Making the case (again) for Jane Vandiver Kidd

Over at Peanut Politics we find some well formulated arguments why Jane Vandiver Kidd should jump into the race for the U.S. Senate against Johnny Isakson. While noting that R. J. Hadley is still worth running, several good points are made.

Of course, the “Draft Jane Vandiver Kidd” website is still online, drawing a steady stream of tens of visitors a quarter, as we’ve previously noted.

A Kidd candidacy still begs the question I asked here.

Meanwhile, I’d appreciate it if someone could call an ambulance for GriftDrift, who seems to have an aneurysm whenever this topic comes up.

Personally I hope the democrat party of Georgia signs he on for another tour as director of their party. Her work has been priceless.

Johnny Isakson would beat her like a drum and she knows it.

I just read the piece at Peanut Politics. I hope Jane runs and remains chairwoman at the GDP.

BillonCapitolHill January 14, 2010 at 10:18 am

she should run on looks alone

ByteMe January 14, 2010 at 10:20 am

Only if she’s trying to get elected as a Republican.

Kellie January 14, 2010 at 10:24 am

now you know that’s just plain wrong.

ByteMe January 14, 2010 at 10:47 am

Two words: Sarah Palin.

Kellie January 14, 2010 at 10:53 am

Are you saying Sarah is ugly or attractive?

ByteMe January 14, 2010 at 11:44 am

She’s irrationally loved by Republicans. Ask them.

kyleinatl January 14, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I don’t like anything else about her, but I think Sarah is pretty easy on the eyes…at least when her hair is down.

Mozart January 14, 2010 at 3:54 pm

What? You don’t like that hair-in-a-bun-School-Marm look? Naughty boy!

chamblee54 January 14, 2010 at 10:46 am

The lady does have some influence. She helped Kasim Reed beat Mary Norwood. So she could not possibly be racist.

Great a Party Chair (can you say ‘partisan polemic person’ five times quickly?) instead of a Statesperson.

That va-rooooom you here is me leaving the State, no doubt to the joy of some.

kyleinatl January 14, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Ehh…Johnny will never lose unless he gets a big name primary challenger.

drjay January 14, 2010 at 11:17 am

not my team, but she doesn’t seem like the worst option as a senate candidate all things considered

AthensRepublican January 14, 2010 at 11:37 am

Of course, Isakson would crush her. I do think her campaign would bring us all a boatload of entertaining analysis on her ridiculous comments and moronic views.

I know a lot of Democrats in Kidd’s own hometown of Athens that view Jane Kidd as an idiot.

georgiahack January 14, 2010 at 11:57 am

It would be the best thing for the DPG.

It puts up an interesting name against Isakson, who has no chance in hell of losing, and gets her out of the state party that she has run so far underground that I forgot they even existed.

Oh and to the “well formulated arguments” on the link (mentioned by Pete) is found this statement: “she can remind Georgia of the great legacy of her family with Black Voters .”

Yeah it was her father, Gov. Ernest Vandiver who once said “No not one” black child would ever sit in a classrooom with white children.

Steve Perkins January 14, 2010 at 12:55 pm

I don’t really have any thoughts on Jane Kidd one way or the other, beyond the Mary Norwood flyers that left a tremendous bad taste in my mouth. I know Andre has repeatedly tried to offer up some insider explanations, but they were so convoluted that I was left unsure what to think of Kidd.

What I DO know, however, is that the linked article does not “make the case” for Jane Kidd. It spends almost all of its content making the case for any generic Democrat. It makes almost no effort at for the next step, which would be making the case for Kidd as better than any generic Democrat. Toward THAT end, it basically just points out that she has a famous grandpappy and a vagina. Are you kidding me? (no pun intended) Pretty damning in its faint praise.

drjay January 14, 2010 at 1:00 pm

well, do YOU have a famous grandpappy and a vagina???

Pete Randall January 14, 2010 at 1:49 pm

If we still could, I’d give +1 points to drjay.

galiberal January 14, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Anything that will get her out of the DPG Chairmanship

Mozart January 14, 2010 at 3:56 pm

Money won’t flow to her like it has to Barnes. She won’t even be able to raise a million.

UGAalum January 14, 2010 at 4:29 pm

Please, please, please run…you would only strengthen Johnny’s chances.

fishtail January 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm

Pete…could you please remove Jane’s photo from this post…it scares me every time I log on.

Pete Randall January 14, 2010 at 7:27 pm

Yeah, it’s not her best photo. In my defense, it’s also the photo of her that Peanut Politics posted. If it’s good enough for them….

seenbetrdayz January 14, 2010 at 7:43 pm

So, how much more of a republican is she than Johnny?

Bill30097 January 14, 2010 at 11:09 pm

I hope somebody primaries this RINO Isakson.
