I have turned Andre’s access to the front page off.
I do think his post comes off a bit as peeing on the floor of your host’s house. Any perusal of the comments makes it obvious I’m really lenient on what people say around here, even about me. And I don’t have a problem with a front page poster attacking me for something, though it is a bit discourteous.
But we have never tolerated and won’t tolerate the use of expletives like the F word in front page posts. We may say the word, but we try here to keep the posts family friendly. I’d redacted the word from Andre’s post and apologize to those of you who encountered it in your reading.

Didn’t you call Justice Souter a Goat-F’er or did you do that one one of the other hate sites you run?
Nah, that was Twitter. Erick does love to post about masturbation and semen here, but would NEVER drop an f-bomb on this “family friendly” blog!
It’s kind of a bummer about Andre, because he was far more articulate and credible than SpaceyG ever was… and Lord knows not even Andre the Giant would be enough to provide balance in this place. But yeah, I can’t really defend this “wardrobe malfunction”… how hard is it to add asterisks or hyphens to your f—ing posts?
1. Masturbation in proper context is permitted in journalism. The F-word is not and will always be bleeped.
2. He never actually said semen, Steve. How many 4yr olds will read “little swimmers” and think “Hey, Erick is talking about semen.”
Nice try!
Memo to any 4-year olds who are currently reading this: what the hell are you doing here?!? You should probably be visiting this website instead…

You are being stupid. You can’t (or shouldn’t rather) ban him for quoting you. I know you say stupid sh!t all the time, but banning someone because you don’t like them dragging up something you have said is just wrong. Stand behind your statement, or stand down.
Andre should have “bleeped” the word since this is a more public venue than Tweeter.
Hopefully it won’t be a permanent ban since I agree that Andre was, overall, a great balance. While I rarely agreed with him, I do believe he’s a valuable part of the PP community.
One can disagree without being disagreeable.
I thought the entire blog was “bleeping-proof?” As in, once you use the word, the post gets estopped from being posted?
Turns out it’s just the comments, since I tried to quote the original post and into the cybertrash it went.
Wow, then don’t EVER give Bill S. front-page posting rights!
The lunatic right — Erickson, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Boortz, Coulter, Tancredo, Gingrich — are no longer relevant to anyone or anything.
The sole purpose of their existence is to utterly defame and attack anyone who disagrees with their crude 19th century view of the world in the slightest, and they’re increasingly looking like a mental ward to the rest of the world.
Seriously, what actual good policy ideas have come out of these folks, or even strong arguments? All they do is whine and moan and scream at the top of their lungs. Who needs these people? They’re hot air defined.
Sorry Erick but this makes you look petty. Wasn’t the use of the F word quoting you? And if you want Peach Pundit to be the Erick echo chamber, then your point about peeing on the host’s floor is valid but otherwise it sounds like you consider your opinions to be above those of everybody else.
Now I will say that Andre does at time seem to have a mild case of the Spacey G disease in that he’ll post things that really aren’t Georgia related and put a very lame justification at the end of the post. The union merger post is a good example. If you want to take away his posting privileges for those kinds of posts, go ahead but for the reasons you’ve stated, you’re coming off a being very thin skinned. Given how much you like to dish out the anger at those who are on the other end of the political spectrum from you, it makes you look hypocritical.
Peach Pundit is your blog but unless you want to turn it into LiveJournal and have only your immediate friends reading it, you can’t treat it like your personal property. Most of the value of Peach Pundit comes from the comments on the posts anyway. Peach Pundit is what it is because of postings of others, both as front page articles and comments.
If you were to never post here again, Peach Pundit would go on just fine. The only loss would be if you stopped paying the hosting bill. So while we all do owe you gratitude for setting up Peach Pundit and paying the bills, you need to understand that the essence of Peach Pundit is not you and thus you shouldn’t take offense when someone criticizes you anymore than any other poster or commenter does when they’re criticized.
I cannot tell you how amused I am at this recent development.
