Riots coming to a Metro Atlanta community near you!

Gotta love it!

Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.

Democratic strategists and advocates for black voters say they understand officers wanting to keep the peace, but caution that excessive police presence could intimidate voters.

“Advocates for white voters” had little to say because they would have to be racist for only representing the interests of one segment of the population.

  1. If, God forbid, something like this happens here in Atlanta, I blame Jeff Dickerson ’cause he said on the Georgia Gang that racism was the only thing that could stop Obama.

  2. odinseye2k says:

Yeah, because Obama supporters *haven’t* been getting their car windows smashed, signs stolen, harassed for being anywhere near a McCain-Palin rally …

Or for that matter, reporters who have been unlucky enough to come close to the scrum.

Ugliness begets ugliness, kids. If this election (probably chances are past) was clean and honorable, there’d be no problems here.

And AtlCon, if you’re being intimidated, I’d be the first one to walk you to the polls if I knew you. I can’t provide much muscle, but I’d try to help out.

  3. odinseye2k says:

So again, why are we singling out a single population?

We could just as easily write about increasing Klan membership and / or activity. Or potential trailer park riots.

  4. OleDirtyBarrister says:

    Stock up on ammo!

I wonder if Bob Barr’s buddy in Smyrna will run a pre-election gun sale.

I prefer a 12 gauge with extended tube magazine, rotating slugs and buckshot, the old “buck and ball.”

  5. odinseye2K,

Talk to Jeff Dickerson, David Gergen and the legion of others who keep saying “only racism will prevent an Obama victory.” It’s these guys and others like them who are expecting African-Americans to riot of Obama loses. Of course leftists like Sandra Bernhardt (sp?) expected Sarah Palin to be gang raped by black men when she visited NY. Thankfully Palin’s SNL visit went off without a hitch.

To be sure there are redneck wackos out there but the American left is doing plenty to insult African-Americans.

  6. griftdrift says:

Actually what Dickerson said was given all the circumstances such as an extremely unpopular incumbent, tanking economy, etc. it wouldn’t be this close.

Actually it looks like he might have been prophetic.

  7. griftdrift says:

“Actually what Dickerson said was given all the circumstances such as an extremely unpopular incumbent, tanking economy, etc. it wouldn’t be this close.”

This should have been – Actually what Dickerson said was given all the circumstances such as an extremely unpopular incumbent, tanking economy, etc. if this were any other election it wouldn’t be this close.

  8. AtlConservative says:

Thanks for the offer odinseye2k. I was simply making a point that I should feel safe to go to the polls. Cops do not cause intimidation, but someone seeing the McCain sticker on my car…. Well, that may be dangerous!

  9. Bentley says:

The real problem is that all of the left-wing-nut media have declared Obama the winner already. So in the event that McCain wins for any reason – even if people like him more – this becomes another “stolen election.” And of course they will say it was stolen due to racism.

The Democrats are thieves of the soul. Regardless of what you say or do, your motives are always evil to them. Bring it on!

  10. odinseye2k says:

“The real problem is that all of the left-wing-nut media have declared Obama the winner already.”

All those filthy liberal polls and data too. If the election was held today, it is all but certain Obama would win.

Of course, the election will not be held today. Ergo, no one is taking anything for granted.

  11. atlantaman says:

You’ve got the most inexperienced, and perhaps liberal, candidate from either Party in the last 100 years and if he loses it will be because of racism.

Of course it doesn’t help the discourse in this country when you’ve got newspapers making ridiculous statement like calling someone a socialist is a racist term.

    http://voices.kansascity.com/node/2493

Let’s be honest, if there is an Obama victory, this country will rapidly propel into some sort of Orwellian society where calling Obama anything but “The Great One” will get you arrested by the Racism Guard.

The Fairness Doctrine will knock out all opposing views of “The Great One” and anyone who opposes his views will be attacked as an “attacker”. Your job credentials, divorce records, medical records, address, and credit history will be released to the Fairness Bureau, for distribution to the television networks, so the public may either agree with or stone the accuser.

The 1st Amendment will gradually start to be called the Fairness Amendment.

  12. odinseye2k says:

Wow, that is a weird connection. I don’t think I’d ever consider “socialist” as a racist codeword. A braindead trope that goes back to McCarthy (since you can’t call anyone a Commie any more as they are our largest trading partners) perhaps, but not even imaginably racist.

