Broun for Minority Leader!
“during his first speech since he was re-elected in Georgia’s 10th Congressional District.”
And this year will, hopefully, be his first year getting sworn in.
Paul is right on the money.
Yes, years of Republican leadership has left a sense of complacency and entitlement. I’ve even heard some of those fat and happy Republicans blew through their entire office budgets in 1/2 the year. I can only believe that our Founding Fathers would be appalled at Congressman who feel they can take the people’s money and spend it on their campaigns.
When I was young, and worked on the Hill, I remember there were conservative congressman who would return some of their unspent office budgets every year. It didn’t amount to a whole lot in the big scheme of things, but it was a matter of principle – practice what you preach. We’re a long way from that.
But I digress, it’s always easy to be a “conservative”, once your own election is secure and you’re in the minority party.
Broun may be right in this one speech, but he’s still a stark raving mad lunatic who is an embarrassment to our entire state.
If being a stark raving mad lunatic were disqualification for office, then there would be no one in government.
PAUL BROUN is our ROCK ( solid) STAR!!!!
I tried to tell you guys way back when Charlie Norwood’s seat opened up PAUL BROUN is the REAL DEAL.
You guys said… ” Who is Paul Broun, Peachy?”
You mocked me for promoting him… Now you know what I know!
Jim Whitehead would have NEVER joined the Resistance! We actually have a LEADER in PAUL BROUN. Thank You Jesus!
What a crock of crap! But then again, I’ve come to expect nothing less from Georgia’s Republican Party. A bunch of dittoheads just puking out the “Fox News” talking points of the day. Oh well.
NOPE!
We are now ” The Resistance” and we shall prevail!
Is Paul Broun related to Eva Braun?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_Braun
Did he deliver that speech wearing his tin foil hat? Idiot.
Maybe this is where the family fortune began. Inquiring minds want to know.

Right on the money,
German Industrialists put the National Socialists in power in the 30′s. It is not suprising that the American Big Bussiness is putting an international Socialist into power in 2008.
#1 I love Paul Broun.
#2 Here’s another good conservative for you:
hmmm… the code didn’t seem to work. Let me try again:
Nope. Sorry folks. Here’s the link:

Speaking of Nazis – in BERLIN ( Obama went there you know)
Check out what happened 70 years ago today:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:1938_Interior_of_Berlin_synagogue_after_Kristallnacht.jpg
In 2006 the American people gave the Republican party a warning…that they need to moderate.
They did not listen. 2008 gave D.C. to the Democratic party entirely. Sure there is no filibuster proof majority…but considering the maturity of the Senate there will probably not be too many problems.
Paul Broun represents the problems with the party. He is an extremist. I am sure the people of the 10th will continue to elect him. Perhaps a decent opponent could shake him a little, but his last opponent, Bobby Saxon, was the worst candidate I have seen in the 10th since Barry Irwin.
There will be no leadership positions for Broun in the next Congress. He is unable to raise the money to buy political capital and the party leaders are likely to start moderating their talking points with the hopes of getting anything through committee or even passed.
Furthermore, the Godwin’s theory string on PP was ironic…considering all of the conservatives in this room that think the handling of the current economic situation is “Nazi” like…but these same people remained silent during the human rights abuses and blatant usurpation of new power for the executive in the past 7 years.
Curious, being principled people and all, will the Doug Deals and Bill Simons of this world retain their beliefs of strong executive power and various privilege of the executive branch?
Probably not, but we’ll see what Fox News and Rush Limbaugh tell them to believe.
A few points:
1.) The Constitution does not state that this is to be a capitalist nation, nor does it prescribe any other governing economic theory.
2.) The Constitution is a harmonious blend of governing principles from governments all over the world and throughout history with the intent (inherent in the documents flexibility) to allow the same freedoms to exist in the future of our governing bodies. In other words, the American way is to take good ideas from over time in all the corners of the world…and adapt them, if possible, to perfect our nation.
3.) Baby-Boomers, raise your hands. The deficit and current situation is your fault. My generation paid for our wars. It is so like you to put the debt on the backs of your children. It is disgusting.
4.) This is a secular state.
5.) Broun does not know what Marxism or Socialism…or any of those other -isms are. He just wants to scare people into supporting him.
H2O,
The Boomers are TOAST for the tripling of the debt under Bush – which they cheered on – doesn’t even include the cost of the Bailouts past Fannie and Freddie.
THe GOP Boomers never did pay any attention to the lament that the debt was going to be born by their children, for they figured THEY would escape this life in the luxury that they are accustomed to and DESERVE. Touhg luck to their kiddies!
JUSTICE is coming. The unfunded bailouts will wipe out through hyperinflation what the market crash did not decimate. Most Boomers will have to work until they keel over.
Boomers will pay dearly for the WORST POTUS in USA history, George W. Bush.
Maybe they will blame the GOPcheerleaders over at RedState. You know, the ones pushing Saxby Chambliss, the biggest SOCIALIST US SENATOR Georgia has ever seen.
They have given up debating us on whether they are conservative or not. Definitively they are not. Their only ‘logic’ now is that their man is “less liberal” than the Democrat, a man who has at least not sold out Georgia.
Does today’s date have any special historical significance? Icarus do you know?
We need clear direction not moderation.
We will continue to lose if we are liberal light.
Bush on economic and foriegn policy issues was the most moderate GOP president since Nixon/Ford. We do need that again.
Goldwater
I don’t even Know Broun’s specifics but I’m into the “loyal opposition” idea. I don’t think either one of us is the type who would roll over for Obama in a newborn spirit of change or co-operation. Fact is, Obama’s whole life has been surrounded by left wing radical extremists and Ivy League elitists. Looks like some of the people criticizing Bush and the neocons may be the strongest voices against Obama’s brand of change too. Doesn’t look like any of them are concerned about Constitutional government.
Romeguy-
Sure it does – 70 years ago the Nazis invaded Berlin, shattered the glass of Jewish-owned stores. That is pretty creepy in light of just electing our first Socilaist president raised by a communist mother… but he is GREAT because he is BLACK and we made History!!!
Pass the fried chicken & watermelon people and break open the Colt 45! Oh and let’s all buy a pack of Newport cigarettes too while we are at it!
Oh and by all means break out James Brown’s Say It Loud!!!

