The verdict is in, ladies and gentlemen, and even the hometown newspaper of our illustrious Lieutenant Governor agrees; the forty days our 236 state representatives and state senators spent under the Gold Dome were a complete waste of time [Source: Gainesville Times, Our Views: Another 40-day feud, wasted time, April 5, 2009].

Why is everyone so upset?

Without their Religious Right&rade; social issue du jour to drive the frenzied to the polls: ‘gay marriage amendment’ etc…, the GOP in GA has been a do-nothing-unless-told lot since 2000.

Look at every piece of legislation that was passed, failed or even considered this session. There is your power check.

Team Status Quo™ quivered at Obamaquake™. In a panic, they circled the wagons and allowed no harm to come to The System Formerly Known As Representative Government in Georgia™. No Bold Plans™ were offered, for fear a momentum of progress may not be stopped.

Inertia is the friend of The System™. I doubt the score would have changed with the D’s in the box, either.

Quite amusing, actually. Watching all of your squirm now at the things that beget my squirmy years ago. At least My Lege™ didn’t break anything this time.

@Bill Simon, perhaps there will be enough investigations against the lobbyists that they will just fold up shop and go away. I’m working on pushing for an investigation of the Georgia politicians, their earmarks to their top donors and their lobbyist buddies.

But…the lobbyists weren’t elected, so its kinda difficult to “vote them out of office”…

Was it kind of like the petty arguments and exchange of emails with name-calling tactics that the Macon counsel members are involved in? I read your post about that and wondered how anything gets done in Macon.

It actually sounded like grade school students playing politics.
