This is pathetic

by Erick on December 12, 2008

Chris Krok, who handles morning talk duties on AM 940 here in Macon, has been a huge champion on the police department. When Elaine Lucas, a member of City Council, sought to interject herself into personnel issues within the police department here in Macon, Krok went after her. He’s been insistent that Council members let the police department do its job.

Well, the Police Department has invited Krok to speak at an Awards dinner tomorrow night. That resulted in this email from Elaine, who wanted members of the media copied on the email:

It has come to my attention that there is a potentially divisive situation about to be created by the invitation from the Police department to Chris Krok for the police awards program tomorrow night. I had planned to attend along with my son and his date as I always try to support the police department both in spirit and in council proceedings. I will, unfortunately, not be able to attend the program. My husband is incensed that this person would be invited since he has heard me over the years talking with and advocating on behalf of police officers as we lay in bed together late at night. Many of the officers are retired, but some are currently employed police officers, and at the time, had legitimate concerns for their jobs. I have been there for over 20 years working on behalf of our law enforcement. But this is an insult and I take it personally. It is also my understanding that other council members and some police officers will not attend if Chris Krok attends and is on the program. Does the police chief condone the reckless actions of Chris Krok? Do we want to further divide our city workforce? Does the police chief condone allowing Chris Krok to freely ride with police officers purely for the purpose of further dividing this community? I hope not. I am seeking an answer from the police chief and the Mayor. Joyce, would you please forward this message to all council members, Mayor Reichert, and all news media. Of course, Chris Krok loves the media attention–positive or negative.

If that wasn’t enough, she followed up with this threat to the Police Department (she sits on the Appropriations Committee):

What I am simply saying that there have been many police officers that have sought my assistance and support in pay issues and personal employment issues over the years. My husband has listened to conversations that I have had with these officers who have called at all hours of the day and night. Some of these calls have come very late after we were all in bed. I have listened and supported and comforted. To have this same police department turn against me and invite (or allow) Chris Krok to speak at an awards program where they know that I will be in attendance is an insult. I am asking for immediate action to uninvite him or I will not attend. All future police department concerns and budget requests should be addressed to Chris Krok for action.

It is a dangerous thing when elected officials begin bullying others to censor people or face repercussions.

“My husband is incensed that this person would be invited since he has heard me over the years talking with and advocating on behalf of police officers as we lay in bed together late at night. ”

I was no english major, but did she just say she’s sleeping with Chris Krok? No wonder her husband is incensed.

LoyaltyIsMyHonor December 12, 2008 at 11:52 am

Geeez, she’s been serving on and off since 1983? Is there nothing better to do in Macon?

Icarus December 12, 2008 at 11:53 am

“Is there nothing better to do in Macon?”

Have you been there?

Doug Deal December 12, 2008 at 12:01 pm

How about not going because Chris Krok is pretty much a moronic hack and nothing but a big boring waste of time. I stopped listening to WMAC completely because of him.

I used to work in Macon, for about half that time I was living in Albany (Warner Robins the other half).

Yeah, there aint much to do there. Of course, same can be said of Albany.

On the issue, I don’t know enough about what is going on. I tried to stay out of the local politics up there.

jimbeall December 12, 2008 at 12:34 pm

By all appearances, she has displayed that she is unfit to serve on the appropriations committee. The question becomes is there a mechanism to remove her from the committee and will the Council show the resolve to do so.

I won’t hold my breath waiting.

Are you kidding me? I barely made out of DeKalb with my life!

I have never met the Councilwoman from Macon, But I have friends in Macon that have plenty to say about city politics-none of it is flattering.

If Macon has a City Manager-that person has already been threatened to be fired when he-she reminds the council member that the charter forbids them from the above activities in a dep.. (the police chief is sending a message as well by asking the radio guy to speak at the banquet)

If you’ve ever worked for local gov’t in a position that has responsibility or if you have been a dept. head -you’ll know that the stuff she is saying is as common as dirt.

It’s rare to find a politician on a council or commision that is not just like her. (it’s worse if they’re a mayor or chaiman)

Red Phillips December 12, 2008 at 4:27 pm

I liked the guy they had before Krok. He was sympathetic to Ron Paul. Krok is just a mainstream Republican hack.

Icarus December 12, 2008 at 4:30 pm

“I liked the guy they had before Krok. He was sympathetic to Ron Paul.”

Erick was sympathetic to Ron Paul?

Erick Erickson?

