Does the Ox know how foolish he looks?

panderbearChris wrote about this yesterday. It’s worth pointing out some added info from the AJC.

First we have this:

State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine this morning announced his opposition to another attempt in the state Legislature to permit Sunday sales of beer and wine.

“Republicans are supposed to be the party of family values. Where is the value in selling alcohol on the Lord’s Day?” asked the 2010 candidate for governor.

Then we have this:

Last year, this same issue was tied to a Gwinnett County effort to permit the new minor league Braves stadium to sell beer and such on the Christian Sabbath. The pairing presented an uncomfortable ethical dilemma for many Republican lawmakers, torn between business interests and conservative Christians. What most people don’t know is that the same Gwinnett County bill is back again, reportedly for housekeeping issues. Oxendine is from Gwinnett County. It’s his geographic political base.

What is his position on H.B. 104?

Said Oxendine:

“I strongly support the ability to sell alcoholic beverages at the Gwinnett Braves stadium.”

After this week we are going to need Sunday sales.

Oxendine an attraction to babes? Yuck. I’m not a babe, but I am a female, and I’m hear to tell you brothers that he ain’t all that and a bag of chips. I’d prefer the bag of chips.

When he grabs the mic and starts speaking, it makes me chuckle. Sounds like he just inhaled half a helium balloon.

But I’m glad he’s in the race. He makes Ray McBerry look so very electable.

Nindy is just working through some things right now. If Ox reminds Nindy of the sensation he got whilst climbing the rope in gym class, then let’s just leave it at that.

Ox has Schwarzenegger muscles and can sing like the lead singer of Foghat. Doesn’t this sound like Ox:

Plus, Ox is better looking than Patrick Swayze could ever dream of. He makes Swayze look like Ed McMahon.

jenny February 7, 2009 at 4:49 pm

My favorite Swayze moment was when he did that strip tease skit with Matt Foley. That skit is THE GREATEST moment in Saturday Night Live. Course, Foley was the real star of the show.

Somehow I just can’t see it with Oxendine. I picture him more in the “My Little Buttercup” scene from the Three Amigos.

jenny February 7, 2009 at 4:50 pm

When the bartender goes “My little butter cup” in that really high voice…..

North Ga Indy February 7, 2009 at 4:59 pm

My favorite Swayze moment was when he did that strip tease skit with Matt Foley.

Now imagine Ox doing a strip tease skit and singing Aqualung at the same time. That would be SO COOL!!!

jenny February 7, 2009 at 5:03 pm

I just started a new diet. I’m going to keep that visual in mind for when I am tempted to eat something….

North Ga Indy February 7, 2009 at 5:07 pm

OK, and also try to visualize Ox on the Hover of Hustler Magazine wearing only swimming trunks. I’m as straight as they get, and I think that that would be so hot.

jenny February 7, 2009 at 5:12 pm

North Ga. Indy,

You use Apartame, don’t you? Drinking milk with rBGH? Getting the extra fluoride treatments at the dentist’s office? Do you get the flu shot?

Better start with a complete intestinal cleanse, colon therapy, a Daniel Fast, and some EmergenC (I would recommend two packets a day).

Better still…come over. I’ve got my black cauldron fired up in the backyard, and some fresh bat livers. I’ll stir you up a concoction that’ll get you better in no time.

Icarus February 7, 2009 at 6:32 pm

I’ve got to change my meds.

I’m pretty sure I just read that Jenny gave Magic Jeff an invite to her house so she could cleanse his colon with fresh bat livers (using stale bat livers apparently doesn’t provide the desired effect, I guess.).

Harry February 7, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Two Americans are walking down the road, one asks, “Have we really achieved change?” The other replies, “No things are still going to get a lot worse.”

Bill Simon February 7, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Jenny,

What about Splenda? Is that okay? You know…except for that intertaction with a chlorine molecule for a brief moment of time-thing….

Bill Simon February 7, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Harry,

Here’s the thing, and MAYBE you’ll get it: Republicans are not in charge in D.C., and have very little influence.

So, while it might be fun for you to whine and find many more sympathetic people to bitch and moan with about the Non-Stimulus Package, we really cannot do one freaking thing about it.

BUT…when it comes to our local government, where we do have Republicans in place who “claim” to be for liberty and freedom, yeah. we would rather focus on that which we should change, and, most likely CAN change.

jenny February 7, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Actually, behind closed doors, the Republicans and Democrats don’t disagree on much. One of my friends who did security detail for a Washington Big Wig related to me once his complete and total astonishment at what went on behind closed doors.

At the grocery store tonight, as I read labels on Organic Sugar containers, my eyes swept passed the Splenda and I asked myself that very question….I shall look into it.

But, Bill…you don’t need artificial sweetners. You’re already sweet enough. :-) (if that’s how it works, perhaps I should start chugging sugar syrup to perk my personality).

Harry February 7, 2009 at 10:42 pm

Bill,

I respectfully submit that as free citizens we have to speak our opinions at all levels of government, even if we have no power to change things. The important thing is the ability to freely and openly speak one’s view of truth, and that ability is what makes you free.

jenny February 8, 2009 at 8:59 am

Nah, that isn’t what makes you free. What makes you free is saying the truth whether you are allowed to or not, and then fighting against hell and high water to bring down the tyrants.

