I started researching and ended up spending the afternoon reading. This is great stuff. Much better than the lady from Maryland or the others can even think to claim as understanding the state from any viable historical perspective.

Now that you mention it, Oxendine looks kind of like an Indian. I would have thought more Cherokee or Creek than Lumbee.

I should have been clearer about the minority connection and what minorities sense and see in Oxendine. Why they are more comfortable and trust him more.

“Oxendine is a Lumbee-associated name. Senior Gwinnett County Judge James W. Oxendine, father of Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, confirms the family’s Lumbee ancestry. A graduate of Vanderbilt Law School, the elder Oxendine says he’s the first person of Indian descent to practice law in Georgia. Born in Roberson County, N.C., the Lumbee center today, he served three Georgia governors and helped root out Georgia laws that were, as he says, “blatantly unconstitutional,” including the one that prohibited Native people from owning land. Such laws had been on the books since at least 1828, and weren’t scrapped until 1980.”

I don’t know when the OX was recorded dishing about his conquests. If he was single, then probably okay. Unlike the uncomfortable aftermath we had with Burkhalter and Matt Towery and Skin Edge after they got caught with the hookers at Daufauskie Island 10 years ago. Both Towery and Edge came close to divorce and they each did not run for reelection.

Was that during his 5 single years between wives when he sowed the usual madatory wild oats , had blue light and car problems with Roy Barnes? Old news.
I bet he’s been squeeky clean and somewhat born again since his remarriage.
Obviously it still works with “little OX” on the way.

Have you ever wonder why his negatives among Black are so very very low?
In their mind many are torn vs voting Democrat for a Southern White like Barnes.
You don’t get 65.6% [2006] of the state vote nor 54% in Fulton [where Sonny got 45%] without some pejorative connotations.

Latest lobbyist gossip that I can confirm. The GOP primary race is getting nasty early. Someone is circulating an audio tape of the OX talking about how many women he’s had and what a great lover he is, etc. Don’t know who, but it’s definitely out there. This sort of thing didn’t seem to hurt Clinton, so maybe it will have a boomerang effect and showcase the virile masculinity of the studly OX.

WSB TV reports he will not run for Governor, but will stay as Speaker Pro Tem.

Westmoreland pulls all the oxygen out of the race for those that want to support a “House” candidate. He also pulls those who don’t wish to support a candidate that lives north of I-20. He’ll dig deep into the So-Con support of Ox. Very deep.

Austin Scott needs to be taking a long look at CD-8.

And I think Keen already called a press conference after Casey’s announcement to say he wasn’t interested. Unless he’s reconsidering his disinterest. Again.

All eyes are on Lynn’s decision. If he enters the race, there is not only not room for additional candidates, but I would look for Austin Scott to be considering his options, as well.
