The Fulton County Republican Party has issued a press release calling for announced Lt. Governor candidates Eric Johnson and David Shafer to remain in the race, despite incumbent Casey Cagle’s decision to give up his bid for Governor and instead run for reelection. The party is looking for a “more substantive discussion of the issues and better solutions to the challenges facing our state.”

Republicans in Fulton County look forward to a race where candidates are forced to state their credentials, present their ideas, and leave the decision-making power with the people of Georgia, holding every elected official to account.”

By remaining in the race Shafer and Johnson will be doing a great
service to the party and ultimately the state. Shafer and Johnson have already demonstrated leadership in the State Senate, both passing significant legislation in regards to “Zero-based budgeting” and
vouchers, respectively. Since Cagle decided to join the race, Georgia’s transportation crisis will come to the forefront.

This press release is as remarkable for what it doesn’t say as it is for what it does. But it is clear. The Fulton County Republican Party is calling for challengers to incumbent Casey Cagle.

I’d be more impressed with a call for challengers to incumbent Johnny.

Cagle would eat Johnson’s lunch. Shafer – I don’t know so much. David Shafer is one bright guy and has that metro pull going for him! Sure will be interesting.

I plan on having our county party pass such a resolution as well. Shafer will clean house.

Casey Cagle will not be on the ballot.

David Shafer has shown a tremendous amount of class in this situation.

Cagle will be in the race and will be re-elected,end of story.

I will continue to back the horse I started with as long as he remains in the race.

I have kept Johnson and Shafer on the ballot for the 11th District Straw poll to see how Cagle being in that race effects their level of support.

Results will be posted on http://www.gagop11.org later Saturday night.

This coming from the clown who 2 weeks ago declared that Olens was going to enter the Governor’s race.

No, correction: Georgia Judge declared Olens was going to enter the Lt. Governor’s race.

Had to go back and find the comment. He’s still a clown.

I found it interesting that the results of the 10 Dist Lt. Gov. straw poll had Casey Cagle with 43%, a sitting Lt. Gov. only gets 43% of the vote on the question of his re-election.