My front-page privileges were revoked for quoting the nation’s sixty-ninth most influential conservative both warmly and accurately.
Out of all of my recent front page posts like this one; this one or even this one, the post that got me kicked off was one that included a widely-attributed quote from this site’s illustrious founder?
Really? I mean, really?
That was it?
So I guess with this site’s token black guy shown the door, Peach Pundit has really become a place for balding, over-weight white men.
” and a slew of other incendiary rhetoric designed to whip the mostly white male crowd into an uncontrollable frenzy”
With an idiotic statement like above, Erick has an obligation to keep the website releveant and respectable. See ya Andre! Maybe you can blog over at blackplanet.com with the other hate-mongers.
I find it funny that your choice of words include “relevant and respectable” when a quick sampling of Erick’s most recent front page musings have done more to make this site irrelevant and less respectable than my opinions ever could.
After all, who would describe the following comment made by America’s sixty-ninth most influential conservative as respectable or relevant:
Hey Andre, if Erick’s musings have made the site irrelevant, why do people keep visiting the site? Why do more and more people listen to him and you don’t even post on your own blog because nobody cares to visit?
Just curious. Thx.
Donkey Kong,
I would venture to guess that one of the reasons why people continue to visit this site is because of the individuals who have made front page contributions to Peach Pundit.
With a former Georgia Democratic Party chairman and a former Georgia Libertarian Party chairman counted among those lending their writing talents to this blog, one can easily see why many frequent Peach Pundit as part of their daily political fix.
I’d suggest to you, Donkey Kong, that those who visit this site do so inspite of the fact that Erick Erickson’s “musings” consistently demonstrate how far outside of the mainstream he really is.
Andre,
1. It speaks well of Erick that he’s assembled a good group of fp posters.
2. He has a track record of building popular blogs – both PP and RS. And both have very different audiences and serve different purposes.
Integral to PP is having discriminate viewpoints. Equally integral are the rules and guidelines established to ensure these discriminate viewpoints are not turned off to the site over something like language.
Your admonition of Erick being outside of the mainstream betrays how little you actually understand both the conservative mainstream and the moderate American mainstream.
Why do more and more people listen to [Erick]
I thought this was a blog where Erick was “read?”
On another note, DK, how do YOU know how many people have:
1) Read Erick’s stuff in the past?
2) Read him now?
3) Increased their interest in “reading” his stuff?
Do you know the answers (documented) to any of these that would support your assertion that “more and more people” are reading Erick’s stuff?
Just curious…
Your point?
Hey, stop attacking Bill Simon like that!
(Making sure to use quotation marks here: “So I guess with this site’s token black guy shown the door, Peach Pundit has really become a place for balding, over-weight white men”)
Andre is black??
Kellie is a woman?
no, I just play one on here.
BTW – I really didn’t know he was black until he mentioned it. I only knew he was liberal.
Damnit Andre. You’ve gone too far!
I’m not balding.
it’s ridiculous that he took that step
Andre is black?!?!
Oh, reading further I noticed that I was not the only one who never paid attention that Andre was black. Just figured he was a liberal dude that looked like a member of the Imperial Royal Guard! Who knew!
I always thought his picture was of an Extremist until my son said it was someone off of Star Wars. I should really keep up with the boy movies; they’re referred to a lot on here.
The post where Erick said that Rev. Lowery and the nation’s first bi-racial President were preparing to go lynch random white people didn’t tip you off to Erickson’s idiotic racism?
Well, everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt at least once.
The race card, guys? Erick’s a dick, no doubt… and if you focus on the fact that Andre was banned for quoting Erick’s own publicly-posted words, then he looks like a dick. But once you pull this card out then everything else flies out the window… and it turns into a debate over whether Andre was treated less fairly than SpaceyG, which is an arguable question but less of a sure winner.
What do you mean race card. Erick made a post where he said our first bi-racial president and a dedicated civil rights leader were going to go riot after white people.
You in the “see no racism” camp are pretty much not seeing this at all.
