Ah Tea,

So you aren't lining up behind the GOP, the party that became a Socialist outfit bent on socializing Wall Street theft?

Saxby and Johnny's socialist schemes now are in the $8 trillion range, but GOP chieftans think they are models for reforming the party.

The GOP has no principles except opportunism.

What an amazing insight y'all provide on the election postmortem. In an argument between form v. substance, substance ought to win every time.

While I must agree the mechanics of running the ball downfield are critical, if the players minds 'aren't right' they won't score. As a lifelong GOP voter I have never questions my Parties values until this last election cycle.

While I respect that comments to any blog ought to be topical and relevant, Mr.Konops' 'policy' words really outline a start on what any fiscally conservative, socially moderate GOP voter wants to see.

Often times the mechanics fall right in line when message is clear.

Congratulating ourselves on how little we lost in this cycle is like saying the Titanic took a lot longer to sink because it was 'unsinkable'.

BTW, Congratulations to Andrew Hixon, Norcross City Council!

We need new blood, new ideas, and new bi-partisan cooperation, lads and laddies, or we ALL are going to pay the piper, and pay 'em good. I for one do not wish to see breadlines in 2020.

Mayans say the world will end in 2012. Coincidentally (or not) it is the first presidential election where I'm eligible to run.

And while the s--t sandwich might not really be what it looks like, it does smell like what it is.

The PR firm for Farris 12 would like to clear up the comment by Chris. The s–t sandwich really is not what it looks like. I hope this clears up the comment.

Farris in 12 or 10 it all depends

John,

I dont completely disagree with you but the Party Chairman has basic, blue-collar, grassroots responsibilities that have litte to do with policy. Organizing precinct walks, phone banks and Absentee Programs have nothing to do with policy at all. If these things arent done right we will lose....regardless of the issues of the day.

Sue has personally responded to every e-mail I have sent her and returned every phone call I have made to her. That says a lot to me.

I forgot about the McCain/Jesus comment. :) Everybody kind of paused when she said that.

Joesatlanta

I may be bias because I do respect and like Sue. And I do think relative to the situation she did a good job. I just think this is not a distraction from the real issues hurting the GOP.

In all seriousness do you not think the right issues will help with a ground game?

I am just you average parent on the weekend going to the soccer game or gymnastics meet watching my kids. And I travel all over Georgia via my kids in sports and talk to fellow parents. And what I hear from most parents is they want real solutions not more BS from either side.

You don't blame Sue and Co. on the general election. The problem is much deeper than that. Saxby had the liberals against him on the left and the conservatives against him on the right. It wasn't until you had Martin bashing Saxby on the Fairtax, that the hardcores started to come around for him.

Georgia is a red state, but in light of the Obama onslaught and an economy the doesn't favor incumbents, I think we did pretty well not to lose a single state senator, a net loss of one house member, win an open seat for PSC, and not lose a single incumbent Federal official.

The one specific thing I can think of the state party making a mistake on is the absentee ballot request forms being quite confusing. Thousands were sent back due to lack of signatures.

John,

There are so many that keep saying Saxby should have had Primary opposition. Why dont you think a good fight within our party leadership is needed too? Fixing the problem begins with creating solutions. We should have three or four good candidates for State Chairman.....let them bring their solutions to the table. The incumbent of any seat shouldnt feel like they are entitled to another term, let Sue earn another term on the campaign trail where she has a chance to plead her case. She shouldnt be playing the pity card ....she should be talking about what she'll do as Chairman if reelected. This isnt about, Pro-life, gay marriage and the economy its about a groundgame, GOTV and Grass-roots. To be honest if a male Chairman had been kept off the stage and not acknowledged most people would be saying "oh, thats just the way the big boys play....they dont like eachother anyway" and this would be a nonissue. The sweet nice lady image can get you through one cycle but Sue now needs to be tough, stop complaining about everyone else, put up her plan for 2009 and get to work.

yeah i looked up the rules after i posted the question shep--i am thankfully not a lawyer--but my cursory reading of the rule seems to imply election to a partisan office--which as you noted many municipal offices are not, it mentions primaries and has a clause that immediately throws you out of leadership if you qualify for office as a member of another party--and the only definitive way to do that would be running for an office that one runs for under a party affiliation...

My point is simple you can keep blaming the chairman of fix the problem. Why does anyone think a new chairman will make any difference?
