Remember Spencer Price?

by Erick on November 21, 2008

Rogue blogged about it. I blogged about it.

The gist:

The Medical Center of Central Georgia helps a doctor set up a practice with a $150,000.00. The military orders the doctor to Iraq and he is forced to shut down his practice.

When he returns, he tries to pay back the loan under an installment agreement. The Medical Center refuses and sues him for a lump sum payment. The courts agree with the doctor that the breach of contract was out of his control and allows him to pay in installments.

Not content, the Medical Center of Central Georgia sues him again.

Both of our posts were based on this article in the Macon Telegraph by Gene Rector. I’ve been digging some more.

The Telegraph might want to retract the story.

Apparently, the “installments” are the garnishments that the Medical Center of Central Georgia has been forced to file because Price would not pay the installments as ordered by Judge English. Hence the need to sue him again.

That’s a totally different — and far more accurate — take from what the Telegraph reported.

Erick, Rogue, how are your knees feeling with all that jerking?
I’m pretty dim, but as I read the story, I kept asking myself that there must be more to this story…people, even selfish people, just don’t act like that in front of the world.

Actually, I feel pretty good, thanks!

And while A. Don Faulk isn’t the bastard I thought he was, I still don’t like his name.

And I hate the way the Macon Telegraph reports stuff.

I just need some Obama Spirit!

Same here Rogue.

I’m pretty sure I went to undergrad with him. I recall a Spencer Price in some of my Chem and Bio classes at Mercer in the late 80’s and early 90’s. He was older than the other students (maybe 27 or 28 as a sophomore). If I remember correctly, he had been a journalist in Thomaston and he quit that because he wanted to go to med school. He went to Mercer for undergrad and I heard he eventually went to Mercer’s med school. I’m pretty sure this is him. I didn’t know him very well, but he always struck me as polite and focused on completing his educational/career goal of becoming a doctor. I guess he made it. It’s unfortunate that he’s caught up in this brouhaha.

Another (trivial) note: Judge English is the judge who was on Survivor.

I am shocked that a news outlet fails to check a story for accuracy. Next thing you know, blogs wont be doing any checking…

Erick and Rogue: You can bring yourself to just simply apologize for maligning the guy in public?

StevePerkins November 21, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I can’t believe that boyreporter just posted a sensible comment that I actually agree with. Wow.

Erick November 21, 2008 at 5:50 pm

boyreporter, I don’t think either of maligned him. In fact, we both took up for the guy.

StevePerkins November 21, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Umm… I think boyreporter was referring to Don Faulk. The guy you called a jerk and Rogue called a bastard… before posting a link to the man’s LinkedIn profile and loudly encouraging people to harass him.

You know, before that all turned out to be unwarranted… and you guys tried to direct all the blame toward the Telegraph without so much as an “Oops, my bad!” on Peach Pundit’s end.

Erick November 21, 2008 at 6:43 pm

Oh, I never mentioned him. And I think this post sets the record straight.

LoyaltyIsMyHonor November 22, 2008 at 1:38 pm

Yeah, Eric is right. He only referred to MCG collective as “jerks.” I get called that almost on a daily basis….and have been called worse things on this very forum. Rogue did put an apology at the bottom of hiw original post. But I still think the guy needs a separate apology posting :(
