I think that was an early reporting. Nonetheless, I think it is obvious he is not running a traditional campaign. There is another way to look at it: if that is all the money he has used, how in the world is he doing so well with party regulars. I think he is doing he better with grassroots organizations. That should give great concern to the good old boys who belong to the club. I would not rule out him writing a nice check.

I like Gerry a lot. He really connects with voters in person but $9,700 in contributions really isn’t going to get you far in a statewide race.

What are you smoking. Deal didn’t even take 40% of the straw poll vote in Union County, which is part of the 9th.

The people of the 9th understand that you don’t elect a congressman that is more interested in lining their own pocket vs looking out for the people in the district.

Deal brokers a meeting on water, concludes that he can;t do anything about it, so says have at it Sonny. The federal judge says congress has to act.

Why would we want to bring a Washington back bencher back to Georgia to lead our great state? Deal with it, Deal hasn’t accomplished anything except making himself richer.

I don’t know. From what I have been reading Deal is already trailing smoke. With those credentials we shouldn’t have a strong candidate like Ox who will be trailing smoke right around the corner when the AJC opens fire on him. Or when Joe Six Pack actually gets a chance to hear the spoon fed rich boy open up with that prissy fake down home diatribe .

Nathan will be the next governor, accept it. He is the most qualified candidate we have ever had. But beyond that, he is a decent, kind, fair man. Every once in a while the good guy wins, Nathan Deal is that good guy.

How could you be so blind. I use to be a HUGE Nathan Deal supporter, but the man is corrupt. I don’t see how you can be a Reagan Republican rooting for a man who used YOUR tax dollars to line his pockets. Wake up Georgians and stop being so naive, Ox and Deal are both corrupt. They may make it to a the primary run off, but if either of these two make it past the primary go ahead and mark Barnes, Baker, DuBose, or Poythress as the general election winner. As a life long Republican who has never voted for anything but Republican I may have to make an exception for this election or just not vote.

Lets get REAL. The 9th district will account for 30% of the GOP primary vote of which 90% will go for Deal. Deal being on the ticket and the hot congressional race will cause the 9th to jump from 21% in the last primary to 30% in this one. Deal will take Cherokee and compete fiercely in Cobb, Gwinnett, and middle Georgia. This will guarantee him a place in the top two. In the runoff the 9th will guarantee him victory. The truth may be hard to swallow. Simply put, DEAL with it. Nathan will be Georgia’s finest Governor yet.

Gerry Purcell is for real. Not only is he winning in every straw poll, in every part of the state, but he is winning by double digits in a field of 7. Many times I have noticed he has a bigger percentage of the vote than the rest of the field combined…impressive.

I stopped by on the way to Jacksonville. Should have just stayed in Glynn because the game was so terrible. Overall seemed like a ton of staff there. Oxendine had quite a few t-shirted people (including the lady adding up the results), Deal drove in with his posse of 6 staffers (Cars had Glynn County tags) Karen had 3 or 4 that I could tell , Kemp had about 10 in t-shirts, and the straw poll king Gerry Purcell was there with his crew of about 4.
