March Madness Bracket Contest Anyone?

If there is interest in forming an NCAA March Madness bracket contest I’ll be happy to set one up (probably with ESPN). It’s pretty easy to do, the winner would be the person who correctly picked the most games over the length of the Tournament, and as many people who want to join can. Needless to say, the prestige that accompanies being the Peach Pundit March Madness Bracket Contest Champion in incalculable.

If enough of you are interested, I’ll set it up Monday night.

Update by Tyler: Doug Deal has set up the bracket at  http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/register/joinprivategroup

bluemcduff March 14, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I’m interested in defending my win from last year–let’s do this!

I think my bracket picks of best mascots and perfectly coordinated colors will stand up to any bracket that is picked using formulas, knowledge and expertise. Bring it!

benevolus March 15, 2010 at 11:33 am

I think the Banana Slugs are in this year!

drjay March 15, 2010 at 11:37 am

Icarus March 14, 2010 at 9:59 pm

I’m in, of course.

Did we ever do a post on our Fantasy commoner games winners?

Is that data still available?

Doug Deal March 14, 2010 at 10:34 pm

It is. You just have to sign into Yahoo, which I have not yet done at the time of this writting.

I’m interested. I do one every year.

Doug Deal March 15, 2010 at 5:13 pm

One?!? Lightweight.

polisavvy March 16, 2010 at 8:03 am

Yes, I only do one bracket a year. It’s usually good enough to win. How many do you want me to do?

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 1:13 am

That’s exactly the cocky attitude you need going into this.

polisavvy March 17, 2010 at 8:36 am

Don’t laugh, but I actually do fairly decently every year. I started by getting in my son’s fraternity’s bracket — the first year I picked 7 of the 8 finals, the final four, and the winner. Not bad for a girl, huh? I actually love college football, but love March Madness, too. I’m such a “guy” when it comes to sports! Never miss Gameday on Saturdays.

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 8:43 am

Luckily for you that you are using a pseudonym, as I think half the single guys on here would be googling you about right now.

polisavvy March 17, 2010 at 8:46 am

Ha ha!! I’ve been told my friends of my husband that I’m every man’s ‘dream wife.’ I actually get up early on Saturdays, get whatever needs to be done finished, food planned out, etc., and literally sit in front of the TV all day and half the night. I love it. I do need your help getting on the 141074 bracket thing, though. How do I log on? I tried the 141074/tanalach thing, but it didn’t work. Could you kind of ‘walk me through’ it?

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 9:34 am

Are you putting that in where it asks you to log into Yahoo? Because that is the wrong place. You have to create a yahoo account first then sign up for the bracket.

Otherwise, you’ll have to be more descriptive of what you see.

polisavvy March 17, 2010 at 9:42 am

I did it! My bracket is already there, hopefully. Is there any way for you to tell that it is there? Thanks for your help. This should be fun. Well, I know what I’ll be doing starting at around noon today. Good luck to everyone participating!! :)

polisavvy March 17, 2010 at 9:44 am

By the way, I just looked at the names of the participants and mine is not there. What could I have done wrong? I saved it. Help!!

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Did you hit save after you were done?

If you are done, the bracket will say complete as opposed to incomplete.

polisavvy March 17, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Yup. I did it correctly. I checked a little bit ago and it was there. It said complete and I saved it, too. Hopefully, I didn’t screw that up.

Help!! I can’t get registered. Any advice on what to do? I’d appreciate it and time is running out. Thank goodness I have my bracket already written out.

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 8:44 am

You have to have a yahoo account and be signed into it to join. Let me know if you still have issues.

John Konop March 16, 2010 at 9:19 am

I heard a rumor the OX campaign will be announcing OX picking Georgia to go all the way. And they are having an event for Michigan Sate vs. Georgia game Thursday with a margarita machine on Lake Lanier. :)

polisavvy March 16, 2010 at 10:55 am

BAhahahahahaha!!! Hysterical!!!! :)

Ken in Eastman March 17, 2010 at 11:07 am

Doug,

Are we supposed to do one bracket or two?

Thanks.

Doug Deal March 17, 2010 at 12:49 pm

I am using last years rules, they allowed 2.

Ken in Eastman March 17, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Cool. Thanks and off to post another bracket.

drjay March 18, 2010 at 1:27 pm

well i’m pretty well done already…stupid ‘nova!!!

polisavvy March 19, 2010 at 6:48 am

I guess 12-4 is not too bad a way to start this thing off, especially given the crazy scores and overtimes.

Ken in Eastman March 19, 2010 at 8:05 am

Georgetown and Vanderbilt just torpedoed me from the beginning. Of course, my bad choices might have contributed to this 9-7 fiasco.

polisavvy March 19, 2010 at 8:18 am

Don’t feel bad — things can improve dramatically today. I was really shocked at Georgetown’s game. Taking them out of the mix, the other three games I lost, I lost by a total of 13 points (one was an OT)(UNLV, Texas, and Richmond). At least my “Sweet 16″ still remains in tact. Good luck today, Ken! :)

ByteMe March 19, 2010 at 8:21 am

Same strategy as mine, get as many winners as possible into next weekend. So far, only Washington has ruined this weekend for me.

polisavvy March 19, 2010 at 8:42 am

Really? You thought that Georgetown was going down in the first round? I’m impressed!! That was my shock game. If today is as good as yesterday, then this is shaping up to be a great basketball. Getting all chores done by noon! I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my birthday than watching great college basketball! :)

ByteMe March 19, 2010 at 8:47 am

No, I missed on Georgetown, but I didn’t have them getting out of the second round.

polisavvy March 19, 2010 at 9:05 am

Me neither. I had Tennessee beating them. None of the losses yesterday have really hurt me so far.

Ken in Eastman March 19, 2010 at 8:43 am

Thanks!

polisavvy March 19, 2010 at 10:53 am

Good luck today with your picks! I wonder if it will be as crazy a day today as yesterday? Who will be upset next?

Daniel N. Adams March 20, 2010 at 7:16 pm

I’m Done! Stupid Lobos and Jayhawks.

ByteMe March 20, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Unless Kentucky takes a dive, I’m cooked as well.

polisavvy March 20, 2010 at 8:26 pm

I still have 7 of the Elite 8, and three of the final four. Glad I picked Kentucky. Still in shock over Kansas. Unbelievable!! :)