Red Phillips December 12, 2008 at 4:45 pm

No. The morning guy on the radio that Krok replaced. I can’t recall his name.

Daniel N. Adams December 12, 2008 at 4:46 pm

I think Red P meant the guy before Erick. Either that or he was pitching you a yuk/yuk softball. Erick, a Ron Paul sympathyzer… that is funny… and sad, for he should’ve been.

Red Phillips December 12, 2008 at 4:47 pm

I know Erick couldn’t stand Ron Paul’s authentic Constitutionalism. That is why I threw my little comment in. To tweak him.

Red Phillips December 12, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Found it. His name was Shane McBryde.

liberator December 12, 2008 at 7:45 pm

Shane McByrde was the great host who supported Ron Paul. Krok is a moron who should be sued for slander by many folks he has lied about. He is a Fascist and a jerk. He is a disgrace and hopefully will soon be off the air when the January ratings come out. he is the worst excuse for a host I’ve ever seen. Why WMAC let’s this liar stay on the air is beyond me and many others. He lied about Elaine saying she forced Ritalin on her pupils. Krok is the disgusting one.

liberator December 12, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Shane was good man. Krok is a jerk and liar.

liberator December 12, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Krok is a disgrace.

Erick December 12, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Oh Liberator, you just don’t like him because he’s called you out on the radio for some of your crazy op-eds in the paper.

USA1 December 12, 2008 at 11:34 pm

I wish Elaine Lucas would force Chris Krok to take Ritalin.

So Erick, Krok is still a big champion of the police department, huh? Is it like when he was in Atlanta and was going “break wide open” the conspiracy behind the Kathryn Johnston shooting? Krok kept babbling on and on about how he was going to prove what really happened and how the police would be exonerated. I think it’s appropriate you mistakenly that he is a huge champion “on” the police department. Because Krok one of those cowards guys who lives vicariously through men and women who put their lives on the line and have more strength and courage in their pinky finger than Krok could ever dream to possess.

eschristian December 13, 2008 at 3:07 am

I did not listen too much to Krok because the time he was on here in Atlanta but the times I did I thought he was funny. He was so hyper but that was part of what I thought was funny about him. I remember he did a protest during the amnesty folks – very loud – very hyper – and very funny. I don’t remember anything too crazy he did, but again I only heard him just a few times because he was on late here.

Vic December 13, 2008 at 4:45 pm

Doug,

I agree 100%. One good thing about Krok is that he is flushing the central-ga, extreme right wing, racist, bigots and hypocrites out of their closets as they line up to support him.

liberator December 13, 2008 at 9:17 pm

Erickson Krok hasn’t called me out on anything pal! My op ed’s are a stroke of genius and Krok can’t handle the unbridled Libertarian truth. I am the one calling that coward Krok out for being a Fascist and a Liar.

liberator December 13, 2008 at 9:19 pm

Krok is a gutless wonder and my op eds are a stroke of brilliant truth that Krok and the Zealots can’t refute!

Maurice Atkinson December 13, 2008 at 11:53 pm

Vic, extreme right wing racist bigots? No way. Many of us are simply tired of the deceit that has become the norm in our local government. For once, someone has raised the issue, where before it was taboo.

The Telegraph has been completely complacent in reporting. It isn’t that the problems are hard to find, they are in your face. They simply choose to turn a blind eye. Case and point, in the Telegraph’s endorsement of my opponent, the editorial board erroneously printed that my opponent had repaid the money and that they had confirmed it with County Officials. The fact is, they did not. I called the Editorial Page editor and querried him about their editorial. He told me who he had confirmed it with. I called the County official and found they did not, only what I had already alleged.

Krok may not know the history of some of his fight, but he is dogged in finding the facts. He may step on a few toes in the process, as he did mine. When given the documentation he corrected the error, which is more than I can say for the Telegraph.

Maurice Atkinson December 13, 2008 at 11:56 pm

Vic,

One thing I can say about the Republicans, when we have a dirty politician we run him out. Name one dirty Democrat politician they have run out????

Bill Simon December 14, 2008 at 6:25 pm

YEAH, VIC! Yeah! YOU answer THAT question, Home-Boy!

Tinkerhell December 15, 2008 at 12:07 pm

It is sooo far past time for Lucas to go it’s not even amusing. As soon as a politician starts thinking they have power to wield and they can do so as an attack against someone rather than doing so because it’s the right thing to do… it’s time they get run out of the position. That’s the problem with most politicians.