I do look forward to eight years of Obama Derangement Syndrome, though.

  13. Quick, someone better tell Senator Chuck Hagel, Warren Buffett, and General Colin Powell that if we elect Senator Obama the:

“country will rapidly propel into some sort of Orwellian society where calling Obama anything but “The Great One” will get you arrested by the Racism Guard.”

They must not have gotten the memo.

  14. atlantaman says:

As long as you support “The Great One” there are no problems as you are not a racist. They are good men who agree with “The Great One”, never attacking his views, only attacking the “attackers”. If you turn in Racists to the Department of Hope and Change, you’ll will be viewed favorably and probably advance in the leadership of your local union.

Since “The Great One” has our best interests at heart there will be no reason to disagree with him, you’ll only be stopping the progress of society.

If labeled a racist, you will be forced to wear the letter “R”, be denied the right to vote, and ultimately be sent to Racist Colonies.

  15. atlantaman says:

If you want to see something straight out of “1984” check out this Senator’s views on the “Fairness” Doctrine. All I want to know is what the hell kind of “board” will have to be developed to decide what kind of speech needs “fairness” and how do you balance it?

Anybody got any good ideas on where I could safely watch the riots in Atlanta on election night? How about the Embassy Suites at Centennial Park, or do you think something a little closer to downtown Peachtree Street? I can’t wait.

  17. Bentley says:

I think the Embassy Suites will be safe, but you will need to be above the tear gas drift line. Tear gas drifts on the wind so you will need to be above a certain floor.

It is hard to calculate but perhaps griftdrift will agree to fart or breathe while standing next to the hotel tomorrow so we can calculate the drift in natural conditions.

That should tell you which floor you need to be above.

    You got IT, Doug!

Y’all remember the questions about plastic caskets stored in S. GA? Well, what about the demise, by Executive Order, of Posse Comitas? These guys are training in Georgia!

According to the Army Times (dated Tuesday, September 30, 2008),

“Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT [Brigade Combat Team] will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.”

The article continued by saying, “But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.

“After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.”

BCT is composed of troops from the 3ID fresh from Iraq. Probably nothing and probably good, but the freakizoids from Planet Zaire are wigging out about this stuff.

“Advocates for white voters” had little to say because they would have to be racist for only representing the interests of one segment of the population.

You morons act like there is no history of slavery of one particular race in this country that is less than 150 years old.

You morons act like black people were not just given the right to vote about 40 years ago or that segregation was still the norm in the South until less than 40 years ago.

You morons act like racist white thugs (many of whom were probably your fathers or grandfathers) were not roaming the South less than 40 years ago bombing black churches and Jewish synagogues and intimidating black voters and anyone who dared speak out in favor of civil rights of black people.

Nothing ever changes does it? Pathetic.

  21. GOPeach says:

I honestly think if Obama looses –
there will be a lot of disappointed people.

They will have to learn to move on like
we all do. Who ever breaks the law will
    be locked up! Period.

If these people commit a felony, they will
never be able to vote again.

  22. Bill Simon says:

What is “pathetic”, Decaturguy, is that people like YOU presume that all white people are the same as those white thugs of 40 years ago.

Not all of the “white people” living during the time of the Jim Crow laws hated blacks. Just the Democrats who ran the South.

  23. Chris says:

rugby, no, just the Republicans who used to be Democrats.

So far Riots on CNN is the best reason given by the right to vote for McCain. At least the TV will be interesting. Anyone got anything better?

  24. bowersville says:

DG, slavery was not in my lifetime, granted segregation was in my lifetime. But this is now, move on for all our sake.

Now before you throw off on my grand father and great grand father, be it known, I’m white and they was poor old white trash coming from Ireland, did the best they could. Never wore a cone on their head, never burned a cross and never owned a slave, unlike the rest of the white guilt trip southern nation.

  25. rugby fan says:

    No not at all.

Just that if you are going to mention that racism and segregation in Dixie was carried out by Democrats (who would largely have no resemblance to contemporary Democrats), it should be noted that those same individuals became Republicans. Those who switched probably did not abandon their racist views when they joined another party.

Moreover, the few Southerners who have racist beliefs this day and age are unlikely to be Democrats, one would have to imagine.

