I’d love to know how many GA Public High School graduates know that GA is one of the original 13 Colonies.

Or that our state legislature, to willing to accept favors and alcohol from well meaning business interests, got drunk one night and gave away Alabama and Mississippi to a private land company.

That could never happen today.

Most people don’t realize we used to have buffaloes in Ga or that our state line went all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

When I was in school, 5th and 8th grade “Georgia History” was almost 100% about the War of Northern Aggression.

Then again, when I was in school, it may have been a current events class. Hard to remember.

The story says less than half of the markers are where battles took place. BEFORE the War we had cotton and Vivien Leigh. AFTER the war we had peanuts and Jimmy Carter.
