real employment growth to their communities.

“My personal resolve remains strong to do more for our people by changing the leadership direction of this office. We can bring together all of the players, make the right choices and bring real economic development opportunities and create jobs.

“For over a year we have gone around the state with our message. We are dedicated to maintaining and building momentum in this campaign. Our chief priority remains to win the support of voters. We appreciate all the early support and ask for continued strong showings as we work throughout this election year.”

Everson also released a list an updated list of Legislative supporters. Since the announcement that Rep. Mark Butler would be joining the race for Labor Commissioner, Everson has lost almost no support and has even gained a few endorsments.

Republicans really ought to get out of the habit of speaking on behalf of people who are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves.

  3. Mike Hauncho says:

Melvin is an impressive guy. This list pales in comparison to his speaking and leadership ability. A great man.

  4. Goldwater Conservative says:

I hope this guy believes that labor unions are players in the process and invites them to the table after the election.

    • ChuckEaton says:

Perhaps, when the labor unions are writing checks to the Democratic ticket, they should save a little ink for Melvin.
