I’ve only gotten one of those flyers, that being the last one. I strongly urge you guys to support McDonald on December 2. There really is no other choice. Powell knows how to tempt people into voting for him and he seems to have lots of charm when campaigning, but that is all he has going for him. In reality, he would not make energy any more affordable than it is and he would vote in the GA PSC as an Ultra Liberal. McDonald is not like that at all, McDonald is an effective leader who will advocate more affordable energy and tighter energy security. Vote McDonald!!!
The worst thing that could happen to our electric and gas rates is Bubba getting elected. How could anyone support a guy who puts for an opinion written by Georgia Power’s lobbyist firm (Troutman Sanders) as his own? Bubba, the party switching snake, always has been, is, and always will be nothing but a puppet of Georgia Power with only their interests as his concern. If you pay attention to the debates and the actual issues, you’ll see that the right choice for georgians is not Bubba.
“Powell is the only candidate with experience in the field governed by the PSC.”
Didn’t McDonald actually serve on the PSC?
If you don’t want to vote for McDonald, because you think he might lean too far with the utilities, or don’t like Powell because you think his green energy ideas will raise our rates – then fine, but if you’re talking about pure experience I don’t see how you can’t give that to a former member.
Look, I’m not here to say whether “experience” is bad or good, or if Bubba is a utility lacky or not, I’m just saying it’s a disingenuous for Powell to say he’s the most experienced candidate when it’s doubtful if he even knows where the PSC building is located.
It seems as if it is a familiar routine here, somebody regurgitates Powell’s contention that he’ll be the most experienced Commissioner in the history of the PSC, then that claim is countered with the fact that Bubba has actually served on the PSC and that the scope of the PSC’s duties are way beyond the job Powell had at DOE, then to rebut a strawman is thrown out (having nothing to do with the original assertion) that Bubba is a a utility lacky.
That’s a good point about politicians with experience. Prostitutes have experience too. And yet, there always seems to be something missing. Or so I’m told.
I still haven’t decided my vote here. I need to figure out if my needs are better served giving a blank check to Ga power, or if I should give an automatic no vote to the sierra club. Both will raise my rates, but which one will keep my lights on?
And if I, Mister informed blogger voter type thinks its too long to read, what about the *cough*average*cough* Georgian citizen voter?
How shall I mock thee, let me count the ways:

Dazzling stock photography? You bet! Betcha paid royalties to use those images, and didn’t just use the ‘right-click-save-as’ acquisition.
Inevitable cheezy low quality head shot? Darlin’ get out your digital camera for Daddy, please.
Is it printed on 100% post-consumer recyclable paper? Bleach sulfide free? Union bug anywhere?
And why is there ALWAYS a US flag photoshopped behind said inevitable cheezy head shot, and not.. a GA flag? Argh, the stars and stripes have become a de facto uniform for politicians. Why not wear an Uncle Sam suit?
It. Is. A. State. Office.
Serious campaigns do not use pre-teen Art Directors.
Put all that drivel in a commercial. Or two.
Other than that, attacking an opponent for not knowing their position because of the leading questions of so-called ‘voter guides’, he quacks like a Bubba.
Both candidates have said nuclear is an option. The only difference is that McDonald says it’s the only option for GA. Anyone knows you don’t put all your eggs in one basket. That’s Powell’s point. Nuclear is an option and needs to be included in the mix, but it’s not the only option on the table. That, to me, sounds more reasonable than nuclear being the only option.
I’m still trying to figure out how Chase Daughtery landed on Bubba’s mailer (notice the language near the bottom of the 1st & 3rd scans above)…considering that he’s “technically” running as an Independent (I believe) for Cook Co. Probate Judge, albeit against a Democrat opponent. …I say technically, b/c there’s not really any doubt in my mind that Chase is a conservative Republican – I’m assuming that he had to run as an Indpendent due to qualifying deadlines / maybe residency dates? I still thought it was funny that he’s on a statewide mailer though…I mean, how many of these have gone out to Cook County residents? Best of luck to him though…hope he wins – might need some help with a speeding ticket in Adel one day, you never know!
He’s already got the “Democrat” and the “Jim” thing working against him. So why include Obama in the video? What are his views on abortion? (just kidding) But seriously, how would a Republican be better than a Democrat in this position? For certain positions with State and local how much does party matter? F.Y.I. I voted for Tommy Irvin for commissioner of Ag. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaf1lyaqgSI
As a side note, I’m a “small G” green/enviro conservative. Not real bog on “who’s who” with environmentalists. And after some arm twisting I’ve eliminated my link to the Sierra club. Now I’m looking for a “small government green org. Any ideas? How about this one? http://www.communitiesinbloom.ca/App_Images/AdminImages/Image/Logos/Scotts Turf Builder Logo.jpg

Are you Mountain Repulbican too? You sure sound a lot like him. Maybe you’re not him and just another Bubba shill.
I am a Mountain Conservative. I occasionally support Democrats. I am not Bubba McDonald, I support him though.
The guy looks really shady in these mailers. Cheesy.
It is a real shame that there is no Democratic party in GA.
Powell is the only candidate with experience in the field governed by the PSC.

Partly why “experience” is a bad meme for a candidate. “Experience” doesn’t mean one is competent or actually qualified.
re: atlantaman
If, by experience, you mean experience doing whatever Troutman Sanders vis a vis Georgia Power tells him to do, then he has loads of experience.
Look, I’m not here to say whether “experience” is bad or good, or if Bubba is a utility lacky or not, I’m just saying it’s a disingenuous for Powell to say he’s the most experienced candidate when it’s doubtful if he even knows where the PSC building is located.

We might be better off with amateurs. I have some videos.

Sadly, I’m leaning bubba.

re: Icarus -
Did you watch the latest debate and the discussion on the Sierra Club endorsement?
Has anyone seen this video? Was it on TV?

I love the line: “say no to politicians who would rather server Georgia Power than Georgia’s people.”
MM,
No, I did not. Explain if you care to. I want to vote for someone that will expand nuclear power.
