I’m told Mr. Fuchko is the youngest person to hold this position:
John M. Fuchko III has been appointed chief audit officer and associate vice chancellor of Internal Audit for the University System of Georgia (USG) by Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr., effective Dec. 1.
Fuchko, who joined the staff of the University System’s Office of Internal Audits in July 2006, has been serving in the office’s lead position on an interim basis since it was vacated last spring by former Chief Auditor Ron Stark, who accepted a position at a university in Saudi Arabia.
“John Fuchko is a great example of leadership development within our System,” Chancellor Davis said. “First, he was a student leader. Now, he is a University System of Georgia leader and also a military leader. He is yet another example of the vast talent and depth of experience we have in the University System. Over time, his work will change the way the University System approaches the management of enterprise-wide risks.”
I only met John recently, but he is a close friend of a variety of people for whom I have much respect, and they’re pretty happy for him. Congrats to John and his family.