Fortunately, freedom is popular. :-) Now if we could just find some brave and true leaders. William Wallace, only a little smarter tactically, because being disemboweled is such a 70′s ending….

You only demonstrate further your lack of understand the debate!

Thank You Johnny Isakson!

I had the pleasure of talking with Johnny today in Cherokee. He was the one who co-sponsored the idea Irarus and I floated about lowering interest rates for credit worthy people with home loans as part of the stimulus package.

Time to Bailout Main Street

http://www.peachpundit.com/2008/12/17/time-to-bail-out-main-street/

Johnny told me the Dems would not even allow a vote on this idea. I am asking Democrats and Republicans who support this concept to contact your representative and demand a vote if you support the idea. We must do what is right not use this issue as a political football!

Also Johnny was promoting tax cuts focused on new business generation which will throw off more revenue than the cut ie capital gains style. Spending should be focused on infrastructure that throws of more revenue than the cost ie electrical grid style. Any rational person would have a hard time arguing with this concept to help fix the problem.

Bottom line we are all Americans and if you care about your children more than your party please do the right thing!

And also THANK YOU Johnny Isakson for trying to do the right thing!

Daniel N. Adams February 8, 2009 at 10:35 am

John,
Youdemonstrate further your lack of understand the debate!

Where were all of these great ideas when the GOP actually had a chance to get things like this passed.

I’m now looking at GA, where the GOP still has the majority and still not seeing anything like what you’re proposing getting done. No, they’ve taken a break until they see how much $$$ they’ll have to spend. Why not do all these great things for small business here in GA? Cut state and local taxes, provide incentives here. They could base a budget on current revenues and use any increase in revenues to cut spending later…. That’s where the Sinicism towards Johnny is coming from. Tooo Little, TOOOO LATE! And where the GOP could actually get something done, NADA or more of the same.
I’ve seen more proposals of tax increases by the GOP here in GA than tax cuts. Damn hypocrites.

white trash February 8, 2009 at 11:59 am

I agree with Daniel. The GOP did nothing but more of the same so they lost 2 years ago.

We need a strong third party in DC! That would help everyone.

John Konop February 8, 2009 at 1:29 pm

Daniel N. Adams

Let me help you understand one part of the problem credit, lending and investing.

As I warned years ago everyone involved from investors, banks and consumer had out of control leverage ratio against equity when making loans, consuming loans and investing. . Also the leverage was based on appraisal value of an asset rather than the ability to pay for the loan or the ability to cover the investment if called. And finally the most toxic part of the lending crisis had very little down if any and step latter payments they could not afford if they did not liquidate before the note was adjusted. And that is why I kept warning people the economic growth was based on out of control debt.

What Icarus and I proposed was using the discipline of underwriting based on affordability of payment as part of the loan and real money down before lending the money. Can you not see the difference?

Also the underlying economic issue behind the gold standard is to control leverage rates. And any rational person would know that your solution of going back to the gold standard would create an Armageddon style depression with no guarantee of changing anything. A rational person would see who understands economics that what Icarus and I proposed and Johnny Isakson supports is rational bridge relative to the situation we are in.

As far as the trade deficit issue Indy is right. And the above policy was used to cover up an economic model that we consume way more than we produce. And this not only hurt our economy it also hurt China. Henry Ford had it right when he said my workers must make enough to buy the products they make.

Now for us to create new business and become more productive we need VC capital. By lowering capital gains you incent the VC money to come back into the market via easier for them to justify ROI (return on investment). If you combine this with spending on projects like the electrical grid infrastructure that spending would create way more revenue than you spent. Also we could reform trade deals because China understands this is not working having a work force that cannot buy the products they produce on a macro percentage.

I hope this gives you a little food for thought.

jenny February 8, 2009 at 11:01 pm

John,

Ok, you finally got me to laugh…or at least grin broadly.

“you only demonstrate further your lack of understand the debate.”

I’m just curious….were you born an old fart? You are just so not funny, interesting, magnanimous, generous, warm….not even a little pretend humility. I’m getting nothing….I’ve had pet rocks with more charm.

But for Bill Simon’s sake, I’ll KEEP TRYING.

After all, since I’m juvenile, childish and ignorant, I’m perfectly primed for the challenge of liking you.

Bill Simon February 9, 2009 at 12:24 am

But for Bill Simon’s sake, I’ll KEEP TRYING.

Jenny, I can see that John Konop is morphing into/bordering on becoming an a-hole in his debating tactics..and he STILL makes the mistake of copying-and-pasting OTHER people’s opinions in answer to any question.

So, I shall cut you free from the bonds of respecting my requests for patience with Konop, nudge you out in the cold with my snout, and leave you to fight as you choose. :-)

Bill Simon February 9, 2009 at 12:26 am

We need a strong third party in DC! That would help everyone.</I.

Nah. We need a scorching of the Earth of both Dems and GOPers.

jenny February 9, 2009 at 6:54 am

Amen, Bill. Amen.
