Good News, Cynthia McKinney is “all right.”

The Israelis have shown tremendous restraint by not subjecting the cute little communist to enhanced interrogation:

The father of detained former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney said he spoke briefly with her on Thursday.

McKinney and 20 other passengers were on a ship bringing supplies to Gaza in defiance of an Israeli blockade when it was intercepted Tuesday. They are presently in Israeli custody.

“I just got off the phone with her an hour ago,” Billy McKinney of Atlanta said. “We didn’t have a conversation. She just said she was all right, and that was about it.”

The former Georgia legislator and political figure admitted he was worried despite her assurances.

“I’m always worried about her,” he said. “I’m a father. I’m a parent. I’m always worried.”

Clearly “All Right” refers to her physical state not her emotional state.

fishtail July 2, 2009 at 6:05 pm

She would make great crab bait.

Andisheh Nouraee July 2, 2009 at 6:39 pm

Hilarious! Let’s torture and kill her and throw her body in the sea!

I love that conservative “culture of life.”

Buzz Brockway July 2, 2009 at 10:21 pm

And I love how the left has no sense of humor.

Kellie July 2, 2009 at 6:40 pm

How many times has she been over there? or has she just remained there?
We have always stood with Israel, it is time for them to do us a favor and keep her. ;-)

Andisheh Nouraee July 2, 2009 at 6:50 pm

Joking about rape or teen promiscuity is not funny.

Joking about the torture and murder of a former member of Congress is a hoot!

Buzz Brockway July 2, 2009 at 10:22 pm

My David Letterman non-apology apology will come in a few days.

Buzz Brockway July 2, 2009 at 10:29 pm

BTW, how do you know I meant we should torture then murder her? I could have been referring to the many other enhanced interrogation methods Obama has banned like putting caterpillars in her room or turning the AC off.

macho July 3, 2009 at 9:59 am

If only she had been arrested in Turkey.

Flyswatter July 2, 2009 at 7:16 pm

You right-wingers horrify me. Have you no decency?

Icarus July 2, 2009 at 10:13 pm

Not anymore. That beast of an ex wife got it in the divorce.

Dash Riptide July 2, 2009 at 10:15 pm

I just want to know when it became fishtail’s turn to speak on behalf of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

Kellie July 3, 2009 at 4:59 am

Icky has an Ex?

Bill Simon July 4, 2009 at 10:17 pm

When you left-wingers, who proclaim you are on the side of “decent America” and yet resort to defending and encouraging groups like NAMBLA to proliferate, START demonstrating a model of us to follow, perhaps we’ll show some “decency.”

100+ days of absolute garbage from Pelosi and Obama have eradicated any sense of “decency” there ever was in us.

nickspm July 2, 2009 at 10:08 pm

Well done, Cynthia! The Free Gaza Movement is important. Those poor people have gone through enough already without being deprived of food and medical supplies by Israel, especially after the horrific massacre of their people.

John Konop July 3, 2009 at 6:15 am

FYI

If you cannot do the time do not do the crime!

GG July 3, 2009 at 6:54 am

Maybe we could pay the Israelis to keep her.

Andisheh Nouraee July 3, 2009 at 6:31 am

Why won’t you just come out and say what you actually think: you’re fine making vulgar jokes about McKinney because you don’t like her. She’s not a person to you. She’s a caricature; merely a “cute” and “little” Communist. Who cares what happens to her, right?

And you’re upset about Letterman because you like Palin. She’s an awesome human and people who joke about her or her family are elitist, sexist, vulgarians. Palin-Jindal ’12!

I support vulgarity. I’m a huge fan of vulgarity, actually. But I don’t publicly admonish people for being offensive, then three weeks later make the same type of joke myself.

Buzz Brockway July 3, 2009 at 8:25 am

Alright, I confess: I’m a conservative who loves to torture and murder former members of Congress.

Really Andi, you’ve gone off the deep end on this one.

Bill Simon July 4, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Andi lives on the freaking deep end. Must be the camel meat he consumes. :-)

(Offended reaction from John Konop for my accusation that Andi is a rider of camels who consumes camel meat at regular intervals, and this being a clear indication I might be a racist against people of Middle-Eastern descent, coming in 5…4…3…2….1….seconds)

There is a vast difference between a gang rape joke about a fourteen year old girl and a former congresswoman who traveled across the Mediteranean with the purpose of provoking an incident. Ms McKinney asked for what she got and no, there is not much sympathy for her.
Moreover as a congresswoman from Georgia she consistently embarrassed her friends and outraged the rest of us with antics that would have embarrassed a fourteen year old girl.
She left because she wore out her welcome even among people who had been her supporters.
Equating Ms McKinney’s self-sought detention and the gang rape of Sarah Palin’s daughter is the mark of a superficial and second rate mind.
Enjoy your vulgarity. We are not amazed.

Dash Riptide July 3, 2009 at 7:16 am

Gang rape? It’s bad enough to twist it into a “rape joke” based on suppositions and legalisms, but come on.

B Balz July 3, 2009 at 7:20 am

Fine words, Bryce! Although I disagree with your adverse characterization of a second rate mind, I’ve enjoyed mine tremendously.

Through her own actions, Ms. McKinney marginalizes herself. “She doth know herself slenderly”

As to the folks in Gaza, they are luckless pawns in the deadliest of chess games. Truly tragic, most here have no idea of how awful their plight is. And yet, I think of Vonneguts’ quote, “There are NO innocent bystanders.”

Ms. McKinneys’ actions are neither communistic nor have a wit to do with Lettermans’ tasteless humor- McKinneys actions are characteristically self-serving. (There is no such thing as bad press.)

Andisheh Nouraee July 3, 2009 at 12:25 pm

Buzz, I never said you condone torture. Nor am I offended by the joke. I said you’re a hypocrite.

When people make vile jokes about Republicans, you were outraged (see link to your blog).

But similar jokes about McKinney don’t seem to be a problem for you.

Why is that? I’m guessing it’s because you like Palin and dislike McKinney.

(Not that it matters, but I strongly dislike McKinney. I’m not defending her.)

rugby July 3, 2009 at 12:51 pm

Nice attack on The Ox Anidsheh.

Icarus July 3, 2009 at 9:42 pm

It was bad enough when the Lib’ral AJC was attacking the Ox.

But Conservative Creative Loafing?

This media cabal will be the end of Ox.

rugby July 4, 2009 at 11:36 am

Oh so now you’re a doubter as well? Sad really, I thought you were better than that.

The Ox CAN NOT be stopped.

tocallaghan July 7, 2009 at 11:03 am

There is huge difference here Adisheh. McKinney deserves to be ridiculed. If she had really wanted to donate supplies she could of taken them over land or sent a check to the Israeli government, since they have taken upon themselves to rebuild and resupply Gaza. Willow Palin never did anything wrong, and she is a child. Buzz is not a hypocrite. You are.

Game Fan July 7, 2009 at 10:48 am

I like CM and agree and disagree on different issues. Of course this doesn’t mean I’m a “leftie”.

BUT SHE’S GOT BIG BALLS!!
