In Warner Robins

Like in Atlanta, no surprises.

Chuck Shaheen became the city’s next mayor Tuesday night, besting opponent Chuck Chalk by less than 200 votes.

Shaheen, 49, took 2,927 of the 5,664 total votes cast for mayor in the runoff election. Mike Daley won the City Council Post 1 seat, receiving 3,317 votes to 2,048 for opponent Linda Carnes.

And both good qualified candidates. Congrats to Chuck Shaheen. I do know he comes from a good family.

It was also interesting that the turnout for the runoff election was only 270 voters short of the general election, which was still pitiful.

Chalk showed well, taking 4 of 6 precincts, but not enough to overcome the large majority in the “Holmes” precinct that stayed home or switched to Shaheen.

We have not heard the last from Chuck Chalk, nor should we. Blessings to Chuck Shaheen, he has his work cut out for him.
