Fail

I’m glad this failed.

The Macon City Council failed Tuesday to override the mayor’s veto of an ordinance that would give the council final say over the city’s future furloughs and layoffs.

In a roll call vote, the 15-member council — needing 10 council members to override Mayor Robert Reichert’s veto — could only muster eight votes.

I voted against the override. Letting Council be involved would turn a policy issue into a personal political issue.

I agree. Do you have a City Manager?

Macon has a Mayor and it is questionable if any one human could manage Macon anyway. Perhaps someone with circus experience – and a long whip and a big chair.
