by Jason Pye on December 20, 2008

Sen. Eric Johnson, a candidate for Lt. Governor in 2010, is now on Twitter.

Any other Georgia politicians on Twitter?

Twitter is certainly a word derived from the appropriate root.

Bill Simon December 20, 2008 at 8:34 pm

Witter?

“Twitter is certainly a word derived from the appropriate root.”

Unlike in your case where it is derived from the inappropriate root.

Close Simon.

Bob Barr was on Twitter.

Game Fan December 21, 2008 at 12:11 pm

An unfortunate name indeed. That is, if a politician is making a big deal about it. Like, “Hey guys, I’m on Twitter”. Shucks I’m still trying to figure out blogger. And I don’t have an iPhone either. I guess that makes me old school. :)

GOPeach December 21, 2008 at 12:59 pm

So what’s Twitter?

Doug Deal December 21, 2008 at 4:47 pm

It is yet another substitute for real human interaction. Think blogging about what type of toilet paper you are buying over text messaging.

reggiejg December 21, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Seems like a waste to use a computer to restrict yourself to text-messaging capability. I’d like to say I’m surprised Twitter has any following at all, but nothing about our culture surprises me anymore.

Can I say that someone uses Twatter without getting suspended?

Twitter might work in a big city with a bunch of little kids OR techno-geeks. But, I doubt very seriously that the vast majority of voters are going to want to “track” their candidates throughout every waking moment of the day.

Icarus just broke down and joined Facebook.

For the record, I have 3 friends.

I guess I’m going to take part in this new millenium after all.

I am not now, nor have I ever been a Twit, and I don’t plan to become one either.

Of course, I said the same thing about Facebook. Damn you Fred Thompson!!!!!

I just don’t get these kinds of sites. I mean, they can be fun, but what’s the point?

Doug Deal December 31, 2008 at 3:31 pm

NGI,

What’s the point of talking to your neighbor or watching a sporting event with a friend? It is a way to pass the time and socialize.

Bill Simon December 31, 2008 at 4:03 pm

Nindy,

The point is to connect with people you likely wouldn’t have time (or opportunity) to connect with otherwise. It’s kinda interesting, actually.

Alos, if you happend to attend a school in the current era (as opposed to the Neanderthal era), you might be able to re-connect with old classmates and re-live old times.

The TMC is slow in processing name changes this holiday season.

FYI, I’m the winged dude blogging from the tech MVP tailgate party (misnomer), if any of you nerds are in the area.