Krok is slightly amusing. I prefer Kenny B. Now if he just wasn’t in bed with the telegraph I’d be very pleased. Even with that I mostly listen to 100.9 instead of 940. I can only handle Krok in small doses.

Even with that said, he’s right in this case. The whole thing is hilarious actually. Some half baked radio wanna be shock jock is causing this much uproar with a city council person. Come on. Anyone that’s gotten themselves elected to that position SHOULD have the intelligence to be able to deal with Krok in such a manner that his rants become a non-factor. Elaine however is corrupt, she isn’t that bright (though I’ll give her cunning) and she has been the unopposed school yard bully for so long that she can’t handle someone standing up to her.

It probably won’t matter one bit though. The reason she has held her position for so long is because people vote for the external person rather than for the ideals & positions the person holds. $5 will get ya $10 she will win her seat at the next election no matter what she does. Until someone can prove criminal negligence against her anyway….

Oh, and Shane McBride?
Please.
He and Ron couldn’t host their way out of a wet paper bag. He had potential but the way he would ALWAYS do his show research while on the mike… Arrrrg. And Ron Frazier couldn’t interview/talk to anyone without taking over the conversation & relating some ridiculous bit of his personal history. Arrrg (x2).

I had stopped listening to 940 even before he got fired for smoking pot at someone’s house. That someone being so stupid as to let the police into their home (where the owner knew something illegal was going on) without requiring them to get a warrant first. Stupid is as stupid does.

That created some A.C.s over here. (audible chuckles)

Vic December 15, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Maurice,
Please refresh my memories on the local “dirty Republican Politicians” that your local republican group has run out of office?

Maurice Atkinson December 15, 2008 at 11:26 pm

Can we say Ralph Reed? I do believe a number of us were loud against the Speaker. Republicans here have a strong balance and can support a Dem if he is capable and shares common values (ie Reichert, Epps, Edwards, Hutto, Marshall etc). The local Democrat apparatus is full of corrupt politicians yet they can’t handle springing a Rep lever.

Name one Dem who has stood up and address the issues I’ve raised regarding the Commissioner. Had a Republican been so careless and arrogant you would have eaten his shorts. Y’all look like a deer in the headlights and say “so what”.

They won’t even come close to touching ethics reform cause of sticky fingers. One Commissioner told me, “it was a bunch of feces”.

Well, I’m going to keeping pointing the garbage out and I have challenged the Commissioner to provide one shred of documentation that refutes what I have documented and posted. He won’t and can’t. You tell me what is feces?

Vic December 16, 2008 at 12:11 am

But to prove your point, did you have to team up with a boy whose previous audience claims that he finds humor in children losing their limbs on amusement rides?

http://www.macon-bibb.com/Krok-Pot.htm

Maurice Atkinson December 16, 2008 at 1:06 am

The only thing I’ve heard Krok go overboard on was Doc and Susan. That made me cringe as I appreciate both of them enormously. I have little respect for the Politburo as they fail to look at the facts, and printed fabrications. When called on it, they simply said they would let them know.

At least Krok challenges the edge. If the mainstream won’t print or report the facts, then there are certainly alternatives. When I challenged Krok and provided him documentation after he thumped me, he promptly acknowledged the facts and corrected it. That is far more than the Telegraph will do.

You have a town that is literally destroying itself from within. The corruption in this local government is blatant and easily identifiable. Violent crime is rampant and the powers that be won’t even acknowledge it!

I’ve not teamed up with Krok, I simply provided him with irrefutable documentation one time. I do not mind be allied with him, if he continues to consider the facts. At least one of his competitors will not challenge the facts. If you are going to fix a problem, you have to acknowledge that it does exist. If Krok can be a catalyst to move an apathetic public, then I’m all for it.

Vic December 16, 2008 at 4:25 pm

I think the root of the problem is that our Politicians and particularly under Perdue & Richardson have taken all the teeth out of any serious ethics reform or resolution. There are several years of Ethics charges piled up on our Attorney General’s desk and no one is talking about it.

What is the difference between Georgia Governor Perdue’s land deals and subsequent Political Appointments and Chicago Governor Rod Blagojevich’s current debacle?

Krok went overboard with me also Maurice big time! If I wasn’t a political figure I would sue his lying tail for slander. Attorneys for many he has slandered are taking notes I promise You that! The Anti-Defemation League has him on their radar screen also. It is time for him to go!