There’s a difference between stirring the pot because you dream of being Rush or Hannity… vs. actually treating one left-wing poster differently from another based on race. If you lump the two together, then the more clear-cut and legit beef here gets completely lost in the shuffle.
Well there Steve I do agree with you. I don’t thikn he’s going after Andre for his race, even though Erick is definitely a racist p!@#$ (and anyone who doesnt’ think so probably knows jack s!@# about racism outside of what they read in their high school history books). I think he axed Andre because he’s a control freak.
“Erick’s a dick, no doubt”
If you actually believe that then you don’t know him. Strange how you could be a member of this site for so long and 1) not distinguish between political discourse / the battle of ideas and someone’s character, and 2) not know Erick better.
“Political discourse / the battle of ideas”? Err… riiiiiight. The overwhelming majority of Erick posts are:
(1) a cut-n-paste snippet from some article elsewhere
(2) a single word of “analysis” about the quote, such as “idiots”, “morons”, “nuts”, etc
(3) a title ranging from crude to occasionally homoerotic
Let’s not put on airs by calling it political discourse or a battle of ideas. The most thoughtful analysis Erick has cranked out here lately was incorrectly posting that his own candidate Handel lacks high school diploma, and then falsely accusing Brian Laurens of committing campaign fraud with no serious evidence.
I know that a lot of Erick’s tone and antics come from desire to be a Rush or Hannity someday, so he often has to play a role to put on that show. A lot of times people in private are different from what they pretend to be in public. However, we have to be careful because at the end of the day, we really ARE the person we pretend to be.
(3) a title ranging from crude to occasionally homoerotic
I am proud to say that _I_ taught him that!!!
Yet another strike against “home schooling”.
Good lord, Terran, go back on your meds. Your family needs you.
Shouldn’t you be off fighting against our center-right Goldman-Sachs-backed President who is apparently going to set up a communist dictatorship, bud?
Erick was raised in Macon where he was born a poor black child. How can he be a racist???
From the Democratic perspective, I am glad that Andre got banned from the front page. My only request is that you don’t offer a Democratic perspective if you are only going to replace him with another @ss clown like Andre. I have more respect for a website that admits that it is a Republican hack then one that pretends to be even halfway moderate.
From an intellectual perspective, I’m glad Andre got tossed. There was no continuity in his thought process, his writing was weak at best, and his systematic approach to government lacked, well, a system. I know a number of Democrats half his age who can better express the Democratic viewpoint.
Hmmm…. the sock-puppet-o-meter is going crazy.
I never agreed with Andre, but he was always an interesting read. The only thing left is for this line to be removed from the about section of the site:
“Peach Pundit brings you the latest in unfiltered, raw politics from the Peach State.”
Paging Bobby Kahn.
Say it loudly and proudly!
Here is your PSA for the evening
Now…I seem to recall the word was derived from Olde English from several centuries ago, not the F***ing Germans!
Farting Germans?
Andre did not get the nuclear option – total banning and the inability to post responses, he just lost front page privilege with the operative word being privilege. Those that don’t agree with Erick’s decision can start and cultivate their own BLOG and make their own rules or follow Andre back to Georgia Politics Unfiltered where can front-page all he wants. If you don’t like what Erick did, take your Peach Pundit ball and go home…ooops its Erick’s.
Perhaps a warning should have been in order. The balance of PP is going way to far right, and I think it makes it much less interesting.
Andre had posted a few posts in a row attacking conservatives and Erick. Interesting how he posted the FP posts while Erick was dealing with his RS gathering. It was kind of obvious, and I noticed the difference since the convention started. I do not blame Erick for this move. The articles that Andre quoted were inflamatory as well.
The articles that Andre quoted were inflamatory as well.
Pardon me…I’m Chair of the Committee To Benchmark the Degrees of What Constitutes Inflammatory Comments…and I was just wondering, Pine, would you place Andre’s post at a level of higher inflammation than Erick’s post last week calling Jimmy Carter “History’s Worst Monster”, the same level, or at a lower level of inflammatory rhetoric?
