Thanks to the efforts of the Governor to ensure that tax dollars are perpetually spent on special elections, former Monticello mayor Susan Dykes Holmes has announced her candidacy for the District 125 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives now held by Jim Cole, who is going to be appointed Secretary of State. More here and here.

Too bad the people of District 125 will not have representation in the House when the legislature convenes in only one week. But then again, that did not seem to be an important consideration to Governor Perdue or former Representative Cole.

Well sometimes they go to jail and sometimes they get appointed to higher offices. What are we supposed to do? There’s already a mechanism in place. What do you suggest? Instant elections? If you can think of a better idea, write you local state Representative/Senator.

Mrs. Holmes is a fine lady and a good candidate. I wish her well.

Her maiden name will play well with the GOP base

It looks like a forced smile. She’s obviously hiding something.
