From Tom Crawford:
Chambliss said Friday the GOP presidential nominee and possibly Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will campaign for him in the runoff election with Democrat Jim Martin; Martin has asked president-elect Barack Obama to make a campaign appearance as well but has received no confirmation yet; runoff election will be held Dec. 2 because Chambliss did not get 50 percent plus one vote in the general election

I think Palin would be a better choice!
Peach -
In North Georgia, probably. McCain will likely do better in the South near the military bases. Of course, that may invite uncomfortable “chickenhawk” comparisons to Saxby …
“…because Chambliss did not get 50 percent plus one vote in the general election.”
Uh, actually it’s because neither of the top two candidates received 50-percent, plus one vote, not just that Saxby fell short.
This is a pet peeve, but why do people find it necessary to further define majority, and then do it incorrectly. Majority does not need to be further defined as “50% plus one”, plus that is not what it means.
If 3 people are voting, under the “50% plus one”, the only majority is 3-0, since 2-1 is not greater than 1.5+1.
Someone please learn some vocabulary and be comfortable with the word majority, or perhaps event he expression more than half the votes.
Okay, vent off.
odinseye2k –
I- don’t know ….
I think military bases would like Palin better!

Is this part of the operation you are using for Saxby? Is GoPeach in charge?

RedState is pleased to announce it is engaging in a special project: Operation Leper.
We’re tracking down all the people from the McCain campaign now whispering smears against Governor Palin to Carl Cameron and others. Michelle Malkin has the details.
We intend to constantly remind the base about these people, monitor who they are working for, and, when 2012 rolls around, see which candidates hire them. Naturally then, you’ll see us go to war against those candidates.
It is our expressed intention to make these few people political lepers.
They’ll just have to be stuck at CBS with Katie’s failed ratings.
Initial list:
Nicolle Wallace
Steve Schmidt
Note: I’ve deleted McKinnon. I trust the source, but I’m getting very strong denials from other people I trust and McKinnon is very adamantly denying it. We’ve confirmed the other two.
——————————————————————————–
P.S. – Did I ever tell you how RedState was able to stock Gov. Palin’s campaign plane with twenty of these?. We were glad to. And we were glad not to mention it at the time. We are rooting for Sarah Palin. Don’t make us add you to our list. Do you really want to be next to Kathleen Parker in the leper colony?

Erick
So you’re the guy that invented the identity crisis?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Erikson
One more question Erick, did you have your GI JOE Halloween costume on when you wrote this post?
Game, I wonder if that guy was also the inventor of the Homburger?
Doug Deal
Watch what you say Erick could put you on the list!
Erick
The list sounds like something the communist party would do. Does the RED in REDSTATE mean you guys support the communist party?
I just thought it was an amusing aside. But don’t forget to go after Fox News. They dumped on Ralph Nader for criticizing “The One” and all his corporate connections. Jeez. If you’re going to go after Ralph Nader maybe wait til he brings up socialism. (Is he a socialist??)
I think it would be very interesting to see how much of a draw Governor Palin would be with the main event over. It could really give us a sense of what the future holds for her.
Erick and the rest of the HYPOCRITES supporting Saxby needs to read this:
http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=13515
“The problem is …an entrenched Party and Movement support system that mostly supports itself, an echo chamber that has rotted our intellect, a grassroots that is ill-equipped to shape the Republican Party, and a Republican Party that has replaced strategy with tactics, substance with marketing….These problems can be fixed, but the fix is not cosmetic. The rot is deep.”
“These guys are delusional if they think the problem was an insufficient number of Red State mugs on the Palin plane and inadequate fealty to the cause. The problem is not inadequate adherence to unnamed “principles,” the problem is that they SIMPLY HAVE NO PRINCIPLES. ”
“The frenetic nonsense of the last few years has gotten them nowhere, and talking about principles is pointless when you have none. The party of limited government talks a good game, but owns the $500 billion dollar deficit this year and $5 trillion in debt from the past two administrations. You don’t get to pretend you are the party of limited government when your crowning achievement of the last eight years is the Schiavo legislation. I suspect the only principles they honestly have left are the ones they know are so repellent to the public at large that they refuse to voice them.”