They were inflamatory. I did not read the post that you speak of. Jimmy Carter is bad. I can’t say that I disagree with that. I agree that it probably is as inflamatory as the BL post. That was a jump to judgement.
Let’s compare “monsters”:
Adolf Hitler
Joseph Stalin
Saddam Huissein
Pol Pot
How many people did Jimmy Carter beat, torture, gas, or exterminate as President?
Erick (like his fellow BJ pal, Sean Hannity) is responsible for helping to dumb-down the discourse in America…albeit only to the 500 or so people who might visit PP on a monthly basis.
BJ PAL? Inflamatory. Uncalled for. I would like to discuss the issues on a rational basis. So you are a Carter fan I gather. You must really love BHO. Although he is a little to the left of Carter.
No, Pine, I actually think Jimmy Carter is a flaming idiot…like most left-wingers.
But I choose not to dumb-down the discourse by describing him as “History’s Greatest Monster.” Because that zeroes-out any levels to make comparisons.
Bill Simon is raising the level of discourse by saying someone is a “BJ pal” or constantly referring to people as “chickensh*t” or saying someone doesn’t have balls.
That’s the Bill Simon we know.
Or wait, was that Bill Simon being a laugh a minute satirist? Because that’s the other Bill Simon we know. A constant stream of hilarity with his witty and insightful satire.
Rugby…honestly, pal, you don’t have the minimum IQ required to understand the dialogue. Blog for Democracy awaits you and your dirty diapers with open arms. Crawl on over there.
Excuse my spelling. Using a new browser. “Inflammatory”. I hate auto spell.
PP Balance is too far to the right, I spent the entire weekend listening to NPR while examining the 15 year voting/absence record of one of our gobernatorial candidnates in minute microscopic detail.
One must be Leonard Cohenesque in their approach to politics. After all “Hallelujah” has over 80 different verses……….most are lucky to have heard 10.
The phrase for the year is: Money is just stored energy, nothing more.
I’m a newbie from South GA and actually thought Andre’s posts were just sarcastic retorts to Erick’s seemingly racist post about “Lowery & Obama Sitting in a Tree.” Silly me.
A flaming idiot who has no sense left at all.
AP today : “JERUSALEM — Tickets for a Leonard Cohen concert to benefit Palestinian and Israeli peace groups sold out in less than a day, an Israeli ticket agent said Sunday.
The 47,000 tickets for the Sept. 24 concert at a stadium near Tel Aviv went on sale at 8:30 Saturday evening, and by Sunday afternoon they were all gone, ticket agent Avi Messing told Israel’s Channel 2 TV.
“All of Israel is coming to watch Leonard Cohen. It’s really great,” Messing said.
Prices ranged from $90 to $315.”…………………….mmmm $8 million.
Tolerance and all that! Shalom and
המעוניינים לך שלווה בחירות העונה
I’m sorry, but I’ve missed something here: has anyone mentioned that Erick’s reference about Jimmy Carter isn’t original, but is a joke from The Simpsons? I’m not a fan, but even I knew that. And Erick is probably a fan.
I pointed out that it was from the Simpsons. However it shoudl be noted he also called Carter an anti-semite, basically for holding the same positions on Israeli policy as half of America.
just an interesting little tidbit here most apparently don’t know about ‘anti-semitism’:
A Semitic person is not only Jew, but also many Arabs/Palestinians – and even some Iranians.
Therefore, whatever your position on the Near/Middle East is, you are almost always both pro-semite AND anti-semite.
and EVERYONE is included in that last…
OR… you’re pro-American, and believe we should follow the advice of our founding fathers and stay the heck out of everyone else’s business…
Completely agree that we need to stay the HADES out (at least militarily) of EVERY country that hasn’t directly attacked us.
Simply noting that WHENEVER you take a position re: Near/Middle East where you choose one side over the other, you are being both pro- and anti- Semite.
Therefore to classify you as JUST anti-Semite is misleading, at best.
