I think it’s a little fishy, that a successful businessman, who is president of a company in an industry directly regulated by the Ox, who doesn’t even live in the state, would make contributions equal to 10% of the Ox’s entire campaign account and want to remain completely anonymous about it. Because that’s what happens in politics, businessmen who make contributions, especially $120,000 contributions, don’t want to have any extra access or influence so they make them anonymously.

But if you want to go on acting like a rube, or at least thinking everyone else is a rube, then go right ahead.

When you raise $1.2 million, 2 dozens checks out of about 500+ individual contributions all entered by someone who is doing a thousand other things in addition to entering checks into the computer and received over several months makes it easy to overlook a detail like that. Depending on the software you are using, most only flag names when you exceed your contribution limit, not similar addresses.

I’m not sure what campaign contribution software Oxendine uses, Aristotle, politically-e, or something else, but my experience using those two systems over 3 campaigns that raised over $1 each I know the software does not necessarily flag addresses, only names.

You can also run into a problem if you create a slightly difference account with a simple misspelling. Let’s say you first create an account called” T-Shirt PAC.” For the next check you accidentially create an account “TShirt Political Action Committee.” You wouldn’t get a flag on it.

But go ahead and believe what you want to. I’ve shown you the facts and Republicans are supposed to be the logical ones who can better shift out the evidence for themselves.

Once it was brought to Oxendine’s attention, he returned the money. He didn’t wait to see if it was kosher of not, he just simply returned it. Yeah he attacked the AJC. That was probably not the best response, but he didn’t wait 2 weeks attacking the “liberal media” and finally gave up and returned the money, he did it the next day there was mail service.

But if despite the evidence, you “feel” there is still something fishy, go ahead and base your political decisions on your emotions. Thinking like that will put you one step closer to becoming a proud member of the Democratic Party.

Knowing what happened to Cox’s campaign manager over a similar incident, I’d be very worried if I was a government employee in Sloppy Floyd changing wikipedia entries.

Oh come now, I could see how the fact that one man is responsible for 10% of the Ox’s contributions, but it was overlooked due to all those confusing PO box numbers. Obviously, this man from Alabama has a secret “paperback romance novel” passion for Oxendine and wanted to keep it a secret.

Roy’s very smart, but too old and too much baggage for what we need.

I used to think Handel had the right stuff, but not lately. She’s turned into a “pander bear”.

Ox is more of the same.

The campaign must be doing exceptionally well not to notice 10 $12,000 checks from 10 Alabama political action committees gave to Oxendine in 2008 when all of the PACs listed Donald V. Watkins Jr. as chairman.

Anyone who looks at the contributions disclosure and does not notice how the so called “smaller check” PAC contributions jump out and far exceed all other contributions is naive or in denial.

I challenge you all to check for themselves what John Weimann Oxendine’s Campaign reported:

Am I the only one who finds humor in all of this?

When I saw my fake name on WSB yesterday clear as day I laughed out loud. It’s all very Theatre of the Absurd.

The folks who probably aren’t laughing are the state’s IT folks. They can probably expect a gold rush of Open Records requests in the near future that aren’t even directly related to this story.
