My only suggest is for the voters of Macon to vote for rational adults over immature grand standing office holders with no agenda other than self promotion.

You stay classy Erick Erickson.

Sigh… more of this garbage? Maybe you should spend time writing legislation to reduce the size and power of the city council since you all obviously have too much time and too little real work to do.

And yes, I do think the original legislation is dumb. The President is unlikely to care the slightest bit that he is being made an honorary member of the Macon City Council. Chances are that he would never ever even know such an honorary was bestowed upon him. And even if he did know and care, these types of honors should be reserved for those who perform some duty or action that specifically helps the community bestowing the honor. Someone who volunteers in the local hospital for thirty years or saves a local child from drowning in the river would be good candidate for such an honor but the President of the country, regardless of party affiliation or quality of governance is not in my opinion someone the city council should spend time bestowing titles on.

If you don’t like the legislation, simply vote against it and bring it up to the voters later as an example of what your fellow council members waste their time on instead of acting like a five year old having a temper tantrum.

Whereas I get a laugh, followed by a good cry, at this waste of taxpayer money…

billybob7469 May 3, 2009 at 10:46 pm

This is ridiculous. You are doing nothing more than stooping to Elaine’s level with this garbage. Hannity sure will be proud of you, Erick!

Maurice Atkinson May 3, 2009 at 11:14 pm

Erick chairs the committee this is being assigned to. He has no other choice than to allow the committee to move on it. Given that there are only 2 Republicans on Macon City Council, it’s going to come out of committee.

Frankly, I think it is brilliant to point out the absurdity of the resolution by making it absurd.

Heck, I would encourage the councilman to make the resolution as long as he could. Multiple pages crammed full of the socialist lines we’re seeing daily coming from this administration. Throw in a few kudos for bowing to the crown prince and hugging Chavez.

Do it Erick!

Do you want to be a statesmen like Jack Kemp or a Rush style muckraker pimping off the system promoting hate for money over what is best for the country?

Jack Kemp, quarterback turned politician, dies

The GOP could use more like Jack Kemp! Agree or disagree Jack Kemp had the ability to bring people together promoting color blind solutions. Thank you Jack may you rest in peace.

TH-….”Jack Kemp’s commitment to public service and his passion for politics influenced not only the direction of his party, but his country,” President Barack Obama said in a statement issued Sunday. Obama praised Kemp as “a man who could fiercely advocate his own beliefs and principles while also remembering the lessons he learned years earlier on the football field: that bitter divisiveness between race and class and station only stood in the way of the ‘common aim of a team to win.’”

Former President George W. Bush said Kemp “will be remembered for his significant contributions to the Reagan revolution and his steadfast dedication to conservative principles during his long and distinguished career in public service.”

“Jack was an eternal optimist who was always searching for solutions that would help the American people,” Dole said. “Jack and I really got to know one another in the 1996 presidential race. We lost, but Jack’s enthusiasm and his willingness to reach out to Americans everywhere made the race an exciting one.”

Former first lady Nancy Reagan said Kemp served his country with great distinction and called him “one of the strongest Reagan ‘cheerleaders’ weve ever had, spreading the message of prosperity through freedom and tax reductions.”

Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., called Kemp “a statesman who, especially in his later years, tried to reach across the aisle to solve some of our nation’s problems. He was deeply missed.”….

If it was up to me, all governments would “waste their time” on such things, as opposed to wasting my money passing legislation.

WHEREAS, after entering elected office, the members of the Macon City Council felt no shame sitting alongside Erick Erickson, who unashamedly, and repeatedly, referred to Supreme Court Justice David Souter as “the only goat f*cking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court.”

Decaturguy May 4, 2009 at 11:34 am

Boy, how Erick has become such a rabid nutjob.

Andisheh Nouraee May 4, 2009 at 12:45 pm

This is insane, Erick.

Nick May 4, 2009 at 12:53 pm

The Souter comments are precisely why the Republican Party is in the state it is in now.

Wow. Did you really say that, Erick? I mean, I can’t trust Twitter, ever since Keith Olbermann proved it was a right-wing conspiracy against him.

Those Tweeter posts are ridiculous. As rugby says, “stay classy Erick.”

For someone who claims to be as devout as you, Erick, that was very un-Christian like.

tocallaghan May 4, 2009 at 4:36 pm

People get way to worked up about Erick’s little joke.

Loren May 4, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Joke?

You say that, but I do not think that word means what you (or Erick) think it means.

John Konop May 4, 2009 at 8:17 pm

tocallaghan

How is that a joke?

Amazing, Rugby. You have no concern for Lucas’s waste-of-time bill, but you go after Erick.

Not only are you a fool, but you are a damn fool. However…you knew that already, didn’t you?

rugby May 5, 2009 at 10:40 am

“Amazing, Rugby. You have no concern for Lucas’s waste-of-time bill, but you go after Erick.”

No I do, but as opposed to Erick, Lucas isn’t going high and mighty and trying to act like she’s doing some noble, grand act, saving the City of Macon from some grave sin.

Also, he’s being a gaping a**hole about it too.

Doug Deal May 5, 2009 at 12:20 pm

rugby,

Only she is. That nutcase is on television news proclaiming that despite the rest of council she will see this bill passed at all costs. She suffers from a serious case of whatever ails Cynthia McKinney, paranoid crazy eyes and all.

That being said, I concur with Chris, it’s not something to pat oneself on the back about, it’s something to move on from and forget.