And if the French had followed that advice and stayed the heck out of our business… we’d likely still be loyal English subjects.
We get by with a little help from our friends…..
I can’t say I’m surprised or outraged. I would prefer there to be more balance in terms of items that are posted, but I would hardly attribute Andre to that balance.
Some of his recent contributions have been severely lacking in logic, and were really grasping at straws – conversely he hit the mark sometimes. But the last one was a bit much, there is only so far one can go.
So, Erick, does this mean you finally have a twinge of regret for saying it? Or are you still proud of it?
Grift,
According to Dash Riptide, the odds of Erick coming back on here and posting a response to your question are approximately 10,000 to 1.
In short, don’t hold your breath.
HOWEVER…perhaps you should go on RedState and post this question at EVERY opportunity you get and link back to here. I’m curious to see if Erick will have the balls to let your comments remain on there.
Erick won’t have to do a thing. Grift will be banned by another admin, nearly instantaneously. If you don’t tow the line at RedState, one of those hacks will ban you, period.
I should know.
Well, Bill…now you have to admit that your initial forays into promoting the C4L agenda were a bit off the wall.
On RedState? LOL, you should see what actually got me banned… Erick himself had to re-instate me.
I never expect Erick to respond. A stand up fight is not his M.O.
FREE ANDRE!
I may not agree with Andre at times but he does stir it up!
Also I am very surprised Erick did this. I met Erick for the first time at a happy hour and fund not very confrontational and fairly easy going. He made some very thoughtful comments without at all being obnoxious. And he was very open to people from all sides at the happy hour.
Erick on the blog is this Rush Limbaugh style flame throwing takes no prisoners as long as he drives attention toward himself. That is why I am very disappointed He would do this to Andre!
I find blogs fascinating, and this episode is one reason why.
The folks that read this forum regularly, I’ve heard range from 500 or less in number, may consider a member’s privileges being revoked a noteworthy event. Most everyone else in the World have no care, concern or knowledge of the epic nature of the said banning.
“Thous takest thyselves way too seriously.’
“Thous takest thyselves way too seriously.’
Describes Erick completely.

Like it or not the readership of this blog is very high. I am shocked as to how many people comment to me or send me e-mails about what I post on this blog. I would guess the readership is over 30000 or more unique visitors a month. Also many with a large reach also read this blog.
I have my disagreements with Erick but he did create a very visible blog about Georgia politics anyway you slice it. I do think it should be more policy driven and less personal attacks but hey you cannot argue it is working.
Alexa don’t seem to rate viewership very high here: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/peachpundit.com
I would guess the readership is over 30000 or more unique visitors a month
HAHAHA!
Clayton…care to give us a 3-month snapshot of the graph of unique URL visitors to Peach Pundit?
PeachPundit is important or I would not comment here. I sincerely hope the words we ALL write are read by our lawmakers, GOP or DEM.
If 500 people read PP, and they are all lawmakers/influencers that is meaningful. I do know many GA lawmakers read these words.
My irrevelerent post addressed my perception of the high drama surrounding the banishments front page posters. As I said to Erick when Ms. Grayson became poster non grata, “It’s your World boss.”
“I would never join any club that would have me as a member.’ W.C. Fields
“I would never join any club that would have me as a member.’ W.C. Fields
Groucho Marx didn’t say this before W.C.?
Hm, methinks this could be handled better, perhaps by bleeping the post and then telling Andre that you had done it and why – and in giving him a warning before banning him from the front page?
Who remembers the Free Bull Moose campaign? Looks like it’s time to Free Andre!
Hasn’t Andre been kicked off the front page before?
maybe if kahn posted more often it would be less noticeable–andre doesn’t usally come off as a flaming lefty, but he does have his moments, but he is a democrat and does know some people on that side which can make for interesting posts if nothing else–it’s a shame comments are closed on his posts b/c he posted something about the delta/nw union talks and i was on a delta flight sunday on which one of the flight attendants was wearing a “union, just say no” button on her lapel and i had a chance to talk to her or a little bit…
