Maybe Paul Broun was sworn in after all – in the wrong State.

From the Independent Mail in Anderson, SC.

U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-S.C., also voted against the $700 billion bailout. He said he feels the proposal would have “unintended consequences that may be unimaginable.”

“Socialism has never worked and it will not work,” Rep. Broun said.

You don’t understand. Banning soft porn to privately owned off base stores is capitalism at it’s best. Why should government subsidized soft porn shops on base have an upper hand?

  2. Howard Roark says:

The Anderson Independent is the primary newspaper in Elbert, Hart, Franklin, Stephens and Rabun counties. It out sells the Athens paper. This thread makes little sense.

Hey Bucky, I hope you and the family are doing well. My kid played soccer in your Rec department.

  3. Maybe the S.C. stands for Staunch Conservative? Or maybe the paper knows something we don’t know, perhaps Broun is planning on moving to South Carolina to hijack their water for thirsty Atlanta-ites.

  4. bowersville says:

There will be no hijacking water for thirsty Atlantans. They can drink out of the toilet or the Tennessee River.

  5. Bucky Plyler says:

Howard is right about the Anderson Independent outselling the Athens paper in northeast GA. The Athens paper has very little to say to those of us in that part of the state! (However, we still say GO DOGS)

Howard it’s good to hear from you. My family is doing well. I hope your family had a good time with the soccer program.

A decade or so ago cummunism was relegated to the dustbin of history. We’re witnessing capitalism going the same way. What we’re seeing is a revival of corporatism, Mussolini’s brand of facism, the “melding of corporate and political power”. Our move to neo-corporatism is not new – Congress has been auctioning itself off to the highest corporate bidders for years, and it’s accelerated of late. We’re about to make it official. Republicans seem to be a lot more comfortable with facism than Democrats, so this could be an important election!

  7. Bucky Plyler says:

Old Vet, thank you for your service to our country.

Both McCain & O’Bama voted for the Senate version. However, there were D’s & R’s that voted against it.

Corporations are not the problem. (although some CEO salary payouts are crazy) However, I do agree that mixing corporate & political power can be a problem. (ex. Chavez: not Bush)

This current problem was started by our own gov’t (Barney Frank e.tal) pushing for these loans to be made to folks that could not afford them. That has caused this “credit freeze”.

No one is talking about changing that practice! In fact, the same folks that contributed to the problem will be in oversight of how these taxpayer funds will be spent.

D’s are in charge right now in Congress. There have been similar problems when R’s where ruling. So, if O’Bama gets in with the current Congress – it will be better?????

We must change our minds about running our lifestyles on credit and thinking that our gov’t must entitle us to live this way.
