I reckon I should load-up the wagon and start-up the mule. By the time Monday rolls around, I should be in Dacula.

Daniel N. Adams May 21, 2009 at 9:00 pm

Seems like there’s a candidate missing in the lineup.

Dash Riptide May 21, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Seems like there’s a candidate missing in the lineup.

I’m not running. Seriously, let it go.

Daniel N. Adams May 21, 2009 at 9:09 pm

Only the Lindsey Gram R’s are invited. The GA GOP continues to be the Party of Exclusion… Nationally that didn’t work out so well.

Chris May 21, 2009 at 9:25 pm

If Ray McBerry wishes to attend he can contact Chuck Efstration.

Daniel N. Adams May 21, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Chris,

Is that what the other candidates had to do?
Is Ray’s campaign that hard to get in contact with… I think even I might have a card of his manager.

jenny May 21, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I already confirmed Ray’s presence at the event. He’ll be there. Whether or not Chris wants to list him is another matter. :-)

jenny May 21, 2009 at 9:48 pm

And he was confirmed awhile ago.

Bill Simon May 21, 2009 at 10:07 pm

And…there’s likely a “…BI*CH!” at the end of Jenny’s comment at 9:48 PM, Chris. :-)

Red Phillips May 21, 2009 at 10:49 pm

I’m starting to like this Daniel Adams guy.

Red Phillips May 21, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I think Ray’s presence would liven up Erick’s Red State gathering as well.

LoyaltyIsMyHonor May 21, 2009 at 11:15 pm

Wow, so exciting and thrilling….Thanks for the heads-up…I will avoid Gwinnett on Monday…I may even venture into DeKalb ;)

Kellie May 22, 2009 at 5:41 am

We will be at the Mason’s Lodge helping out if any of you would like to meet me. LOL

North Ga Indy May 22, 2009 at 6:02 am

I think Oxendine’s presence would liven up Erick’s Red State gathering.

jenny May 22, 2009 at 6:47 am

Bill-

Nah. If Chris wants to shut Ray out of his little post, it’s just typical. I enjoy Ray being underestimated. And if I were going to call Chris a name, “illegitimate child” would probably be my term of choice. :-)

I was so naive as to think Chris would correct his post when he realized it was bad reporting/journalism. But then maybe he isn’t going for accuracy.

Reagan Conservative 1980 May 22, 2009 at 7:02 am

Maybe Chris only mentioned candidates that actually have a prayer at winning… Face the fact, Ray chances of winning the primary lie somewhere between slim and none..

Chris May 22, 2009 at 7:09 am

Jenny – what made you think I was awake when you posted your message? Now that I am awake, I’ve fixed it.

And I am a Rodent-Illegitmate-child thank you very much.

macho May 22, 2009 at 7:25 am

I don’t agree with Ray all the time, but agree with him more than Lindsey Graham. We talk about the Republican party, the need to expand our tent, etc, well the Party needs the Ray McBerry’s of the world just as badly as it needs the moderates.

Romegaguy May 22, 2009 at 7:48 am

If Chris was only listing candidates with a legitimate chance of getting elected why did he mention Johnson or Scott?

Buzz Brockway May 22, 2009 at 8:02 am

The Ray McBerry tidal wave will sweep people like Chris and the other doubters away, or at least back across the Mason-Dixon line where they belong.

Dang Yankees.

North Ga Indy May 22, 2009 at 8:23 am

If Chris was only listing candidates with a legitimate chance of getting elected why did he mention Johnson or Scott?

Joe Frank Harris was a little known State Legislator when he defeated bigger name opponents in the Democratic Primary back in 1982. Austin Scott and Johnson are State Legislators too. I’ll give you time to consider that.

Chris May 22, 2009 at 8:24 am

Don’t make me go back to NY to raise an army to smack ya’ll down again. Although I’ve often said a repeat of Sherman burning Atlanta to the ground would do wonders for fixing the traffic. :)

Kellie May 22, 2009 at 8:25 am

I actually helped on Joe Frank’s campaign. I was 12 at the time so all I could do was stuff envelopes. ;-)

Red Phillips May 22, 2009 at 8:32 am

I think Joe Frank Harris was probably more conservative than Sonny. Plus you’ve got to love anyone with a double first name.

wahardage May 22, 2009 at 8:36 am

The event will have several of the state wide candidates there, nit just the gubenatorial candidates. We have to remember there are other races going on.

Red Phillips May 22, 2009 at 9:02 am

Since you didn’t put a title in front of Ray, may I suggest Productive Businessman Ray McBerry. Or maybe Not a Politician or a Lawyer Ray McBerry. :-)

Dash Riptide May 22, 2009 at 9:12 am

That’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people can’t get accepted to law school.

Technocrat May 22, 2009 at 11:58 am

Yes less than 145,000 are currently attending law schools in US and only 1,160,000 licensed in total. Minority enrollment is now at 20.6% and male-female ratios are 50/50.
Approximately 9% of lawyers work for the government, 3% are judges
So far this year ~ 20 GA lawyers have been disbarred/serious disciplined:
http://www.gabar.org/ethics/recent_discipline/

Of Georgia’s 5 law schools > 90% [90-94%] pass bar on 1st try

Lots of people can’t get accepted to law school.

Bill Simon May 22, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Lots of people can’t get accepted to law school.

Lots more people don’t WANT to become a member of the world’s 2nd oldest profession….on 2nd thought, maybe the 1st and the 2nd oldest are really the same profession…just a different uniform.

jenny May 22, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Ray not having a title emphasizes the fact that he isn’t a career politician.

Thank you, Chris, for waking up and fixing that.

What I hope all tyrannical weasels think when my feet hit the floor in the morning: “Dam*it, she’s up.” :-)

Oh, and I discovered a new term someone in politics shared with me this week when I asked his opinion on something. Instead of answering the question, he responded: “No thanks. I have no interest in being Just Jenny’d.”

I’m going to need an ego punch soon. Being a campaign manager, no doubt one is just around the corner.

Bill Simon May 22, 2009 at 12:58 pm

Instead of answering the question, he responded: “No thanks. I have no interest in being Just Jenny’d.”

You’re famous now! You may be the most famous bi-ped animal out there! ;-)

Dash Riptide May 22, 2009 at 1:07 pm

Some chains just beg for yanking.

jenny May 22, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Chris,

Weren’t you listing the candidates alphabetically?

Not that I want to complain now that you have added Ray….

Kellie May 22, 2009 at 5:49 pm

With all these politicians in one small area who will be there with the video for when the fights break out? LOL

Jason Shepherd May 22, 2009 at 8:52 pm

With cell phones, almost everyone has a video camera!

Red Phillips May 22, 2009 at 10:45 pm

“That’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people can’t get accepted to law school.”

Dash, you know what they say about those who go to law school don’t you? They couldn’t get into med school. :-)

I thought that was veterinarians and dentists.

Law school is for literate folk who are otherwise devoid of natural talents.

“You enter here with skull-fulls of mush!…And then, if you survive, you come out thinking like a lawyer!”

Bill Simon May 24, 2009 at 10:04 am

Correction (as one who currently has a skull full of mush from drinking too much wine last night):

“You enter here with skulls full of mush!…And then, if you survive, you come out thinking like a lawyer!

Alright, NOW…who said the above? Anyone? Anyone know?

Chris May 24, 2009 at 10:38 am

The Prof in One-L?

Chris May 24, 2009 at 10:39 am

Err, the Paper Chase was the movie.

Dash Riptide May 24, 2009 at 10:45 am

A better line: “You’re all a disappointment to somebody.”
