A barometer for the Cagle campaign?

It can never been good for a campaign when you go to Google, type in your candidate’s name, and the number one “helpful term” which appears as you type includes said candidates name and the word “affair.”

Consider this an evening and overnight OPEN THREAD to ponder today’s events and anything else of interest.

Interesting – it really does. The Cagle campaign can thank the folks at PP for that.

If you click the search for “casey cagle affair” it pulls up a few blog posts including peach pundit blog posts.

People love to google the salacious rumors to get the dirt. Unfortunately for those curious fingers – the only thing it finds is the original rumor spreading garbage posts on PP.

Any “downtown liberals in the media” braving this ugly weather to head to Manuel’s for a lively discussion of our “state brothel?” Twitter if so.

SpaceyG December 8, 2009 at 6:12 pm

Guess I should say “Tweet if so.” To Tweet is the verb. To Twitter is not. (Having been corrected by a 17-year old on this matter during Thanksgiving dinner I consider my consciousness raised now.)

Ken in Eastman December 8, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Not quite “Hamlet” but close.

Georgia Judge December 8, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Randall,
Despite the concerted efforts and character assasanation of the frontpage posters here at PP I will make a prediction that he runs unopposed for the nomination and absolutely destroys any Demacrat that runs against him in the general.

Mad Dog December 8, 2009 at 6:42 pm

LOL!

Damn you are funny, Georgia Judge.

He’s running unopposed. When his ‘bad back’ gave out, Perdue cut him a deal by getting everyone else out of the Lt. Gov.’s race to console the poor boy.

Had nothing to do with blondes, padding in his resume’s, lies he made to bank investors…. etc etc etc…

Just another example of how a few people have too much power.

He’s done if anyone gets in the primary against him. Including Ralph “I never had a Lewinski” Reed.

Jeff December 8, 2009 at 8:33 pm

If he’s not opposed in the Primary, it only makes him that much easier for an L or a D to pick off.

Howard Roark December 8, 2009 at 9:09 pm

I believe he will be opposed int he primary.

IndyInjun December 8, 2009 at 6:39 pm

These days “banker” is lower than than “pervert.”

“Politician” AND “Banker” should be poison.

Mad Dog December 8, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Indy,

THAT was funny. Because it’s true. Banker, politician, former real estate developer, … he might want to add a law degree to his online resume’.

Right after the press release stating he graduated from Gainesville College and Georgia Southern.

WOW – I just did that and the responses (in order of relevance) were
1. Affair
2. for Governor
3. and Elizabeth Dewberry
4. Biography

Part-Time Atlanta December 9, 2009 at 1:17 pm

Unbelievable.

Game Fan December 9, 2009 at 7:50 pm

She looks like more of a strawberry blonde. But definitely hot. Input data to bat computer underway. A slight adjustment to the theory. This thing has a life of it’s own. Too much information.
Computer overload

Danger Will Robinson

Uh Oh Jongo

Getting outta here. She’s gonna blow. (Somebody had to say it.)

fundy1611 December 8, 2009 at 10:47 pm

Ditto on …. reply function not working.

John Konop December 9, 2009 at 7:19 am

Should not the leadership ask Casey to step aside for new candidates like David Shafer?

Ken in Eastman December 10, 2009 at 1:01 pm

We would be fortunate to have someone like David Shafer.

ByteMe December 9, 2009 at 9:11 am

Dawgs aren’t going “thru” Shreveport… It’s the merciful end of the line for this year’s team. Couldn’t even get a Jan 1 game. Pitiful.

I think the matchup should have been against FSU for Bowden’s last game. That would have at least added some nice undertones that A&M doesn’t provide.

Meanwhile, the Gators are getting some Sugar lovin’.

Bucky Plyler December 9, 2009 at 9:33 am

Byte, your Bulldog hatred is going to give your scaly self ulccrs someday. Enjoy the Sugar Bowl & woop those pretenders. (I’ll probably pull for them, though.) MERRY CHRISTMAS !

ByteMe December 9, 2009 at 9:55 am

I absolutely DO NOT hate the Dawgs. How can you truly hate your retarded little brother? :)

Yes, it’s easier to give a good shot when you’re standing on top. I suffered through the Herschel years at UF by acting disinterested. This is a bit more fun.

Yes, I will even pull for Bama. We need to keep showing the country that the SEC has the best football teams in NCAAF so that we all can be part of the BCS mix for years to come.