  26. bowersville says:

I recall asking this before and as I remember, I got no answer so I will ask it again.

Who are all these mystery ghost racist that left the Democratic party and went to the Republican party?

I imagined last night in my dreams, but when I woke, Marilyn Monroe was still dead. What’s your point?

  27. bowersville says:

Who at the very least, renounced the organization and apologized for his views?

Hmm, let me think for a moment. Yes it’s coming to me. I have it, Colin Powell.

No, No, No, that’s not right. Barack Obama, yea, that’s it Barack.

  28. Just to name a few:
    Bull Conner: Not a Republican
Al Gore Sr: Voted against Civil Rights bill, never switched parties
All the Segregationist Democrats who ran Georgia: Democrats who didn’t switch parties
George Wallace: Never became a Republican

If massive numbers of racist 60’s Democrats switched and became Republicans then all the Southern States turned Republican at that time right? Funny, that’s not what happened.

  29. rugby fan says:

    bowersville:

    Huh?

    Buzz:

So a lack of a watershed moment universally throughout the South disproves that point?

Interesting theory but you’ll have to do better.

There are a dozen or more ways to poke holes into your theory but I’ll ask you this (somewhat rhetorically): do you genuinely think the Republican Party didn’t actively court Dixiecrats to join their ranks?

You want to keep up the charade that somehow the Southern GOP has none (or few) of the Dixiecrats and their political offspring? Go ahead.

By the way, as an aside, the Wallace family is now proudly Republican.

  30. bowersville says:

Huh? What is you don’t understand and how is it that Buzz will have to do better?

You are the one throwing out race cards with no aces. But I can understand that, since you form your opinions based on dreams and imaginations.

  31. Dave Bearse says:

    Rugby:

I think it’s the relative difference in the numbers of whites versus blacks that makes your statement that the few Southerners who have racist beliefs this day and age are unlikely to be Democrats true. The few black racists are unlikely to be Republican, so the truth in the remark likely lies in the fact the there are 2-3 times as many whites as blacks in the South.

  32. bowersville says:

“,so the truth in the remark likely lies in the fact that there are 2-3 times as many whites as blacks in the South.”

Now tell me what the h#ll that means. Are you saying that because there are more whites in the South, that makes the South more racist? Or are you saying that because there are fewer blacks in the South, that makes the South more racist.

Either way you answer, don’t. Why? because you will prove beyond any reasonable doubt, you are an idiot, which you have already accomplished.

  33. umustbekidding says:

Anyone who riots is just looking for an excuse to steal. Riots draw out the worst people. None of which have any reasoning abilities nor do they have a clue on what they are rioting about. They are thugs and should be arrested and treated as such.

The threats of riots are coming from the democrats. It is just another underhanded currant running through this election. (like ACORN, lawyers and calling folks “racist” if they don’t vote for Obama)
If a black person doesn’t vote for Obama he is called much worst. This just shows that there are many in the black community that will not move on by “judging someone by the content of his charater not the color of his skin.”

I won’t vote for Obama because of his views. My black friends feal the same way. It has nothing to do with his color.

  34. onthefence says:

I think it’s a shame for anyone to even bring up the idea of rioting. It’s ridiculous!!

I do agree that if Obama loses, a lot of people will be disappointed. This is an historic time for many people and it’s important to them for their candidate to win.

In my opinion, rioting will NOT occur. More importantly, the majority of the people that riot tend not to be voters in the first place. Many of these “possible rioters” aren’t even interested in the election because they don’t believe it’s going to change their way of life anyway.

And, if rioting actually occurred, it won’t be on peachtree or in centennial park, most likely at City Hall, the Capitol or in Decatur, College Park, East Point, the SWATs, etc.

    But, again, it’s HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!

  35. Decaturguy says:

If massive numbers of racist 60’s Democrats switched and became Republicans then all the Southern States turned Republican at that time right? Funny, that’s not what happened.

No, most of them waited until about 1994 to officially become Republicans with the exception of some high profile examples like Strom Thurmond. But, in reality, in national elections those old racist white Southern Democrats stopped voting for Democrats in about 1964, but officially remained Democrats because of the local political power structure at home.

But there is no questioning the fact that the racist white Democrats of the ’60’s moved the the Republican Party eventually. If not, how do you expain the fact that racist white voters are now overwelmingly voting for Republicans.

