What in the world has been going on in the Appalachian Judicial Circuit?

As the investigations continue, Superior Court Judge Oliver Harris Doss Jr. has resigned, effective December 1, 2009. But the allegations against him range from taking state computers, insulting and threatening court staff and the repeated failure to rule on cases for months or even years.

This situation, in part, also points out some problems with Georgia’s Judicial Qualifications Commission, which features one of the slimmest staffs in the nation.

Could this lead to the Honorable David Ralston? Could open up a State House seat, if Rep. Ralston decides to trade in the Gold Dome and trial attorney work for a seat behind the bench. I would imagine he would be a super strong (likely one of the best) candidates for that job.

With the information before me, and since there’s no jury anywhere in the vicinity, I have no choice but to pronounce this guy a total scumbag.

Now, now…that just raises the bar for what “total scumbag” means.

For instance, what if he had done all that AND cheated on his wife? OR, pawed a secretary? OR, tortured cats for fun?

A “scumbag” will suffice here. No need for a “total” tag.

Not so fast. There’s always room for additional adjectives. For example, if he had sex with a cow that would make him a total “udder” scumbag.
