Statement from the Oxendine campaign

The Oxendine campaign has released a statement regarding Kyle Constable. Thomas Wheatley has it up with a a whole lot more.

The Oxendine camp sent it to us as well, which I’m happy to post:

Over the past several months, Gabe Winslow, our 28 year old web strategy director, has had numerous conversations with 15-year-old blogger Kyle Constable.  Kyle’s call to our campaign on Wednesday was to ask how we were using the emails from the www.youcanstopobama.com.  ”I had a good conversation with Kyle today, and so did our strategist, Jeff Breedlove,” said Gabe Winslow.  ”He had some good suggestions and we modified our site based on his savvy advice.”

“Kyle’s feeling of being bullied saddens me,” said Breedlove.  ”We certainly did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings or have them feel like we were bossing them around.  His own blog posts seem to indicate that the feeling was mutual.”

Congratulations to Kyle for forcing the Ox camp’s hand on this one. They actually responded more directly to this than even to the various issues raised on THIS illustrious forum.

and of COURSE they’re going to deny this. They’re snakes.

Of course, their worshippers are going to believe every word of this statement and try to denigrate Kyle.

But hey, maybe these antics will open a few eyes about Ox. After all, you can’t convince them all – and all you really need is 50%+1…

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 2:29 pm

It’s kind of fascinating to me that a 20-something male blogger like Sexton gets involved in so much of the life of a 15-year-old male blogger. Are you on a texting basis with him, Jeff?

galiberal August 7, 2009 at 2:13 pm

I’m afraid to say @$$ cause I do not want to lose my posting privilege like Andre, but I think they are trying to “Cover their @$$”

I might add that this story went out in the ThinkProgress newsletter to 100,000′s, can’t be good for the Ox

Technocrat August 7, 2009 at 2:21 pm

Ga liberals remember OX will get 16-20% of the Democratic Minority vote in the November election if Roy Barnes is his primary’s winner. Be careful who you wish for.

galiberal August 7, 2009 at 3:12 pm

Why do you think he will pull such a high minority vote?

Technocrat August 7, 2009 at 5:13 pm

http://sos.georgia.gov/elections/election_results/2006_1107/009.htm

Besides Ox getting 600,000+ more votes than his Democratic opponent he got 16,000 more in Fulton. Losing in Dekalb he still pulled 73K vs 97K and similar situations in Clayton 18.2K vs 27k.

15% crossed over look at individual in county polling.

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 5:36 pm

PLUS…if Barnes beats Thurbert Baker, there will be resentment from the minority community against Barnes for doing that. Better add about 35% more of the minority vote onto the Republican side if Baker does not dropout and Barnes beats him in the Dem primary.

Romegaguy August 8, 2009 at 9:06 pm

so only blacks vote in Fulton county

griftdrift August 7, 2009 at 2:17 pm

So does this mean I’m an Ox worshiper since I don’t necessarily agree with the official SW Ga storyline?

Well, at least maybe it’ll stop the Democrats from claiming I’m Handel’s shill.

Chris August 7, 2009 at 2:24 pm

We all know you’re a McBerry supporter Grift.

Jeff August 7, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Grift:

Again, look at Breedlove’s track record, and look at how avidly Kyle has supported Ox up until last night.

Do YOU have a better explanation for what has transpired?

griftdrift August 7, 2009 at 2:33 pm

Sure Jeff. I could put together about a dozen. Once again I ask, you said you would verify something you mother said. Why different in this case?

Kyle Constable August 7, 2009 at 2:37 pm

Let me clarify this, I was a public supporter of John Oxendine before this entire thing happened. I was a member of various Facebook groups for Oxendine, I even spoke in support of him at my local Tea Party in Leesburg back on April 15th. If people ever asked who I supported for Governor, I answered, “John Oxendine.” I even tried to sway others to join him or to at least have a halfway decent view of him. I signed up on his campaign website to volunteer and even went and posted his Facebook fan page on MANY Facebook groups. I was a public supporter of Oxendine before this happened and now I am not because of his campaign staff mistreating me. That’s the truth.