Wir mussen die fundie-en ausrotten.
“German Industrialists put the National Socialists in power in the 30’s. It is not suprising that the American Big Bussiness is putting an international Socialist into power in 2008.”
Christ on a Crutch. I get so damned tired of hearing about this. There were NO more emphatic anti-Communists in Germany than the Nazis on their rise to power. They believed in the purity of the village against the corruption of the town. They embraced to poetry and folklore what country is to music.
Please, for the love of God, find an appropriate analogy to slur us with. Call me a flaming queer or a hippie douche or a closet Communist or whatever else makes you happy.
But it is getting really fscking irritating to have the Nazis continually misplaced on the political spectrum. They may have used the name “National Socialists,” but it was at a time that every part was “worker” this or “socialist” that.
Look, the Soviets were really super, duper bad, right? So bad that we fought not just one four-year year but a multi-decade campaign with sparked hot wars in Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, and other places, right?
Okay, I’m done. Special place in hell for people that make arguments without even understanding their terms properly.
Hope he runs against Johnny the Socialist in 2 years, He’ll be a great Senator..
“Special place in hell for people that make arguments without even understanding their terms properly.”
…sitting next to you with Bill Simon on the other side?
Icarus:
Do you know what today’s significance is? I wish someone would say what it is.
The day Paul Broun gets sworn in?
The day James Mills gets an opponant?
The day the GA Gang had Toby Keith as a guest host?

I had high hopes for him too, until the same day I got a mailer decrying the terrible bailout from Broun I went to a fund raiser only to hear him appeal for the attendees to vote for Saxby Chambliss, the biggest socialist in the Georgia Delegation and one who voted for that terrible bailout.
I like his performance so far, but if he is going to have any credibility at all with me, he is going to have to distance himself from the Saxby/necon/Bush element of the party.
I even broke my pledge to quit giving money to Republicans…….not to mention went against the powers that be around here to support Broun.
It was not clear from the article what Paul had to say about false conservatives and Republicans to get an idea whom he was blasting.
odenseye2k
You’re absolutely right about the “National Socialists”. At least those were the talking points. The Communists were clearly the “International Socialists”. And p.s. Socialism sux.
Not sure where this fits in but it seems sorta “international”.
The Great Global Social Security Giveaway?
http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2003/tst010603.htm
Socialism, National Socialists or International Socialism, stands for the Government rule through intrusive regulations of the economy and the society in general. Both used the iron will of the government to push an agenda that did not include true economic or social freedom. Congressman Broun is right, Obama is taking us much further down the road to serfdom than we have ever gone before. This could be a real problem guys.
And people wonder why GOPeach gets banned from here…
Peachy your white hood is showing
Donkey Kong
That guy David Cameron is a sick joke. Fascist all the way. “Everyone is playing the same tune.” And this is a good thing? Where do they find these people? This war is still a good idea? Yeah right. This whole speech is dumbed down for first graders and they all sit there and smile and clap. Disgusting. “European regulators”? “If we fail…” more BS fear tactics. We’ve got the same stripe of “conservative” running things here. Fascist globalists. Where’s the control of immigration in the UK? Nowhere. Problems with the UK police state? Nah. Not an issue because we never bring it up.
