Larry Walker has left the DOT Board. Rumor is he is up for a Board of Regents appointment, but that is just the rumor.

No word on who will be up for his seat. A number of people in the Bibb-Twiggs-Houston area are looking at former Representative Allen Freeman. He’s not the only one though. Calder Clay is said to be interested, as is Mac Collins who is allegedly still running for Congress.

We do not need another person on the board of regents unwilling to reform and reign in the universities. Larry Walker will just be another rubber stamp to what the education bureaucrats want. Unfortunately than means out of control spending, funding of feel good but unproductive departments like the Feminist studies Department at UGA, and higher tuitions. We need a reformer willing to shake things up a little. Maybe even a social conservative. One social conservative on the board will not destroy it for the liberals, but it will bring a little more balance.

If you never end your race for congress, aren’t you still running?

Larry just wants to go party with his buddy Don Leeburn in Athens. He just got a good physical and his heart is fine and the doc gave him a Viagra prescription.