“It isn’t just that many of the folks leading the purge disagree with George Will and Peggy Noonan and Daniel Larison and Sullivan and Ron Paul about the direction of the future GOP- they want them destroyed for suggesting there needs to be a debate. That is how dead the party is…..”
You IMPOSTORS are not even willing to debate on the stated PRINCIPLES of the party, you are too busy trying to drive the folks who built the party out, even now campaigning for a BACK STABBER who is the poster child of WHO DESTROYED THE GOP.
Just tell McCain to stay home. When I pulled the lever next to his name I wasn’t voting for him anyway.
Does Shep Smith wear eye shadow?
Indy, you and your ilk need to go staright to H#ll without passing go. Nobody believes Martin will be the G-d send you claim.
Indy,
There is a distinct line between adhering 100% of the time to one’s “principles of governing” and the reality of what will come to pass if we don’t have ONE way out of having 100% of government held by ONE political party.
Meaning, if the Dems (OR, if the GOP was in charge) took bulletproof control of the US Senate and held onto the House, along with an agent of “change” in the White House, it would not be good for ANY of us.
Do you remember what happened when the GOP held complete control in this decade? we got absolute sh*t.
The Dems cannot improve on that condition, and will only have the ability to do a worse screwing of America.
You cannot allow ONE PARTY to control all of government. That should be your one overriding, topmost “principle” that supercedes all other “principles” you’ve EVER held.
Bowersville – I stand behind the….
Contract for America
GOP Platform
I am a Republican, because……
I have principles, clearly stated.
Principles your guy has violated at every turn.
Get the #$%$ out of my party.
Indy,
You do not want one party to rule this country. THAT is the principle I have taken from seeing what happened under the GOP run White House-House-Senate triumverate.
Learn from our mistakes, but don’t make a BIGGER one.
So, Indy, how does Martin add to your party? The Repukes have lost their way including Chambliss. But don’t give me Martin the Pelosi alibi and rubber stamp.
Now, when you are prepared to tell me to get out of your party, it doesn’t belong to you.
The Libertarians SUCK! for their very recklessness of my well being, so get over it and get out!
Bill S.
WHAT reality?
The reality of having the old Dixiecrats or Southern Democrats standing against the excesses of the urban Democrats worked fine before.
The GOP is no longer needed.
The fine PRINCIPLES it had lie abandoned and you are willing to do NOTHING to bring the perps in line.
The Dems will continue to run more and more moderates like Jim Webb, Mark Warner, and John Barrow with your corrupt little gang that hijacked the GOP left whining, just like right now.
We are either going to get the GOP back to its principles or put it out of its self inflicted misery.
Gosh Bill,
The divided government pitch is one that I have often made.
It is excellent.
The problem is that conservatism won’t get over Saxby/Bush/neocons until it clearly repudiates them.
This run off is that breaking point.
This TIME is that breaking point. The GOP will never win again, divided like it is, and the folks who believe in its principles are saying “HELL NO” to those who hijacked the party.
Reform or DIE.
NOW.
Indy, as soon as you get your finger from down your upchuck throat, let me know because you sir are full of it.
You ain’t no Republican or a conservative, you are a liberal idiot.
Bowersille,
Martin adds to my party, the GOP, something akin to an oncologist’s scapel. Saxby is a cancer.
Martin is a tool, one that will be around a while.
GOP partisans were saying the same bullshit about John Barrow and he has proven to be much more conservative than Saxby – He refused to vote for the bailout.
In that instance, Barrow was running against another GOP fake, Max Burns. We conservatives pulled that race out for Barrow and were the margin of victory twice. Now the whack job branch of the GOP cannot dynamite the man out.
NOW is the time to decide. As it stands the GOP is dead as a national party and in serious jeopardy even here. You need to escape the bonds of denial. We don’t enjoy jumping ship, but will do so given a GOP “choice” like Burns or Chambliss.
Keep this crap up and you lose 1/2 the party. The part you keep is stinking and rotting.
Bowersville,
Read “I am a Republican, because……”
I have.
I am a Republican because of all of those promises. (Not to mention about $10 grand in contributions.)
What are you?
Bill:
Your point is well taken, and nominal consolation with regard to Dems falling short of 60 in the Senate.
