When in Rome….

You can now follow the City of Rome, GA on Twitter.

For you Twitter doubters, who poked fun at Sen. Eric Johnson for starting to use it, here’s a rather large list of Government, Political and Media types already using Twitter. If Twitter is used well it can provide very valuable interaction between politicians, government officials, media personalities, and the public.

For you warmongers, the Air Force, the Army, and the Navy are on Twitter. Left-wingers will like to know that Rachel Maddow, and Wonkette are on Twitter. You right-wingers might like to follow the American Spectator, the Cato Institute, and the Heritage Foundation.

Numerous Congresspersons of both parties are also on Twitter. The link for Congressman Tom Price doesn’t work so I can’t confirm that he’s on Twitter yet, however Saxby (don’t stop now that the campaign is over Senator!) and Dunwoody City Councilman John Heneghan are there. Thomas Wheatley of Creative Loafing tweets as does the AJC’s Political Insider.

Right leaning folks will also be interested in Top Conservatives on Twitter which ranks right-leaning Twitter users by number of followers. Many famous conservatives like Erick (#191) are there as well as lesser known small fries like me (#313). Many other Georgians are on the list as well.

Jason Pye and Clayton are the only other PP front pager poster on Twitter as far as I know.

I think Twitter is fine when it’s used correctly, although I don’t need to know how many sheets of TP you used to wipe this morning. There are only so many different ways can you post what you’re doing in your life.

Life was much better when you used to have to ask Clara to ring Andy for you down at the Sheriff’s office.

He’s the 69th most influential (whatever it was) but is barely in the top 200 of conservatives Twittering?

I’m a tech guy (as in computer person, not to be confused with bugs), and even I question whether we have become TOO open a society.

Using things like facebook, myspace, and twitter to keep in contact with old friends is one thing. HOWEVER, like atlantaman said, there are things I REALLY didn’t need to know!

Example: I just found out via facebook that an old friend is now pregnant with her second kid. Good for her!

I also found out a few weeks ago that an old friend got a boob job. Did I really need to know this???

I completely missed the part that Twitter was competitive. Now I must consider joining.

When in Rome…

Just Rome around freely and relax.

Did Rome just scream “get off my lawn” at us?

I didn’t know he was so old.
