What are your top stories in 2008?
I think we would have to include:
1. Creative Loafing’s financial issues
2. Challenges to the Speaker
3. Obama making Georgia competitive
4. Karen Handel v. Jim Powell
5. Water Issues
6. The continuing disintegration of Fulton County via mass incorporation
According to our internal traffic stats, here are the top viewed posts this past year at Peach Pundit:
(1) Bigfoot found in Georgia
(2) Tennessee v. Georgia: Water rights not football
(3) Creative Loafing’s difficulties / Ken Edelstein getting fired
(4) Gas shortages in and around Atlanta
(5) Clayton County Schools System losing accreditation
(6) The 50 most beautiful people in Georgia
(7) Soulja MARTA girl’s video and subsequent arrested
(8) Herman Cain goes full time on the radio after Chris Krok leaves WSB [actually a 2007 story that continued to get traffic in January and February]
(9) All things Gena Evans
(10) The demise of Vernon “Snuggles” Jones’s political career.
Now what are your stories of interest?
UPDATE: Ruby reminds me of something. Truth be told, this is our most trafficked story of 2008, followed by this one. Numbers one through ten in the list above are actually three through twelve. The reason I did not include the other two is because all the traffic was internal jumping around — not people coming from elsewhere into Peach Pundit for stories.

Don’t forget the thread of dreams!
How many times did it crash the server?
http://www.peachpundit.com/2008/01/11/huckabee-has-won-his-last-primary/
Additions/Subtractions of front page posters not on the list?
I’m underwhelmed.
Wait, wait, wait.
Handel v. Powell is number 4,
but no Keith Gross?
Rugby, I need to update to make note of that.
That’s better.
I’ve still got 9,000 marbles to go, and I’m not afraid to use them.
In my opinion, the biggest news story of the year was Erick Erickson’s outrageous revocation of Grayson “SpaceyG” Daughters’ front-page posting rights.
Erickson’s oppressive action was the most shocking affront to women’s rights since Susan B. Anthony’s 1872 arrest for voting, or the time Amber Rhea accidentally banned herself from her own blog.
Peach Pundit without Grayson’s thoughtful, articulate, progressive prose is like Hannity without the charismatic, in-your-face liberalism of Alan Colmes by his side: doomed to failure.
Paging Andy: I think some feminist somewhere took over your PP account.
What about that thread accusing the GA GOP of major intrigue at the state convention? Weren’t they dreaming then?
Andy,
1) See the predictions post, and
2) Any updates on your, um, status?
My top story for 2008 is the March 14 Atlanta Tornado. Second was Obama defeating McCain at 11pm on November 4, 2008. Third was the deaths of Tim Russert and Tony Snow.
Jeff:
Don’t lie, Sarah Doyle is your top story.
Don’t lie, Sarah Doyle is your top story.
Why her. She does not deserve any honorable mention from me. She is arrogant and speaks out of her hind quarters. I prefer George Wallace and Lester Maddox to her.
“I prefer George Wallace and Lester Maddox to her.”
And there it is.
There what is Rugby?
Now that Andisheh has some spare time, it appears we’ll all be treated to his insightful personal commentary about all the people who have said something critical about one of his articles.
Keep nursin’ that glass jaw bud.
Rugby’s right, and you know what “it” is, North.
Magic Jeff,
How were you involved in the deaths of Tim russert and Tony snow
I wasn’t. I was speaking of their deaths being a big news story because the news people lost two very talented and hard working people. I never knew them, so I couldn’t have done anything.
Awww, shucks. Thanks, guys. Happy New Year.
I know it will shock you that I am the TOP STORY in 2008!
Seriously … I can PROVE it!
1) Pick your Favorite number between 1-9

At the risk of pretense, this summarizes 2008’s biggest stories in song:

“At the risk of pretense,…”
Seriously, do you think that even slows the rest of us down?
Why don’t you quit with all the pretense you JACKASS!
Take a look at my photo. It’s a cartoon character.
My entire existance is based on pretense.
And, for the moment anyway, some high powered medication that has kept me asleep far more than awake thus far this year.
Take a look at my photo. It’s a cartoon character.
If we should look at your photo, then that gives us every right to take a look at my eyebrows. My eyebrows are the kind of thing that you would see at a Car Wash.
May bad
I was calling Tea Party a Jackass.
I would think the top story of 2008 has to be the thread that dared to dream and the Tanalach Media’s killing of the dream
I would think so too, Rome. I would think so too.
What about Saxby “I could win this with my eyes closed” Chambliss’ horrible campaign and the resulting runoff?
I would think the top story of 2008 has to be the thread that dared to dream and the Tanalach Media’s killing of the dream
Which thread was that?
