Just into the news basket is word that State Rep. John Lunsford will tomorrow, at the meeting of the majority caucus on the campus of Georgia Tech, resign his post as “Chairman of the Hawks” in the House (effective immediately) and then will offer to petition for a new election for any position that members want to step up and take action instead of just talking. The petition must have signatures from 30 percent of caucus members.

Lunsford feels that there has been too much dissention and turmoil in the caucus, so is deciding to this step in hopes of uniting the caucus, be it under new leadership or current united.

Just curious- have any of the candidates made a statement on the Hawk system? Something they support or oppose and why? Has anyone heard?

Good question. It deserves an answer.

Barry Loudermilk has said he opposes it.

Is Barry Loudermilk running for Speaker? I have not seen an announcement.

Obviously I didn’t have a clue what a “Hawk” was on a previous thread. Or maybe there’s still a tie-in with the “hawk” concept after all?
