Lemme know how that works out once the US Treasury bankrupts the companies and buys them for pennies on the dollar.

John,

As a practitioner of Galtism, I'm not spending anymore or helping to do anything positive for the economy or the United States for the next four years. Right now, the best thing we can do is sit on our hands, stop creating wealth(*), and deny it to Obama to spread around.

(*) Yes, I know, only Keyesians thing buying drinks stimulate the economy. I'm not investing domestically either.

(Edited to add, Oh, I see you were referring to Doug's comment. my bad).

Saxby was making bad decisions before he hired Charlie Harmon. That being said, Saxby's worst bad decision is still a lot better than Martin's best good decision.

That's if you think raising taxes is a good decision, then Martin is your man.

It seems quite a WAR is breaking out all over regarding who qualifies as a REPUBLICAN and a CONSERVATIVE.

How is it, Erick, that you have launched some sort of witch hunt against Republicans who won't support Palin and NONE against a Republican that eviscerated every line of the Republican party platform?

What ARE YOU?

The standards of the Republican party clearly put you outside of the Republican party.

What are ANY of you?

You ain't conservatives.

And you ain't Republicans.

Give me your list of guiding principles that prove me wrong - one that your leaders Bush and Saxby have not violated and which has been promulgated by the party.

I am waiting.
Read Sullivan, Yglesias

3-Jack,

Is the prospect of avoiding having a Great Society II for the next 30 years a good enough reason to hold your nose and vote for Saxby?

offering to buy everyone in the state a round of drinks if he is wrong.
A drink of water.

Still, by 2010, that may be a pretty major feat.

John,

This is not a mere write-in campaign. Farris has personally guarenteed a landslide victory against Johnny, offering to buy everyone in the state a round of drinks if he is wrong.

Quite a bold statement, that I have been trying to talk him out of, but you know how confident and stubborn R.B. Farris can be.

bill, it means that conservatives have no candidate in the race leaving only the fear factor as a motivation to vote against martin. that's not enough for me to hold my nose again while voting for another rino.

imho, many conservatives are tired of simply voting against the liberal agenda. the gop needs to put forth candidates running for something instead of against the other party.

Chris, the only votes that count in a runoff are those for the top two choices in the first election, all other votes are not counted.

Rome,

I think the majority requirement is one of the best features of Georgia elections. It actually allows voices for third parties. Buckley can have his say without his presense hurting the side he is more closely aligned with.

If the requirement was reduced to say 45%, voting for a third party would be like doing so in the Presidential election. Harmful to your own side and helpful to the party that is united with a pluralty.

Look at it this way, if you go to the extreme of eliminating a runoff altogether, and three candidates are running, 2 reasonable moderates and one Hughie Long type populist. If the reasonable candidates split the reasonable vote 33%-33%, the dangerous candidate would only need 34% to win the election. Even if the runoff would be 66%-34%.

Every election for every position should require a majority, except at-large multiple candidate elections.
