From the AJC. Hat Tip: Creative Loafing
Members of state transportation board met for two hours Thursday behind closed doors and discussed the future of Transportation Commissioner Gena Evans, but ended without taking action, board members said afterward.
A committee of the DOT board, joined by a half dozen or so other members, spent about two hours behind closed doors. Much of the meeting was spent discussing recent media reports surrounding Commissioner Gena Evans, board leaders said.
It was a “thorough discussion of all the things that have been going on the last two weeks,” said DOT board Chairman Bill Kuhlke.
Recent television news reports have suggested that Evans improperly helped men she was dating or had dated. The men worked at her agency or for a contractor overseen by her agency. She has denied the reports. Other recent news reports described sexually explicit e-mails she had made on state computers in 2003, when she was single and worked at the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission. Thursday morning, when asked if she had any intent to resign, Evans said, “None whatsoever.” She reeled off a list of her accomplishments since she took over DOT nearly one year ago.
The full board meets next week. Kuhlke said that Evans could be discussed again, but he believed she had the support of a majority of the board.

nice to see some good news. I rag Sonny a lot he did the right thing with her
I agree!
Unfortunately I didn’t get to witness the spectacle yesterday but I heard from others it was media packed. Doss had called every person he knew in the media and told them to be there because she was going to be fired – when will they learn about his angry little white man syndrome and stop listening to him? Matt Towery over at Insider DisAdavantage had a story that earth shattering news was going to come forward and she would be gone – so much for his “inside advantage.”
Doss had better be calling his local glass manufacturer because he is going to need a discount after he stops throwing his rocks and others return the favor. Do the names Elisabeth, Lisa and RBC, CWM ring any bells?
“Do the names Elisabeth, Lisa and RBC, CWM ring any bells?”
Cowbells only.
If they try to change commissioners is this insider trading?
You know, for all you people who call names whether Ms. Evans, Elizabeth, Lisa, RBC or CWM, you need to examine your life closely. Before you look at trying to hurt others you need to remember you reap what you sow in this world. Ringing bells? throwing peoples names out there who have probably never done anything to you. You need to remember that if Ms. Evans has done wrong, then she will have to answer to a higher power. If not, she will be prevail. Politics is an ugly game. I don’t even know you are but to throw others out there and try to hurt them and then hide behind a fake name is cowardly and wrong. I serisously your actions are ones your mother would be proud of. My log in stands for Pslams 37. You should reading it.
A few personal incoming/outgoing e-mails is an utter non-issue (unless other employees have been disciplined for similiar type and/or quantities of e-mail).
From the little that’s been publicly established, a small reprimand concerning the appearance of impropriety may be in order. To those making this an issue, “Where’s the beef?”
I heard the same as BtG did but I heard that they went in to closed session after she made a report updating the Board about the long list of things they gave her 6 months ago to do in the next year. Described as a “management whiz” in earlier reports, she had all the items finished in 6 months and asked the boys, “So what do you wanna do next?” Kinda hard to fire her when she did what they wanted in 6 months versus a year. They just don’t want to get rid of the political game that brings money home to their districts so they can look like heroes. Pretty sick in my mind as a taxpayer. I got an idea… fire them and keep her.

What do You have to do to get a sexy e-mail from her? She is hot!
She is hot! I want one of those hot emails
Bearse-
I’m an Evans supporter, but she is very extreme about the folks reporting to her adhering to the rules.
Take a close look at the relationship between ethics gadfly George Anderson who grabbed the e-mails per GA Open Records Act and that of DOT Board Member David Doss. Both men are from Rome and know each other. Doss is very unhappy with how Evans is revising the guidelines for what does and does not constitutue available cash for road projects.
Whoop-dee-do, Jaw. Is Mr. Anderson doing anything unethical? What about Doss?
Non-subject.
