The Third Day: Easter 2010

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Matthew 28:1-9

Happy Easter to each and every one of you.

  1. Happy Ishtar to you too! Here’s wishing fertility to your eggs and may your orgies be filled with fun.

I’ll let you do your own research on where the bunnies / rabbits / eggs come from in relation to Ishtar (pronounced Easter). It’s some rather interesting reading…

    • Aww c’mon guys, this doesn’t need to be like the Good Friday thread was. I may roll my eyes when Pete Randall posts his obituaries honoring black soldiers, or when Erick suddenly gets holy for a change. However, for big emotional subject matter like this, sometimes you just have to let things go. Anyone who would see it your way already does… and to anyone who doesn’t already see it that way, you can’t win. There will be another day, and better things to mock.

Then again, at least Pete has the common sense to close the thread when he posts something “out of character” or “serious”.

      • Rick Day says:

Well that is all fine and good but what I want to know is why is the Flagger Jesus™ flipping us off in that painting?

Oh and I missed the verse that quoteth The Flagger Jesus™ was buried in the Arc of the Covenant.

      • Maybe I missed something… what on earth does Easter and Jesus have to do with “Fresh Political Pickins From The Peach State”? I could have sworn this was a political blog.

        • Provocateur says:

Actually…apparently Erick thinks praying and proselytizing in public makes-up for all of his “Do as I say not as I do” political postures.

  2. Chris says:

As I recall Ishtar was a major cinema flop.

Happy Easter to all, whether its a holiday with family to eat hard-boiled eggs and jelly beans, or a holiday with family to celebrate that He has Risen.
