Where Saxby Chambliss gets his money::

Agri Business—-$1,368,000 Banks, Insurance, Real Estate—-$1,332,000 Lawyers & Individual Lobbyist——$641,000 Misc Business —-$679,000 Other ——$606,000..

The Agi Business got a gift of $20 billion waste from Saxby’s Farm Bill. The Banks, Real Estate & Lawyers just got a $2 TRILLION gift from the Bail Out the Banks act which Saxby & Johnny voted for. Not a bad return on your money.

slyram, you said, "is Jones upset that the Democrat Party treated him like Ugly Betty for voting for President Bush. Why can Jim Martin vote for John Edwards and Jim Marshall support Bush policies that McCain admits were questionable and the Democrats run behind them like Dr. McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy but Vernon Jones got shamed for being bipartisan?"

I don't know what VJ kool-aid YOU were drinking but the Democratic party did not reject him because he voted for Bush twice. If you knew anything about Vernon Jones, or lived under his "rule" in DeKalb county (which rejected Vernon in the primary!), you would know why he was treated so poorly.

The man is an ego-maniac who acted like he was elected King of Dekalb, ran the County Board meetings like they were hazing rituals, and on MULTIPLE occasions tried to physically intimidate women and older people who opposed him. I witnessed him not-so-subtly threaten both Jane Kidd and labor leaders at party meetings before the primary. That kind of behavior is UNCALLED for, and it certainly turned most in the Democratic party against him.

Jim Martin, on the other hand, is a kind, decent human being...something neither Vernon nor Saxby could claim. He won't always vote the way liberals want him to, but he'll be honest about that, and he'll hear you out....especially when he disagrees. We heard this same "Atlanta liberal" talk in 2006, and Martin still got more votes than Mark Taylor in EVERY county in GA. There's a lot to be said for decency, which is why Democrats united behind Martin in the first place.

As for Saxby, I don' t know why he's acting like he's all independent now. He ran promising us that he'd basically do what Bush told him in 2002, and he lived up to the promise. Kinda sucks that being Bush's butt boy in the Senate isn't helpful in 2008, but he certainly kept his promise to GA voters who elected him in 2002.

There is a big debate in Perry tonight at the Georgia State Fairgrounds. Senator Saxby Chambliss v. Democrat Jim Martin, and Congressman Jim Marshall v. General Rick Goddard. I can’t make it because I will be watching Survivor Africa, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, ER and CSI Las Vegas.

But then again, the event in Perry will produce the same drama. Jim Marshall faces Survivor because he is trying to outwit and outlast his other opponent, Obama supporters. Can he get those polls closed on election day before they/we discover that his “Democrat” Immunity Idol is actually fake—“Jim, the tribe has spoken, time for you to go.”

Like Warwick on CSI, is Jim Martin’s senate bid likely dead because Georgia is to conservative for him; can Vernon Jones give him an ER trauma rescue or is Jones upset that the Democrat Party treated him like Ugly Betty for voting for President Bush. Why can Jim Martin vote for John Edwards and Jim Marshall support Bush policies that McCain admits were questionable and the Democrats run behind them like Dr. McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy but Vernon Jones got shamed for being bipartisan?

The CSI team could use all available technology and still would not discover a nanometer of support that Jim Marshall gave the Obama/Biden ticket—exile island awaits you, Congressman Marshall, because you did not perform in the challenges and flirted the rival tribe, you don’t deserve the reward.

An endorsement from DailyKos isn't going to matter at all this election. It's not going to affect Jim Martin's run for chambliss senate seat. Things are bad in this country as well in this state. Umemployment is at its highest here in over 20 years. I don't put much stock into Rasmussen poll at all. If the other polls, including strategic vision shows this race all but tied, then this is a legitimate race. The bottom line is chambliss has been there for 6 years including 8 in congress. He is part of the problem. His votes for spending bills that has put our national debt, deficits at record levels, the support of the amnesty bill, & his vote against S-CHIP is enough for me to vote for a democrat for the first time since Sam Nunn back in 1990.

Debbie,

Strategic vision is not Matt Towery. I think you are confused on Reed-Cagle. It was Towery who put out that Reed had won it at 6 pm, though there was a quite large win for Cagle that day.

Strategic vision is a joke firm that really doesn't even *really* poll. They send out press releases claiming that they do them, but simply regurgitate what they read in the blogs.

It's funny to me that people don't seem to understand this.

Heck look at their own website. Look at the political candidates they claim. their portfolio of winning political candidates are Florida school board candidates and other a handful of unknown riff-raff? Fakes. Ignore their "polling".

Rasmussen is reliable.

That is good point!

And in fact a friend of mine who reads this blog made the very point over a few beers and wings at happy hour last Friday. In fact he wonders if the Saxby staff is in denial. And this person is very politically connected in the GOP.

Do you thin they are in denial?

The point I am making is if many republicans will not even take a Saxby sign that shows he has a problem with the base.

And if he has problems with the base he may not win.

signs, signs, everywhere there are no signs. who gives a sh*t?

i know this is hard for you to grasp considering your deep knowledge of politics, but signs are not an indication of potential votes konop. especially since both parties are charging for campaign signs at most events.

Buzz

You make a good point I have not seen many Martin signs yet I usually travel in heavy Red areas (Cherokee, East Cobb and North Fulton). Once again my son had a soccer game at the Gwinnett YMCA and I did not see one sign from Cherokee to Gwinnett for Saxby, yet I did see signs for McCain, Price…… I am not saying he has no signs yet it is strange not seeing any.

I've seen plenty of Saxby signs in Gwinnett and very few Martin signs.

<em>"Chambliss defeated Cleland because Max was an out of step liberal (not unlike Jim Martin)."</em>

unlike chambliss who is right in step with liberals.

RuralDem // Oct 9, 2008 at 2:54 am

Oh, and Strategic Vision has Chambliss at 47, Martin at 44.

Remind me again what poll numbers Strategic Vision released right before election day on the Reed-Cagle race... They are not very reliable now are they?
