(1) The union crowd showed up at City Council tonight to protest my most recent column about union thuggery and why we should disband the police if they go union. I stand by the column and they proved my point.

(2) I have my national radio debut on Thursday. I’ll be filling in for Fred Thompson on his radio show, co-hosting with Jeri Thompson. The show is growing amazingly well. It’s on several hundred stations across the country now. My goal remains to guest host for Rush.

I remember the good old days, back around 9/12/09, when showing up to protest was patriotic, unlike the really good old days, like 2005 or 8:00pm this evening, when protesting was evidence of thuggery.

Don’t try pointing out double standards Ickypoo.

Kind of like Pringles, once you start you just can’t stop.

I love the “I proved my point when they protested my point” non-logic.

The paranoia works for you, Erick. Don’t change a thing.

“But enough about me. Let’s talk bout you. What do you think about me?”

Glenn Beck….Fred Thompson…..Rush Limbaugh……will the Peach Pundit gang have a nationally syndicated show soon?

Doug Deal October 6, 2009 at 9:58 pm

And will Spacey, who is a girl, live blog it?

You sure about that girl thing?

The Punditeers Gang….could preempt the Georgia Gang.

Nathan October 6, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I’m sure the show would quickly descend into silliness.

Congratulations Erick!!! You’ve been in the trenches and worked your tail off. Good luck!!!

BTW, the trailer for The Crazies is out. Given the swine flu hype, I think they couldn’t have promoted it at a better time! http://www.thecrazies-movie.com/

Replace Krok, please. I like my Woos from Ric Flair, not a talk radio host.

I have always been a big supporter of men and women willing to do the tough thankless job of police work. I do think an issue like this should be dealt with a less confrontational approach in my opinion.

So let’s see here… the City Council gets to have meetings (during which they presumably get paid), and discuss/organize/strategize about what to offer the cops, with the full weight of the government behind their decision. But the cops have to negotiate individually- which is to say, not at all. Have I got that right?

If they want to “organize”, they have to do it on their own time, and by themselves- they are not allowed to hire someone to represent them. If they did want to “negotiate” individually, exactly how would they do that? Are they supposed to show up at a City Council meeting and try to get on the agenda?

On the other hand, I’m sure the City Council doesn’t need any input from the cops about what they need to do their jobs better. I suppose there is some report put out by the National Association of City Councils (or something) that describes the average compensation package for cops, and that Macon is 20% below the average in cost of living, and what else do you need to know? The cops should just trust the Council to look out for their best interests and in their wisdom and expertise too. After all, it is not an antagonistic relationship. If the City has to cut back on pay or benefits or equipment, it’s nothing personal.
