Democratic Party of Georgia Attacks Ox Over ObamaCare Website

Today the Democratic Party of Georgia sent out an email with the subject line “You’ve got to be kidding me!” to supporters taking direct aim and the new website set up by John Oxendine and mentioned here and here.

The email signed by Matt Weyandt, ED of the Party, started,

Yesterday, one of our Democratic Party of Georgia staff members walked into my office and said, “Matt, you’ve got to see this.  John Oxendine has started a website to stop health care reform.”

I was floored.  John Oxendine, Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner and right-wing candidate for Governor, has started a website to stop health care reform?

This certainly can’t hurt Oxendine chances to become the Republican nominee for Governor.

The email continues, before asking for a contribution,

His hypocrisy would be funny, if the need for health care reform was not so pressing.  We have 1.6 million Georgians who don’t have health care today, and over 95% of them are either working or looking for work.

I believe that John Oxendine ought to be looking out for those folks, but instead he’s doing what he’s always done, toting water for the big insurance companies.

When you take a look at John Oxendine’s smear site, it’s nothing new – the same trash and distortion that Republican mouthpieces like Rush Limbaugh have been dropping all over the country.  Here at the Democratic Party of Georgia, we believe in the truth.  That’s why we’ve got a new page on our website, dedicated to rebutting the distortions of John Oxendine and folks like him.  You can see for yourself at www.georgiademocrat.org/healthcarefacts.

This kind of attack by the Democrats is probably worth more than the extra email addresses Oxendine might collect with the site.

A buffoon like Oxendine getting the GOP nomination is probably worth more to the DPG than the credit they might be able to claim for getting their government run healthcare plan passed in Congress.

How dare they fight back! Didn’t they learn anything over the last 8 years? Foolish, foolish Democrats.

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 1:15 pm

Seems like to me the Dems are already lining up against Ox for the General Election…..

Jeff August 6, 2009 at 1:25 pm

just because they are laying their groundwork supporting something that the National Democrats are pushing doesn’t mean they are lining up against Ox for the General, TG.

Classic misleading statement from an Ox supporter. Go figure.

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 2:10 pm

I don’t recall them sending out an email against the Handel petition.

There’s nothing misleading about my statement.

Jeff August 6, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Voter Verification also wasn’t a pet DNC issue like Obamacare is.

Again, your statement is misleading because you claim the Dems are lining up against Ox, when in reality they are lining up against ANY opponent of Obamacare.

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 2:35 pm

“John Oxendine, Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner and right-wing candidate for Governor.”

“His hypocrisy would be funny……”

“I believe that John Oxendine ought to be looking out for those folks but instead he’s doing what he’s always done, toting water for the big insurance companies.”

“….dedicated to rebutting the distortions of John Oxendine and folks like him.”

Those are personal comments and attacks against Oxendine NOT generic statements against an opponent of Obamacare.

Deal has been VERY vocal against this garbage. I don’t recall the DPG sending out an email slamming him.

benevolus August 6, 2009 at 3:35 pm

He’s got 38%, the next candidate has 16. Why wouldn’t they line up (in August) against him?

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 1:31 pm

Once again True Grit answer the questions?

OX TEAM

First Medicare is government run healthcare. And we all know unless we get this under control the federal deficit will explode. My question is simple unless we get end of life spending under control than how do we afford this? Should tax payers pay for a hip replacement on a person with less than 6 moths to live? Should tax payers pay for a brain dead person heath care? How does the free market system fix this problem? Once again what is OX calling for the end of Medicare and or county hospitals treating the uninsured and or underinsured?

Can the OX team answer the questions? I guess they avoid the questions and or attack.

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 1:35 pm

Do you ever get a feeling the OX TEAM is avoiding dealing with real issues? Can NO FROM THE OX TEAM ANSWER a few simple questions about an issue you guys claim he is an expert on?

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Sorry

….Can NO ONE FROM THE OX TEAM ANSWER ….

Jason Shepherd August 6, 2009 at 2:20 pm

No one officially on the Oxendine Team blogs here, John (at least as far as I know).

Why not email him or try to get him on your radio show to ask him the question? He gives out his blackberry email address to everyone.

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 2:01 pm

The problem with answering a few “simple” issues with you John is that you seem to always turn the answers given to you into fodder against that persons’ Christianity.

Jeff August 6, 2009 at 2:04 pm

speaking of the Ox’s ‘Christianity’, he reaffirmed his intent to rule by Theocracy today.

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 2:53 pm

True Grit

I instead of just spinning BS why not answer the questions? I will tell you why because all you ever do is repeat mindless talking points! At the end of the day you have no real answers!

We all see through your game of attacking and avoiding the real issue that you have not thought out past a chant at a football game

Face it you are just like Bush and his supporters, all talk about fiscal issues but at end it is just a side show!

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Sorry
…Instead…

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Nobody spoke of Ox’s Christianity.

Jeff August 6, 2009 at 2:42 pm

dude, you mentioned in 40 minutes ago. Is your memory THAT bad? Explains why you support Ox…

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 3:19 pm

I wonder how True Grit will spin this as an attack against OX?

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Dude….you need to learn to read. I said anyone that answers one of Konop’s questions gets attacked about his Christianity. Nowhere in that response did it mention or infer Oxendine.

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 3:24 pm

Do you mind if I call you True BS instead True Grit? John Wayne took issues head on he did not hide like you do!

Bill Simon August 6, 2009 at 4:21 pm

In the movie True Grit, actor John Wayne played the role of a cowboy, John Konop. Do you understand that by saying “John Wayne took issues head on” that you are confusing what an actor does in a movie role with what he might actually do in REAL LIFE?

True Grit August 6, 2009 at 4:08 pm

As I’m not a spokesperson for the Oxendine campaign, you should take Sheps advice and email Ox yourself. Or are you afraid he might answer your question honestly?

John Konop August 6, 2009 at 8:37 pm

True Grit

I did send the questions and still do not have an answer. So I guess you have no idea why you support OX based on real issues.

Georgia was a solid Red State.

So the DPG tries to further align themselves with the National Party, despite Georgia’s Conservative tendencies?

Sounds like a bad idea to me. A moderate stance would be wiser, I think. Alas, I am still baffled why Ox made this website. The relevance to the Gubernatorial Election also escapes me. Unless the DPG is affirming with this that a program like universal health care is a State Rights issue, but I seriously doubt that. Newsflash, Ox can’t stop Obama.

macho August 6, 2009 at 10:49 pm

I’ve been waiting with baited breath to hear the Ox’s opinion on Bill Clinton’s trip to North Korea, the “cash for clunkers” program and the fact Paula Abdul won’t be returning to American Idol next year. Please Ox, can’t you do something about these things – perhaps a Constitutional Convention – Paula needs you.

bartsimpsonisdaman August 7, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Hey dudes, everyone and their momma know that Oxendine is in the tank for insurance companies. Hell, his wife is some big wig sales rep for Blue Cross. Gotta protect the family business.

Word on the street is he’s got the shake down of all the insurance companies. Its now called pay to play.

Hope y’all elect this goon!

I would far rather have an attorney who is fighting on behalf of the people as opposed to some limp wristed professional politician running this state. GO BARNES!!!

Bill Simon August 7, 2009 at 5:41 pm

I, for one, am glad to see that mentally handicapped people like “bartsimpson” here can blog to help them feel empowered in the world.
