Rumors: Lunsford for Majority Leader or Speaker Pro-Tem

Got word that several legislators have approached Rep. John Lunsford about running for Majority Leader or Speaker Pro-Tem. Word is that Lunsford was flattered by any consideration by his colleagues, but has not decided if he will pursue either position.

It’s nice to hear that other names are surfacing. Lunsford or anyone else who offers themselves as candidates for leadership should be subject to the same litmus test. If you supported Glenn Richardson when you had a chance to vote him out, you should automatically be disqualified. That includes Burkhalter and Keen. Not sure where Lunsford stands on this but he should make it known. There were a few who had the courage to stand up when no one else would and don’t look so bad now. Doug Collins, Tommy Benton, Tim Bearden, John Meadows, and Terry England were ridiculed on this board for doing the right thing. Even though England and Benton supported Glenn Richardson last week, all of them should be commended for risking everything. That’s the kind of courage that is needed in a new leadership team. Wipe the slate clean and start over.

Interesting information. I don’t know John Lunsford but heard he is a good legislator. I also agree with Muscadine’s comments above. It took guts for those representatives to take on the bully Glenn Richardson. But, since the Majority Leader’s position is not vacant how would they call for an election for this position? What are the rules on that? I never had much of an opinion one way or another on Jerry Keen, but the more I hear the less impressed I am. Seems he is part of the same corrupt clique. Of course Mark Burkhalter won’t even call an election. I guess he is scared he does not have the votes. Thanks for this information.

Keen must go, no doubt. Mr.Christian Right surely knew about Mr. and Mrs. AGL.

I wonder how safe Earhart is? Not suggesting he should be sacked, just know he and Richardson are buds.

The entire leadership needs to be replaced – Richardson was step one – step two – Burkhalter, Keen, and Earhart.

To keep credibility, heads must roll.

Barring a resignation from the Majority Leader and the rest of the leadership what would be the procedure to call a vote during the middle of their terms?

Call a vote for what exactly? To get them tossed from office or to have them lose their seat at the cool guys’ table in the cafeteria?

New leadership is needed. With Richardson on the way out, the rest of his cronies must go. Republicans had a choice last November. A serious change in leadership would require some of the 25 or 26 that supported Ralston last time to run to replace the cronies.

If you dislike the hawk system, you probably would not want Lunsford. He is the senior hawk, and yes there really is that designation. He wears a name tag designating him as such and his bio includes that.