Doug Deal August 7, 2009 at 3:03 pm

Kyle,

People in the heat of a campaign can get so fixated on their goal that they fail to put things into proper perspective. It becomes all about winning, not matter the cost.

Don’t let this episode dissuade you from becoming part of the process in the future.

galiberal August 7, 2009 at 3:14 pm

Kyle,

I don’t blame you! If Karen mistreats you also, I have some good contacts at the Democratic campaigns. :)

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 3:25 pm

Those contacts in the Democratic campaigns that GaLib offers will likely be members of NAMBLA.

ReaganRepublican August 8, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Kyle,
Do I have a DEAL for you………

Jeff August 7, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Because I know, possibly better than anyone on this forum other than Kyle himself, how deeply committed Kyle was to Ox’s candidacy. I first heard him speak at the Leesburg Tax Day Tea Party, and I’ve talked to him several times over the months since. Note that I really don’t know him at all other than politically.

griftdrift August 7, 2009 at 2:53 pm

So you trust him more than your mother? Or was your previous statements about verification just blowing smoke?

Jeff August 7, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Without a recording of the conversation, it is one word against another, with no way to truly prove it either way. In such a situation, it comes down to who do you trust more. (Which, in such a scenario, I would obviously trust my mom.)

In this one, Breedlove has ZERO credibility with me, and Kyle has always been honest with me from what I can tell.

There is no way to fully verify this and you know it, and you’re right, if Breedlove didn’t have the track record he does (or even if I simply didn’t know about it/have personal experience with it), I would be more circumspect about Kyle’s claim.

Unfortunately for Breedlove, he DOES have the track record of trying to intimidate people, and therefore when a story like this comes to my attention, I tend to believe it.

griftdrift August 7, 2009 at 3:13 pm

“There is no way to fully verify this and you know it,”

Wanna bet?

The Georgia Teen Republicans strongly condones Treasurer Kyle Constable’s actions regarding his post about Commissioner John Oxendine. Kyle stepped over the line by personally attacking a respected state-wide Republican official, as well as violated his word by going public with an off the record phone call.

Actions are being taken by the Executive Board to resolve this situation from the interior. The Georgia Teen Republicans encourage free speech, but all Republican Party elected officials are held to a higher standard regarding their speech than an average citizen.

So they condone it but believe that he stepped over the line as well? This message is confusing on so many levels…They believe in free speech but…

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 3:07 pm

“Free speech” is for individuals. However, if you are a member of an organization, in an official role, you may or may not be considered an “individual” in that role in that organization.

Chris August 7, 2009 at 3:17 pm

I have it on good authority that you can’t say bad things about the Lt. Governor while working for the state.

Doug Deal August 7, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I think i have met that same authority Chris.

DoubleDawg3 August 7, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Trey – You’re not supporting any particular candidate, are you?

I sure hope not — or your organization has ZERO credibility.

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 5:38 pm

DDawg,

If Trey is supporting a candidate, and is NOT public about it, he and his organization are fine.

DoubleDawg3 August 8, 2009 at 11:05 am

Bill,

You’re right about that…unless of course he has a personal preference for candidate and if that candidate is attacked by someone else he rushes out a press release speaking out against that person and using the “organization” as the reason for doing so. I wonder if that’s the case here? I mean, would the same release have come out if someone had spoken negatively about Karen or Deal, or McBerry even? Who knows?

tocallaghan August 7, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Grammatical Error, we strongly disapprove.

anewday August 7, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Ah sorry. I was typing away as you were doing the same.

ByteMe August 7, 2009 at 3:26 pm

Darn that Georgia public education!!!

gatormathis August 7, 2009 at 3:14 pm

….to quote another Republican on matters such as these…..

..”It’s better to be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt”……

…all ya’ll cats got a lot of time to screw yourselves up between now and next November…….in addition to what others will do for you…

Yeah!!! You go Teen republicans. Go right ahead and hear no evil see no evil.
I love it how you people are so quick to point out the shortcomings of your opposition party, but fail to address the trash that goes on in your own backyard, where you actually can do something about it.

Hope you elect this piece of artwork.
