In 2008, Anne Purcell lost to Buddy Carter in the GOP Primary. Now Carter is in the Senate and Purcell just won her old seat back.

It was actually 2004 when Purcell lost to Carter. Carter endorsed Purcell to succeed him.

Who needs facts?

maybe it was just a typo–the date is less important than he beat her in a runoff–and now in the special election she won her seat back…

He did NOT beat her in a runoff. They were the only two running.

that WAS a typo–i meant primary–it says primary in the post–i voted in that primary–just flubbed it by typing runoff–sorry…

…and it’s Ann, not Anne.

hey daemonback–maybe the “e” was a typo too…

Perhaps it was, drjai. Perhaps it was.

Buddy defeated Purcell in the regular Republican Primary in 2004. She had switched parties a couple months prior to that Primary. There was no runoff in ’04, it was settled in the primary.

Buddy was our client for that ’04 House race, and then again for Senate in yesterday’s special election. I can honestly say I’ve seen very, very few people as dedicated to winning as Buddy Carter.

Congratulations to both of them yesterday. They’ll both do well.