Holly December 9, 2009 at 4:05 pm

We need to keep showing the country that the SEC has the best football teams in NCAAF so that we all can be part of the BCS mix for years to come.

Amen. Because even the most evil SEC bunch is better than a Big-10 or PAC-10 team.

Ken in Eastman December 10, 2009 at 1:03 pm

And I will grit my teeth and pull for the Gators against a Cincinnati team that is long overdue for a huge whoopin’.

And, of course, Go Dawgs!

ByteMe December 9, 2009 at 9:11 am

Wow. The Reply handling on this thread really sucks!

Painterman December 10, 2009 at 9:55 am

There is no way Cagle runs in the primary without opposition. He needs to step aside and if Johnson is smart, he drops back to Lt Gov race.

Mad Dog December 10, 2009 at 11:04 am

Doesn’t Cagle official bio refer to his college football career?

Maybe there’s a job for him with the Cleveland Browns?

BTW, he’s a robot when shaking hands …

Mad Dog December 10, 2009 at 11:06 am

Cagle says he had a college football career.

Was he any good?

Ken in Eastman December 10, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Didn’t you see the movie???

You know, Adam Sandler played the title character.

Mad Dog December 15, 2009 at 12:06 pm
redrock December 8, 2009 at 6:53 pm

Mad Dog –

Come on. You conspiracy theorist guys crack me up.

You really think that is what happened?

I’ve always thought that particular story was humorous. When has Perdue ever wielded that much power? Ever?

He hasn’t. Don’t make stuff up.

ByteMe December 8, 2009 at 6:56 pm

A good conspiracy theory is based on the most convoluted nonsense somehow happening in exactly the right way.

Mad Dog December 9, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Red,

I’ve been burned! Flame ON!

Yeah, it’s the internet, invented by Al Gore. Who dares to believe anyone that blogs.

Clone Of B. Plyler December 8, 2009 at 7:43 pm

What do you think of Bama?

Icarus December 8, 2009 at 7:53 pm

I can’t tell you until I see his long form birth certificate.

AubieTurtle December 8, 2009 at 9:02 pm

I think Will Muschamp is asking the coaches at his old job how they kept Alabama contained for fifty eight minutes. Both teams have had close calls… if they both bring their A Game, it’ll be quite the slugfest. If either plays like they did against Auburn or Nebraska, the other will slaughter them.

ByteMe December 9, 2009 at 6:26 am

They had the better team that day. What do you think of your school? Where’s Shreveport anyway? :)

ready2rumble December 8, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Wasn’t part of Casey’s stump speech – something about being hatched on a chicken farm, if that’s true, do you need a long form birth certificate?

fundy1611 December 8, 2009 at 10:46 pm

It’s in the same place as Handel’s high school diploma. :)

Icarus December 8, 2009 at 8:01 pm

For some reason, the “reply” function wasn’t working. It’s a response to Bucky’s wanting my opinion of (O)Bama.

AubieTurtle December 8, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Long form? Gee, the NCAA and BCS are getting tough on eligibility.

Clone Of B. Plyler December 8, 2009 at 9:18 pm

do over..what do you think of Roll Tide, Alabama…I guess Byte doesn’t think much of them.

Bucky Plyler December 9, 2009 at 9:02 am

It’s still Go DAWGS , Byte, & Shreveport is a nice place to go thru! I watched the FL-AL game & I swear that Forrest Gump ran for 100 yards, too.

Ken in Eastman December 9, 2009 at 1:23 pm

I’m hoping that Will and Kirby are both checking to see if they can get out of their current contracts and interview for a certain defensive coordinator position in Clarke County.

Ken in Eastman December 9, 2009 at 1:24 pm

OK, that was supposed to be a reply to AubieTurtle’s post at December 8, 2009 at 9:02 pm.

ChuckEaton December 10, 2009 at 9:49 am

The trouble for Kirby is heading to Athens would be a lateral move. I know he’s an alumnus, but he’s already a top assistant at one of the best programs in the country. Most of the time, these guys don’t move just for the sake of moving. Kirby will be leaving Alabama at some point, but my guess is it will be for a head coaching job.

Ken in Eastman December 10, 2009 at 1:07 pm

ChuckEaton,

All true and all well-said, but dream die hard. I’m still hoping.