  36. umustbekidding says:

    Decaturguy-
How do you know “racist white voters” vote Republican? My guess is you just think anyone who votes Republican is racist.
With that reasoning I’ll have to assume you vote Democrat because you are on welfare.

  37. atlantaman says:

I was born in 1973 and my grandparents on both sides are immigrants. Why should I be held responsible for slavery and have to hear race baiting rhetoric from a guy like Barack Obama, whose Dad is from Africa and mom is white, and received a scholarship to Harvard University.

If Barack can get a scholarship to Harvard Law, is America really that bad of a place? Can I quite being held responsible for the sins past white people?

It’s always the people who self-righteously accuse everyone of being racist, who can’t seem to let go of skin color.

  38. jkga says:

Where do you get the information that Obama got a scholarship to Harvard? My understanding is he took out loans.

Anyhow, even if he did, it’s over-simplistic to say that proves racism no longer exists in America. These days skin color may no longer prevent people with exceptional skills – like Obama – from being successful. That doesn’t mean there’s a level playing field.

  39. atlantaman says:

Sure there is some racism, but don’t work for the idiots. Go work for a competitor and put them out of business.

Let’s quit giving our children an excuse for failure. If you’ve got less opportunity then some lily-white trust-fund baby, so be it. There is plenty of opportunity for someone willing to work his ass off. In some opportunities there are less opportunities for black people, but in many other instances black people have more opportunity as there are Universities, Fortune 500 companies, and Law Firms searching to have a more diverse mix of employees.

There is never going to be a perfectly level playing field, sometimes black people will have an advantage, sometimes white people will have an advantage and other times Asians and Hispanics will have an advantage.

  40. bowersville says:

Decatur Guy, let’s just face it, you are a racist. No matter how you say it, no matter what you think, Robert KKK Byrd, the cone headed, worthy grand lizard of the Ku Klux Klan is a Democrat. Yet you bring up Strom Thurmond.

No matter how a conservative thinks, in your racist eyes, conservatives are racist. So let’s agree to disagree except on one point, you are a racist with which I agree. Yet, with your prejudice racist eyes, you disagree. So have at it sport, let the left wing keep on teaching you hate. I hope that hatred you have for whitey gets you somewhere.

You are suffering from black guilt and victim hood.

The Tyranny of Low Expectations Vs. H. Algiers

I say, tap Mr. Bill Cosby (A National treasure) into public service making his prescient points regarding responsible fatherhood in every community across the Land.

The issue is SO simple, it makes me want to scream:

Our current racial disparity is not SOLELY a result of racism, rather, it is about changing the terrible cycle of children growing up in single parent homes.

Until this cycle is broken, generations of American youth will be incarcerated, killed, or underutilized. This fact is tantamount to Stage IV cancer, it will kill the US.

We all know kids from impoverished, single-parent homes are more susceptible to drug abuse, crime, gangs (as a substitute for ANY family), etc. Our jails and prisons are full of our hope for the future gone awry.

Not a bleeding heart, here, some kids (very few) are ‘bad seeds’, most are not. Why then, do we see jails/prisons full of African Americans?

Anyone who believes the current jail/prison demographic resulted SOLELY from racial profiling is a racist, at worst; or simply unable to accept the hard truth, at best.

Kids with only one parent, who is usually poorly educated, barely making a living, are starting out way behind. The complex task of child rearing cannot fall onto one person. This is a set-up for failure.

So many studies show that the most successful kids have smart parents. As in TWO people. And this GOP’er could care less if those TWO people are of the same sex, BTW.

People here have firsthand knowledge of this, and they have to be so tired, fed up with the never ending cyle that is destroying our social fabric. Judges, do not give up hope.

Nowadays, one youthfull misstep, much less a big mistake, makes it SO hard for a person to compete, to thrive, in their twenties. Drug Courts work well, at least there is a lifeline for kids that may be saved.

The African Amercian/Hispanic school age population is among the fastest growing demographic in Georgia.

This is the largest single issue, IMHO, confronting Georgians today. We’ll get through the $2Bn deficit, water woes, transpo issues, and even incorporation.

This is NOT a Caucasion problem, it is an American problem. This cycle shall Master Black Amercia until the male African American community looks itself in the mirror and says:

No Job, No Kids, No Way!