I haven’t been in this venue long enough to know your and other’s position on the Senate rules change “nuclear” option being discussed in 2005-2006, but I trust you opposed it.
Care to share which unit of Georgia government, the Governorship, Senate or House, you will advocate be for Democratic control?
What am I? Well, just damn, I ain’t pushing Martin, well how about you? All I’ve heard out of you is condemning Saxby, well how about the rest of us? If you want to vote for Martin, have at it, but don’t condemn Saxby trying to get my vote, tell me something good about Martin and why you support him. You can’t if you are conservative.
It’s not time to punish all of us for the mistakes of a few, get it?
No, its TIME to draw the line on apostates.
Saxby punished ALL with his bailout votes.
Martin will be hard pressed to vote for wild spending and bailouts after this campaign. He will SEE what happened to Saxby and especially Cleland, and won’t vote against the people.
If he does out mission is accomplished and he will be gone.
You just don’t GET IT, do you?
The Republican party is about to vanish. We, the REAL CONSERVATIVES, will either retake this party by flushing Saxby or we will conclude that you are too corrupt to save.
Indy,
From your Balloon-Juice link: “Any candidate with real intelligence, judgment, and expertise would not support the policies of the Republican party platform, plain and simple.”
Hmmm…so, this guy is saying that the entire Republican platform is wrong.
Have you actually read the national platform? Can you tell me if the platform is at least 50% out of synch with what you think the “principles” of the GOP are?
Dave,
The governorship of Georgia is held right now by a Democrat. Though he SAYS he is a “Republican,” he does not govern like one.
Indy can’t tell anything but how good that Democratic liberal kool-aid tastes.
Indy is a Democrat and a liar for trying to portray himself as an independent.
Bill Simon – This years platform does not reflect principles like the Contract with America and the creed “I am a Republican, because….”
The latter document says I AM a Republican and it says you AREN’T because you embrace the opposite agenda.
READ it and get back to me.
hahahaahahhaa…..Bowersville.
You are condemned by your words and associations with the biggest liberal to ever serve as a US Senator.
HAAHAAHA my arse. I’m not condemned by my words, Jim Martin is a LIBERAL adding to Harry Reid and the Democrats.
Such was spewed about John Barrow before conservatives saw HIM elected and Barrow voted AGAINST Saxby’s socialist bailout.
Can you take a moment and explain to dumb ole me what John Barrow has to to do with this argument?
Now is your conservative Democrat Jim Marshall prepared to go on the record against any bailouts by the federal government? Why h#ll no.
Indy,
As I said before in another thread, the vote for Saxby is not a GOP principle-based one. It is a vote for survival of this country.
A vote for the survival of this country ain’t a vote for a man who put her an ADDITIONAL $6 trillion in debt, $12 trillion if Fannie and Freddie debt assumption is included.
Indy,
So, what you are saying is that had Saxby not voted the way he did, all these bills would not have passed?
Indy, who pushed Fannie and Freddie? Surely it wasn’t Chris Dodd and Barnie Frank and all the other Democrats hollering racist and Republicans don’t care about the poor.
C’mon, Martin won’t do any different.
Fannie and/or Freddie gave lavishly to Saxby Chambliss. Don’t make me look up which.
Saxby has been up there 14 years.
Saxby is up there for Saxby.
Time for him to come home.
“It is a vote for survival of this country.”
Nothing like a little hyperbole eh Bill?
So, I guess you’re anti-American, eh, Rugby? Figures.
Rugby hates America, apple pies and his mom.
And there is never ever ever hyperbole on Peach Pundit.
I also hate freedom and morality.
I love American, apple pies, and Rugby’s mom.
Icarus,
I suppose you saw where AIG has run through the $123 billion and now the tab is $150 billion, with the Fed buying more worthless assets and lowering interest rates on the bail-out funds.
WHERE are they going to stop?
I can tell you – Default on the Debt of the USA.
Full faith and credit – HA!
The apple pie is full of worms…..read that corrupt financiers….
A billion here, a billion there. Really.
To put it all in the right perspective, $800 billion amounts to a mere 0.08% of $1 quadrillion.
Indy, stop getting all excited about a mere 0.08%. It’s nothing. It’s less than a drop in the bucket.
- 45 million to Icarus.
