I'm not sure if the British Parliament would have room for a Paul Broun type. His self critique of fellow Republicans is great. And there's no room for that if everyone is "singing the same tune". How can Republicans be for free markets and competition or representative govt. if they don't allow dissent within their own ranks? And the dissent plays well with independents too. In his book "conservatives without Conscience" John Dean said dissent is a Republican tradition. Fiscal conservatism plays well also. Nobody identifies themselves as a fiscal liberal, although Bushco may carry this label to their graves. Of course most Dems are focused on the Marxist statement and in defensive mode. AHHAHAAA! Add to this the blogger factor. Bloggers have nobody else to focus on now except Obama. He's not only on top, he's the only guy left to talk about! This isn't necessarily the Republican attack machine. And to people who say: "Get over it. Obama won." There's more to it than that. Since when do "leaders" or a "President elect" get a free ride or a honeymoon period?

Peach, you're a disgrace to everything you promote. You destroyed any opportunity to have a meaningful discussion in this thread.

However, Obama IS a Marxist. Stating the desire to spread the wealth around and expressing disappointment that the Constitution does not provide for wealth redistribution speaks for itself. His past friendships only strengthen the argument.

GC, moderation is what got the GOP in the mess it's in now. You have no clue about the principles that built the Republican Party, and Goldwater would not appreciate you besmirching his name.

Here's another "I wonder":
I wonder how many of these "Billionaires for Obama" (Warren Buffett, Craig Newmark, Bill Gates...) and "conservative" luminaries (yucko the clown for example) that endorsed Obama are really for Obama's type change or were there just long enough to flip the neocons. And how long will they stick around. The Soros/Brzezinski type are there for the long haul of course. Erick, there's a list for you. You could start with Christopher Buckley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwItrtgzq0g

Donkey Kong
That guy David Cameron is a sick joke. Fascist all the way. "Everyone is playing the same tune." And this is a good thing? Where do they find these people? This war is still a good idea? Yeah right. This whole speech is dumbed down for first graders and they all sit there and smile and clap. Disgusting. "European regulators"? "If we fail..." more BS fear tactics. We've got the same stripe of "conservative" running things here. Fascist globalists. Where's the control of immigration in the UK? Nowhere. Problems with the UK police state? Nah. Not an issue because we never bring it up.

Socialism, National Socialists or International Socialism, stands for the Government rule through intrusive regulations of the economy and the society in general. Both used the iron will of the government to push an agenda that did not include true economic or social freedom. Congressman Broun is right, Obama is taking us much further down the road to serfdom than we have ever gone before. This could be a real problem guys.

You're absolutely right about the "National Socialists". At least those were the talking points. The Communists were clearly the "International Socialists". And p.s. Socialism sux.

GA Values wrote:

"Hope he runs against Johnny the Socialist in 2 years, He’ll be a great Senator."

I had high hopes for him too, until the same day I got a mailer decrying the terrible bailout from Broun I went to a fund raiser only to hear him appeal for the attendees to vote for Saxby Chambliss, the biggest socialist in the Georgia Delegation and one who voted for that terrible bailout.

I like his performance so far, but if he is going to have any credibility at all with me, he is going to have to distance himself from the Saxby/necon/Bush element of the party.

I even broke my pledge to quit giving money to Republicans.......not to mention went against the powers that be around here to support Broun.

It was not clear from the article what Paul had to say about false conservatives and Republicans to get an idea whom he was blasting.

"German Industrialists put the National Socialists in power in the 30’s. It is not suprising that the American Big Bussiness is putting an international Socialist into power in 2008."

Christ on a Crutch. I get so damned tired of hearing about this. There were NO more emphatic anti-Communists in Germany than the Nazis on their rise to power. They believed in the purity of the village against the corruption of the town. They embraced to poetry and folklore what country is to music.

Please, for the love of God, find an appropriate analogy to slur us with. Call me a flaming queer or a hippie douche or a closet Communist or whatever else makes you happy.

But it is getting really fscking irritating to have the Nazis continually misplaced on the political spectrum. They may have used the name "National Socialists," but it was at a time that every part was "worker" this or "socialist" that.

Look, the Soviets were really super, duper bad, right? So bad that we fought not just one four-year year but a multi-decade campaign with sparked hot wars in Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, and other places, right?

Okay, I'm done. Special place in hell for people that make arguments without even understanding their terms properly.

Romeguy-

Sure it does - 70 years ago the Nazis invaded Berlin, shattered the glass of Jewish-owned stores. That is pretty creepy in light of just electing our first Socilaist president raised by a communist mother... but he is GREAT because he is BLACK and we made History!!!

Pass the fried chicken & watermelon people and break open the Colt 45! Oh and let's all buy a pack of Newport cigarettes too while we are at it!

Oh and by all means break out James Brown's Say It Loud!!!

Goldwater
I don't even Know Broun's specifics but I'm into the "loyal opposition" idea. I don't think either one of us is the type who would roll over for Obama in a newborn spirit of change or co-operation. Fact is, Obama's whole life has been surrounded by left wing radical extremists and Ivy League elitists. Looks like some of the people criticizing Bush and the neocons may be the strongest voices against Obama's brand of change too. Doesn't look like any of them are concerned about Constitutional government.

We need clear direction not moderation.
We will continue to lose if we are liberal light.
Bush on economic and foriegn policy issues was the most moderate GOP president since Nixon/Ford. We do need that again.
