Snap! Wrens, Georgia has done what Atlanta couldn’t: banned saggy pants without having to study the issue in perpetuity. Yup, pants halfway down your leg are now going to be banned by the full force of the law.
The ordinance states that it is unlawful to wear “pants or shorts more than three inches below the waist (crest of the ilium).”
However, sloppy dressers, fear not. There is an escape clause which, if properly followed, will allow you to continue to walk in an irregular, bizarre manner while your wallet falls out on the pavement and your course is dictated by wind patterns and the billowing denim of your garments.
Council member Ceola Hannah asked how the law handled sagging pants that were covered by a shirt or other outerwear. Dube explained that if the pants are sagging but the undergarments and skin are covered by other outerwear, then the person is not in violation of the ordinance.
