The Macon City Council failed Tuesday to override the mayor’s veto of an ordinance that would give the council final say over the city’s future furloughs and layoffs. In a roll call vote, the 15-member council — needing 10 council members to override Mayor Robert Reichert’s veto — could only muster eight votes.
I voted against the override. Letting Council be involved would turn a policy issue into a personal political issue.

I agree. Do you have a City Manager?
Macon has a Mayor and it is questionable if any one human could manage Macon anyway. Perhaps someone with circus experience – and a long whip and a big chair.
