That is interesting. Our semantic laiden argument aside, it is a big difference for this type of surgery in this situation than in the usual case. It does go to show the failing of our language that people have to be referred to by their sex and that there is no gender neutral way to refer to another human being without it being considered insulting.

But, I think most here agree the law suit was ridiculous.

I don’t understand why someone would find it necessary to take legal action in this situation.

It may be unfair, but that is just the impression I get from you when someone posts something you disagree with related to gays. Accusing someone of intolerence for pointing out the obvious (that people are going to react to someone getting a sex change, and that the use of pronouns is made awkward) is a little extreme.

Personally, I do not care about anyone’s sex life, gay, straight, or Icarus. But someone with a man’s build running around with a five o’clock shadow, a dress and heals is going to be thought of as odd. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news in that regard.
