I’m catching up on some items we missed over the holidays. First up, Sally Yates was (finally) nominated to be the US Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.

A longtime assistant U.S. attorney, Yates has been the interim U.S. attorney since August, when her predecessor, David Nahmias, resigned to take a seat on the Georgia Supreme Court.

A 1982 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 1986 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Yates is perhaps best known for prosecuting former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell in a public corruption case.

Given the previous claims that Yates’ nomination was delayed due to some who may have resented her prosecution of Bill Campbell, I do find the timing of a Christmas Eve press release interesting.

Sally Yates is an outstanding choice and a great example of how hard work will, indeed, get you places.

Not to mention a very special relationship with Eric Holder. They have been tight for a long time.
